It began shortly after President Biden's inauguration. First, there were whispers and what seemed like slander on far-right websites and social media that the president was suffering from cognitive decline. His subsequent slurred speech, his trips and falls, and his confusion even while reading a teleprompter, all have led to denunciations and explanations by the White House press secretary, some congressional Democrats and legacy media for raising the issue. The subject is no longer on the fringes. Mainstream media are now carrying stories and editorials about the president's mental condition and his fitness for a second term.

Suggesting he needs more aggressive and aware handlers is correct. But not for the President. My mother had Alzheimer's. When we were able to take her out shopping or to eat one of us girls would always be by her side. To run interference for her, keep her out of harm's way so that this outing would be enjoyable and smooth over any bumps that might come up. We would rotate that job so that no one was over burdened with Mom. Depending on her disposition that day it could be a challenge or things could run very smoothly. We all knew that she needed constant help and could not be left alone to her own devices. There were tricks and distractions that we could employ to make the day pleasant. All we wanted was for Mom to have a nice time. It appears that FJB could use that same kind of assistance as he obviously is struggling. The angry outbursts and snide remarks are another indication that things are not well. Yes, he is pretty much a jerk, but it has been on display more often. Not knowing where to go, not sure where you are, not speaking clearly or coherently, needing more physical assistance and direction. Confusion. We girls recognized mom's limitation and had a plan to help her. We did not push her front and center for the world to see. This man is being looked at by our enemies and they are thinking we are idiots to leave him there. Get him off center stage, take him home, take care of him. Shame on you, Jill.

#1, you are a gracious woman. I’m not that gracious. Your mom sounds like she was a wonderful lady before her mind began to fail. Slow Joe has been a mendacious, venal grifter all his life. The cognitive failings just exacerbate his shortcomings. But not by much. And DOCTOR Jill? She’s not about to let go of the golden goose living in the White House provides.

Shortly after the inauguration? Where were you during 2020, Cal? During what little campaigning Joe did, it was obvious that he wasn’t all there. What politician with an iota of good brain function calls one of his supporters a “lying dog-faced pony soldier” to his face and on live television? Or a junkie?

He has dementia Cal. He has had it since taking office 2 years ago. All the media knows it, congress knows it, but until it became such a laugh riot overseas they ignored it to protect the steal and the narrative. Biden is the chosen figurehead here, and Obama's minions are the ones running the show. Obama thinks he is being cute here, but anyone who pays attention can recognize his corrupted and grubby fingerprints all over everything.

If President Biden is serious about seeking a second term, he must fix the problem of his vice president, Kamala Harris. Though Biden's poll numbers are currently not much better than Harris', latest polling by the Los Angeles Times finds as of this month "41% of registered voters had a favorable opinion of Harris and 53% had an unfavorable opinion — a net rating of -12 percentage points." One wonders what those 41 percent see as Harris' accomplishments, because there have been none, as far as I can tell. Republicans will likely make Biden's age an issue in the coming campaign and whether Harris is qualified

It may not have had the significance of the Emancipation Proclamation, or the civil rights legislation of the 1960s, but last week's ruling by the Supreme Court that affirmative action in college admissions violates the 14th Amendment's equal protection clause is an important advancement toward equality for all. Reaction to the 6-3 decision has been mostly predictable. Many on the left, including President Biden, moan that it is a setback and they promise to try to circumvent the ruling. The president claimed it is not "a normal court." To a liberal, normal is only when the court rules in their favor.

After the horrific massacre in Nashville, the Democratic Party is hellbent on feeding the malignant narcissism of the “trans community,” in which they see a reliable, perpetually aggrieved voter base and a tool with which to terrorize society. This isn’t “Christian nationalism.” Virtually every institution is sending a message that murderous violence toward Christians is acceptable, or at least less bad than exposing the “trans community” to obloquy. Law enforcement is obstructing the release of the manifesto. Merrick Garland won’t call it a hate crime, and neither will Joe Biden, who apparently thinks this is all a big joke.

Two years ago, Transportation Secretary Buttigieg announced that he was making the fight against “systemic racism” into the core of his job. The failed South Bend mayor came out of the gate claiming that highways were racist. Last year, he went to Birmingham to announce the launch of a $1 billion plan to tear down racist highways and implement transportation equity. Taxpayer money would be directed to “economically disadvantaged communities, especially those with projects that are focused on equity and environmental justice.” East Palestine was not one of them. On Feb 3, a train filled with hazardous materials derailed in East Palestine.

With the Super Bowl tomorrow and my grade school knowledge of Roman numerals unable to calculate which number this one will be, my thoughts have turned, not to the Super Bowl yet to come, but to a Super Bowl of football past. It was a time when there was less hype; less self-promotion, and less on-field braggadocio. It was also a time of more patriotism; more happiness and more fun. It was the time when Walter Payton played in Super Bowl XX. In Chicago, there were always Cub fans and Sox fans, and though never those twain would meet

When has a Republican been in D.C. too long? When he prioritizes the Ukraine war over the disintegration of the U.S.-Mexican border. He should know better than most about the dangers flooding across the southern border. Dangers posed by illegals, drugs, human trafficking, and cartels. More ominously, the cartel wars raging throughout Mexico threaten to venture north into the U.S. Tens of thousands of Mexicans are dying in those brutal wars. Are

Siena College, Palm Beach School of Nursing and Sacred Heart International Institute – all based in south Florida – combined to distribute more than 7,600 fraudulent diplomas worth over $100 million or roughly $15,000 per diploma, federal prosecutors said. All schools are now defunct. Twenty-five defendants, including school directors and diploma recipients, were charged in the scheme and each face up to 20 years

The Biden administration announced Friday that it would forgive $39 billion in student loans for 804,000 borrowers, explaining it had pursued certain fixes to existing income-driven-repayment plans. “For far too long, borrowers fell through the cracks of a broken system that failed to keep accurate track of their progress towards forgiveness,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said in a written statement. These income-driven plans set a forgiveness threshold of 20 or 25 years. Borrowers must make payments that qualify over this period — payments that can be as low as $0 based on an individual’s income and family situation. “By fixing past administrative failures, we are ensuring everyone gets the forgiveness they deserve,

Last night, Fox News host Jessie Watters, like the rest of the nation, couldn’t stomach the United States Secret Service’s conclusion that it couldn’t figure out who brought cocaine into the White House. The law enforcement agency has the names of 500 individuals in or around the vestibule where the drugs were discovered, but supposedly no video evidence that can zero in on a person of interest. Due to the lack of a solid suspect, the agency is closing its investigation. Katie had more on this yesterday. She included the statement from the Secret Service:

Ron DeSantis’s once-vaunted presidential bid is in freefall. In the latest ominous sign for the Florida governor, Rupert Murdoch’s media empire appears to be distancing itself from his candidacy, with once-supportive outlets from Fox News and the New York Post to The Wall Street Journal highlighting his flagging poll numbers, his policy inconsistencies, and his cringeworthy attempts to connect with voters in key primary states. Should the DeSantis campaign fizzle out, comparisons with previous GOP stars-turned-flops like Jeb Bush, his predecessor in Tallahassee, are inevitable. But a more revealing analogy for DeSantis is to the most disappointing candidacy in the 2020 Democratic field: that of Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
