A New York appeals court judge on Friday rejected Donald Trump’s attempt to stop the ongoing $250 million civil fraud trial, but temporarily halted the process of breaking up the former president’s businesses.
Associate Justice Peter Moulton issued the ruling after a brief hearing Friday afternoon. It leaves Trump’s empire untouched for at least another month and perhaps offers the former president and his family a glimmer of hope. Trump sought to put Judge Arthur Engoron’s surprise summary judgment order last week that he is liable for fraud and must cancel business certificates for many of his business entities on hold pending further appeal.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, Florida Republican and psycho killer, led the smallest caucus in Congress this week across the aisle and into the lap of Democrats. He and his Suicide Caucus joined 208 Democrats to remove former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy from his post. What a day that was. So much for the so-called Hastert Rule that the Suicide Caucus claims to treasure so dearly. Requiring support from a majority of Republicans for floor action apparently applies only to Mr. McCarthy. Such slippery people. Annihilating the Hastert Rule is, you might say, the ultimate RINO move. These people are into making flippy-floppy, and doing it far, far, far better.

Donald Trump is not a great man. His rhetoric, which has included denunciations of those who have served in the military (while he dodged the draft five times with a limp excuse about bone spurs) ought to disgust all but those who are in complete denial of the danger he would pose to the Constitution and the country should he be re-elected president. Humility is not part of his vocabulary and words mean something, especially when they reflect character. In the latest "indictment" of Trump's virulent rhetoric, his former chief of staff, John Kelly, issued a statement in which he says he witnessed Trump insulting wounded veterans and others.

During the course of research for Breaking Biden, my new book that was released earlier this week, there were only a few moments that humanized the current president.
Though I tried to locate the humanity in Joe Biden time and again, I was shocked at how infrequently I was able to do that. I concluded that a key reason Joe Biden has a “DGAF” attitude is that he has faced personal tragedy so acute that it’s hardly a surprise that being the subject of online ridicule doesn’t faze him.
The first of those tragedies took place on December 18, 1972, when

I've been writing about Denver-area baker Jack Phillips for over a decade now. It’s clear to me he’s going to be badgered into the grave by authoritarians intent on punishing him for thought crimes. From the first time his name appeared in the news until this day, the media have misled the public about him, about the case, and about the law.
The latest chapter in Phillips’ Kafkaesque saga involves a transgendered lawyer named Autumn Scardina, who demanded Phillips create a pink cake with blue frosting to help celebrate a “gender transition.” As expected, Phillips, who’d already spent years fighting government coercion, refused to participate.

One common denominator that explains why previously successful societies implode is their descent into fantasies. A collective denial prevents even discussion of existential threats and their solutions.
Something like that is happening in the United States. Eight million illegal immigrants have entered the United States by the deliberate erasure of the southern border.
Apparently, the Biden administration sees some unstated advantage in destroying U.S. immigration law and welcoming in would-be new constituents.
Yet, the more the millions arrive, the more President Joe Biden and his Homeland Security director Alejandro Mayorkas flat out lie that "the border is secure."

Joe Biden’s abrupt conversion to becoming one of the MAGA devils he claims to despise is accelerating. It looks like the choice for the next Speaker of the House is leaning heavily in favor of Rep. Jim Jordan. Essentially the battle is between Jordan and Rep. Steve Scalise and Jordan is coming out on top.
I may be wrong but the reporting on the speaker’s race has been tilted toward Jordan since he tossed his hat in the ring. On Thursday, Axios reported that McCarthy allies are working to gather support for Jordan, not the traditional choice, which would be Steve Scalise. Scalise is the House Majority Leader and at the top of the party leadership. In normal times, he would be the next speaker.

It’s no secret by now that Democrats love rigging elections in their favor.
During the 2016 contest, agencies such as the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI willingly partook in a Hillary Clinton campaign-funded operation to convince the American public that Donald Trump colluded with Vladimir Putin and the Russian government to steal the election. Far-left Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron barred Trump and Trump’s family members from transferring assets or creating new entities without notifying an appointed court monitor on day 4 of Letitia James’ Stalinist show trial.[Snip]“In all fairness he has no choice. He has no choice. He’s run by the Democrats. I know this city better than anybody knows this city. There’s nobody who knows it like I do. He’s a Democrat judge out of the clubhouses. He’s controlled. And it’s a shame.[Snip]“Our whole system is corrupt. This is corrupt. Atlanta is corrupt. And what’s coming out of DC is corrupt,” Trump concluded.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden on Thursday defended his administration’s decision to waive 26 federal laws in South Texas to allow for construction of roughly 20 miles of additional border wall, saying he had no choice but to use the Trump-era funding for the barrier to stop illegal migration from Mexico.
Asked if he thought such walls work, he said flatly, “No.”
The new construction was announced in June, but the funds were appropriated in 2019 before the Democratic president took office.

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump has dropped his $500 million lawsuit against Michael Cohen, his former lawyer and fixer who is now a key witness in a criminal case against him, Cohen and a Trump spokesperson said Thursday night. But the former president did not waive his right to sue again.
Trump had accused Cohen of “spreading falsehoods” “with malicious intent” and causing “vast reputational harm” for talking publicly about hush-money payments made to women during Trump’s 2016 campaign that are at the heart of criminal charges he faces in New York.
