It is,” he said, “A five-alarm fire. And there is nobody coming to put it out.”
“It,” in this case, is the possibility that once again Donald Trump will prevail over a splintered Republican field, getting the same 30-40 percent he received in the early primaries in 2016, enough to win the nomination. “He,” is a Republican donor and bundler, a Wall Street financier who regularly hobnobs with senior Republican officials but who also was, uniquely for his tribe, an early and enthusiastic supporter of Trump.

Trump WILL win the nomination. But there are never-Trumpers who'd rather Satan himself was President than help elect DJT again.

One could argue that Trump was the one plotting against Trump with his continued nasty and narcissistic behavior. A real turn off to many religious conservatives.

Yep! Too bad all us pure-of-heart Republicans don't have a candidate who meets all our qualifications for the perfect POTUS. But since we don't, let's destroy the only one who has any chance of pulling America out of the death dive to communism.
Why? Well...he's just mean, he's vain, brags about his accomplishments, attacks back when he's attacked!
He's just not the type of person I want for President!
Jeesh, people!

#2 - Why? As a Christian conservative, I admit some of his outbursts make me cringe, but he often says out loud what I have become socially trained to be afraid to. My only hope is that he has learned to surround himself with better people, and yes - I hope one of them has a muzzle.

LOL, what do you mean ''starting''? They have been plotting against him ever since he came down the escalator in his building. He had to get a retired political operative to prevent the nomination from being stolen from him. They haven't stopped their plotting.

The "donors" are what corrupted the party in the first place. I guess thats what happens when you are able to buy influence. We nobodies are courted for our votes and ignored thereafter. The donors get the full prostitute treatment around the clock.

Christian conservatives know who he is, and we know that he understands the battle we are in. If there was someone else, soneone better, we'd have found him or her. But we know its us vs them, and he's with us.
Christian conservatives aren't going anywhere, He has done everything to demonstrate that he is with us and alleviated any fears we may have had. Consequently, what Mike Pence provided, that link to Christians, is no longer necessary, He will need another different Vice President to expand market share, one who brings supporters who are still not convinced. I'm looking at you, suburban mom's who don't want to be embarrassed at the after school pick up line. Limited government and waving the flag and telling your son to dress like a boy, and lowering the price of gas for your car, that's what matters.
Trump needs someone who can appeal to that demographic. Or a cabinet full of Palins.

I don't hate Trump but I have concerns that he will not win. He cannot control himself and engages in silly battles that diminish him. Attacking Desantis like a school boy is a good example. I dislike Romney but he attacked and humiliated him. He made a lifetime enemy. All unnecessary.

Politico, as usual, is just trying to do its divisive job. The RINOS are few & far between.
