Former President Donald Trump blamed the early morning attack on Israel led by a militant group on President Biden, saying that the president has undermined peace efforts in the Middle East brokered by the Trump administration.
Conservative lawmakers, and now Mr. Trump, have been calling for Mr. Biden to face accountability for the attacks led by the Palestinian militant group Hamas. So far, the early morning blitz has left over 100 dead and hundreds wounded in Israel. The Israeli Army has confirmed that an unknown number of civilians and soldiers have been captured by the militant group and taken into Gaza.

Hillary Clinton last night on CNN said of Trump supporters, “You know, maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members.” This among other things came in the context of a report in Newsweek to the effect that the federal government, and the FBI in particular, has “quietly created a new category of extremists that it seeks to track and counter: Donald Trump’s army of MAGA followers.”
That seems… like a lot of people? In addition to the obvious observation that people like Hillary seem increasingly unmoored from reality, as well as wilfully deaf to the political consequences of their wordsmith

Rep. Matt Gaetz, Florida Republican and psycho killer, led the smallest caucus in Congress this week across the aisle and into the lap of Democrats. He and his Suicide Caucus joined 208 Democrats to remove former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy from his post. What a day that was. So much for the so-called Hastert Rule that the Suicide Caucus claims to treasure so dearly. Requiring support from a majority of Republicans for floor action apparently applies only to Mr. McCarthy. Such slippery people. Annihilating the Hastert Rule is, you might say, the ultimate RINO move. These people are into making flippy-floppy, and doing it far, far, far better.

One common denominator that explains why previously successful societies implode is their descent into fantasies. A collective denial prevents even discussion of existential threats and their solutions.
Something like that is happening in the United States. Eight million illegal immigrants have entered the United States by the deliberate erasure of the southern border.
Apparently, the Biden administration sees some unstated advantage in destroying U.S. immigration law and welcoming in would-be new constituents.
Yet, the more the millions arrive, the more President Joe Biden and his Homeland Security director Alejandro Mayorkas flat out lie that "the border is secure."

Former president Donald Trump is expected to endorse House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) to be the next speaker of the House of Representatives. Former speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was ousted from the post earlier this week.
Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) said Trump will endorse Jordan in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Thursday. The Texas Rep. said he thinks other Republicans should follow suit. "Just had a great conversation with President Trump about the Speaker’s race," Nehls posted.
"He is endorsing Jim Jordan, and I believe Congress should listen to the leader of our party. I fully support Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House."

If you’re kicking yourself for missing the historic moment of a House speaker’s ouster Tuesday because you had to work or get your kids from school, relax: We watched, and all it boiled down to was hot air — sound and fury, signifying nothing except cynical nihilism and likely weeks of chaotic paralysis. Oh, Rep. Matt Gaetz and his fellow rebels talked plenty about high principle and the crisis of the Republic, but all they were really doing was burning down the House, or at least the House Republican majority.

During an interview with Tucker Carlson on X/Twitter, Victor Davis Hanson discusses the volatile 2024 election:
VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: It's going to be scary if they win because that means they'll probably take the House, the entire Congress, and there won't be any redress of grievances.
But I don't think they will because they don't have any popular support because every single one of Joe Biden's issues -- economy, crime, energy, foreign policy, the border -- he's polling 30-40 percent. The only way they're retaining power is through the legal system and the administrative state and our institutions: media, entertainment, sports, education, K-12 and universities

Is it really that weird that Laphonza Butler, California Governor Gavin Newsom’s pick to replace Diane Feinstein in the Senate, lives in Maryland?
Now, incidentally, this isn’t one of those instances where a politician is spending an inordinate amount of time in DC (before leaving office and becoming a lobbyist and making it official). Newsom’s spokesperson confirms that Butler resides in Silver Spring, Maryland, and is registered to vote in that state. We’re just skipping the part where we pretend senators represent states rather than political parties. So, thank you.

The U.S. Department of Energy is rolling out a new program to redevelop some of its lands into clean energy hubs – starting with the former nuclear Hanford site in southeast Washington state. Many Energy officials flew in to meet with industry leaders and nearly 100 community members at the Federal Building in Richland in late September to discuss the new plan.
"As you saw on the maps as you were coming in there, this is a large contiguous area of land. It is, in fact, 30 square miles," said David Turk, Deputy Secretary of Energy. "That's a big piece of land. That's not something that happens everyday for clean energy

The dynamics of what has fueled recent gridlock on Capitol Hill can be boiled down to numbers.
While Democrats retain a slight majority in the Senate, even with the recent passing of Dianne Feinstein of California, House Republicans must contend with a razor-thin 221-213 majority — putting the GOP conference in a precarious position as any major bloc within the party can help pass or scuttle critical pieces of legislation.
The House is a sharply partisan body, as opposed to the more deliberative upper chamber, which has a 60-vote threshold to pass most major bills.
So House Speaker Kevin McCarthy of California faced a critical challenge on Saturday as he pushed through

House GOP members are preparing a motion to expel Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., amid his renewed threat to pursue a motion to vacate House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The House Republican members will seek to expel Gaetz if the ethics committee report comes back with findings of guilt, Fox News has learned. One member told Fox News the report is mostly written but does not know what it contains. Yet following threats to vacate McCarthy, the member said of Gaetz, "No one can stand him at this point. A smart guy without morals."

For more than two hours on a Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Gustavo Castillo led the Pentecostal congregation he’s been growing in this Minneapolis suburb through prayer, Scriptures, rousing music and sometimes tearful testimonials.
But it all may end soon. A sudden procedural change in how the federal government processes green cards for foreign-born religious workers, together with historic highs in numbers of illegal border crossers, means that thousands of clergy like him are losing the ability to remain in this country.
“We were right on the edge of becoming permanent residents, and boom, this changed,” Colombia-born Castillo said as his wife rocked their 7-month-old boy, a U.S. citizen by birth.
