A Trump-appointed judge is set to oversee Hunter Biden's tax evasion case as the First Son faces nine new charges filed by the Justice Department on Thursday.
Judge Mark Scarsi, an appointee of the former President Donald Trump, has been assigned the case which alleges Hunter was involved in a four-year $1.4m tax evasion scheme.

Hunter Biden was indicted Thursday on felony and misdemeanor charges — nine counts in total — stemming from alleged tax crimes the first son committed between 2016 and 2019.
The three felonies leveled against President Biden’s 53-year-old son include one count tax evasion for his 2018 personal taxes and two counts of filing a false return for his 2018 personal taxes and on a corporate income tax return for his company Owasco, PC.
He has also been hit with six misdemeanor counts of failure to pay and failure to file charges for the 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 tax years.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government in Rome has officially informed Beijing that Italy is withdrawing from the Communist Party government’s Belt and Road global domination scheme.
Following weeks of negotiations, Italy sent a letter to China stating its intentions to formally withdraw from the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Xi Jinping’s pet project to expand Chinese influence throughout the world. The letter was said to have been sent to Beijing several days ago but was not made public until a report on Wednesday from the Milan newspaper Corriere della Sera.
While Rome had attempted to modify its agreement before the renewal deadline set for the end of the year,
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) is ordering Michigan’s state fleet of vehicles to be 100 percent electric by 2040.
In a new directive Tuesday, Whitmer announced a move to bring the state’s fleet of vehicles down to zero greenhouse gas emissions in fewer than two decades. The goal, Whitmer wrote in the order, is “essential” for her administration’s green energy agenda.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has been under fire from the establishment media in Washington for his investigation into alleged financial misdeeds by the Biden family, accused of hyping evidence his team has uncovered to push impeachment.

Well, the ailing Pope Francis has struck again. This time, the 86-year-old pontiff decided to remove the man he described as “his enemy,” the conservative gadfly Cardinal Raymond Burke. To this end, he canceled the Cardinal’s Vatican stipend (said to be around 5,000 euros per month) and, worse, forced him to give up his 4,400-square-foot Vatican apartment. The point, as always, is both to squelch dissent and threaten potential opponents: toe the party line and repeat “the narrative,” or you could be next.
The U.S. House of Representatives voted 221-197 Wednesday evening to pass the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act, which would strike down federal regulations that target gas-powered vehicles.
Two hundred and sixteen and five Democrats voted in favor. The measure will next go to the Senate, where it’s enjoyed bipartisan support. President Biden issued a statement Monday, however, vowing to veto the bill if and when it hits his desk.
The president and his administration have been aggressive in pushing electric vehicles, and this bill is designed to stymie efforts to have the government decide what kind of car you can drive.
Leftists in the press have been falling over themselves lately to warn Americans that a second Trump term in the White House would usher in an era of dictatorship.

Yesterday the presidents of Harvard, MIT and Penn provoked outrage when, in the course of testimony before a House committee, they wouldn’t say whether a call for genocide against Jews would violate their universities’ policies. The blowback from donors and alumni must have been nuclear, as today both President Claudine Gay of Harvard and President Liz Magill of Penn released statements recanting yesterday’s testimony: Actually it was Gay who “confused a right to free expression with the idea that Harvard will condone calls for violence against Jewish students.”

In a letter, he argued that Disney has abandoned its fiduciary duty to investors by "boycotting" X. Loftis’s office portfolio has about $105 million of Disney debt instruments that will mature as scheduled and will not be replaced, according to the treasurer. Loftis said he will focus on the equity portfolio in the coming weeks.
