If you’re kicking yourself for missing the historic moment of a House speaker’s ouster Tuesday because you had to work or get your kids from school, relax: We watched, and all it boiled down to was hot air — sound and fury, signifying nothing except cynical nihilism and likely weeks of chaotic paralysis. Oh, Rep. Matt Gaetz and his fellow rebels talked plenty about high principle and the crisis of the Republic, but all they were really doing was burning down the House, or at least the House Republican majority.

President Joe Biden announced Wednesday that he approved $9 billion in student loan forgiveness for 125,000 Americans.
The relief is a result of his administration's fixes to a number of programs, including the income-driven repayment plans and Public Service Loan Forgiveness. More than $5 billion of the aid will go to 53,000 borrowers who've worked in public service for a decade or more; $2.8 billion of the forgiveness is for 51,000 borrowers enrolled in income-driven repayment plans; and another $1.2 billion of the cancellation will go to 22,000 borrowers with disabilities. The announcement is likely to help Biden as he runs for reelection, experts say.

The Biden administration will waive 26 federal laws to allow several miles of new border wall construction in South Texas, leading former President Donald Trump to argue that his signature policy was correct all along.
The Department of Homeland Security posted the announcement on the US Federal Registry on Wednesday, allowing the construction in Starr County, Texas, part of a busy Border Patrol sector seeing 'high illegal entry.'
'There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas,' DHS Secretary

Biden paid a visit to Arizona to claim that everyone who opposes him is a threat to democracy, to brag about encouraging former Senator McCain to cheat on his disabled first wife, and to announce $83 million in taxpayer money for the John McCain National Library.
The 80,000-square-foot library built on 22.5 acres at Arizona State Universe will archive McCain’s papers and claims, implausibly, that it will have over 100,000 visitors a year.
Politicians stealing taxpayer money to build useless monuments to each other’s vanity is nothing new, but what is unusual is the source of the money for the McCain library.
The Biden administration put out a press release announcing that

The medical system in New York City is straining under the weight of the constant flow of illegals.
Hospitals and medical centers are being overwhelmed by the sheer number of people seeking treatment and it’s not surprising. When you suddenly add tens of thousands more people than a system was designed for, this is what you get.
Have the people of New York had enough yet?
NBC News reports: Inside a New York City hospital on the front lines of the migrant crisis - In the past year alone, medical centers across the five boroughs have received nearly 30,000 visits from undocumented migrants

We wrote earlier about how one of the first orders of business for speaker pro tempore Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) in the aftermath of the House's ousting of Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as Speaker was to notify former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) that she needed to immediately remove her things and vacate her hideaway office. Also, according to reports, an email sent from a House Administration Committee aide indicated the room was being redesignated “for speaker office use."
Naturally, the move prompted some wailing from Pelosi, who proclaimed that the decision was "a sharp departure from tradition."

My dearest friends, as much as I do not want to accept certain things, this one is critical to accept. Jim Jordan has shown over time that he is simply a purposefully placed “anger manager” on behalf of the Professionally Republican wing of the administrative state.
(snip)For the past several years, as more intensity has swirled around us, Representative Jim Jordan has appeared as more of a useful “anger manager,” better positioned to satiate the masses than actually deliver any accountability results. The media appearances seemed to align with that intent, and then a very big datapoint surfaced that few -other than myself- seemed to be concerned about.

The FBI is reportedly probing a Christian faith group that counts Catholic Supreme Court justice Amy Coney Barrett as a member, months after Republicans accused the agency of targeting Catholics.
The agency has interviewed several people who claim they were abused by members of the group, People of Praise, sources told the Guardian. (snip) During Barrett's confirmation process in October 2020, her critics hammered on her association with People of Praise, framing the group as radical and misogynistic. Media outlets publicized allegations against the group by a former member who, the Washington Free Beacon reported, has a history of far-fetched claims, litigiousness, and hyper-partisanship.

President Vladimir Putin has threatened the West with total nuclear destruction leaving 'no chance of survival' in the event of a strike on Russia.
In a ranting anti-US speech, the dictator said his powerful missiles 'Satan-2' and 'Flying Chernobyl' are ready for deployment in an ominous doomsday warning.
Putin told a conference in Sochi: 'From the moment the launch of missiles is detected, no matter where it comes from - from any point of the world ocean or from any territory - such a number, so many hundreds of our missiles appear in the air in a retaliatory strike that there is no chance of survival there will be no

Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson said Wednesday that former President Trump is afraid of being poisoned.
“He does have a very potent fear of being poisoned,” Hutchinson told comedian Jimmy Kimmel on his late night show. “So he uses and prefers the small Heinz glass ketchup bottles, because he likes to hear his valet or whoever’s serving him his meal, he likes to hear the ‘pop.’”Her comments came after Kimmel referenced her testimony in front of the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot on the Capitol, in which she said she found ketchup dripping from the wall of the West Wing dining room after Trump threw his

FBI agent Elvis Chan, who appeared to lie under oath about his role in censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story, failed to show up Thursday to his scheduled testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, a source familiar confirmed to the Daily Caller.
The Judiciary Committee subpoenaed Chan on Sept. 21 to appear for an interview Thursday after he previously failed to attend a scheduled interview, the Daily Caller previously reported. Chan was nowhere to be found at the time the interview was scheduled, a source familiar told the Daily Caller. “Everything is on the table for Mr. Chan, including contempt,”

To me, this story sums up the entire Biden presidency: take something simple and screw it up.
For most people, a dog in the household brings joy and unconditional love and also gives the owner a responsibility to make sure the canine is cared for and healthy. But Joe Biden can’t even seem to get that right, as his dog Commander has a fondness for biting people—and as my colleague Jeff Charles reported in September, he has a special taste for Secret Service agents.
He has chomped on them at least 12 times since 2021, and now he’s been caught on camera:
