A Multnomah County Grand Jury has indicted security guard Logan Gimbel for fatally shooting a man in a North Portland parking lot in May. Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced Thursday that Gimbel, 28, has been charged with murder in the second degree with a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon with a firearm, as well as three misdemeanor charges: recklessly endangering another person and two counts of unlawful use of mace in the second degree. The shooting took place on the night of May 29 at the Delta Park Center shopping plaza. Gimbel shot Freddy Nelson, 49, through the windshield of Nelson’s Nissan Frontier

In 1980, when the voters of Arkansas denied Bill Clinton a second term as the state’s governor, he responded by apologizing to the voters for the poor decisions he had made and asking them how he could have done a better job. This humble approach allowed him to regain the trust of the voters, and he was reelected in 1982. The rest, to coin a phrase, is history. There’s a lesson for Rep. Liz Cheney in this story, but she refuses to learn it. Indeed, on Sunday, she literally dismissed the Wyoming voters who rejected her as “sick.”

When President Trump re-takes the White House in 2024, we conservatives will be in charge of the House of Representatives and possibly the Senate. That is the time to fix what has gone so horribly wrong ever since COVID and the 2020 election. Having read Trump’s book, “The Art of the Deal,” I am going to attempt a death-defying feat here by offering him advice. His book reveals him to be infinitely patient and a strategic thinker, making few mistakes. He’s a winner, a fighter, and I take a great risk by daring to give him advice. Nevertheless, here is a list of priorities I’d like to see implemented.

Sitting presidents usually get the benefit of the doubt from their own party. But looking ahead, President Joe Biden might have problems whipping up Democratic enthusiasm for a second term. The opposite is true for former President Donald Trump, the latest TIPP Poll shows. For the August TIPP Poll, we asked members of both parties a similar question: “If the (Democratic/Republican) presidential primary were held today, who would you vote for?” The national poll of 1,182 registered voters was conducted online from Aug. 2-4, with a margin of error of +/-2.9 percentage points.

Last week, Dr. Ashish Jha, White House Coronavirus Response Director, claimed that the hundreds of daily U.S. deaths from (or with) Covid-19 “would go to close to zero” if every person “was up to date on their vaccines and people got treated with Paxlovid as they're supposed to.” My tweet of his video clip garnered a well-deserved and much-expected ratio, with far more quote tweets and responses than likes or retweeets. However, while the vast majority of respondents who were critical of Jha came from Team Reality (given the political leanings of my followers, that was no surprise), several more came from Branch Covidians angry at Jha

Parkland father Fred Guttenberg, an outspoken gun control proponent, claims Madison County, North Carolina’s, plan to have AR-15s for classroom defense is “absolute insanity.” Guttenberg lost his daughter, 14-year-old Jaime, in the February 14, 2018, Parkland high school attack, in which the attacker faced zero armed resistance. There have been other high-profile school shootings since Parkland in which the attackers have also had time to carry out their heinous deeds without armed resistance.

It’s been 7 years since Donald Trump rode that escalator down to the lobby in Trump Tower to announce one of the greatest publicity stunts in history. The only problem for those who thought it was all an attention-getter was Donald Trump went on to win the presidency. From that moment on, every aspect of Trump’s life has been the subject of wild speculation and straight up lies. There really isn’t anything he hasn’t been accused of, yet there isn’t anything that has ever been proven. It’s time to put up, or shut up. Think about it: Short of murder, what hasn’t Donald Trump been accused of doing

Oh, Mike Pence, you soft, naive little man. Oh, Tim Scott, you kindly and friendly gentleman. I like you both. I really do. I would love you to be my neighbors. If I ran short of sugar or charcoal, you'd square me away. Not so much bourbon, but whatever. If I asked you to help me move or give me a ride to the airport, you suckers would be all in because you are nice guys. And that's your problem and the problem of Republicans like you. You are nice guys in a time that calls for ruthless killers who want to destroy our enemies

One of the most interesting phenomena in politics at the current moment is how the left wing of the Democrat Party reacts when the Right points out what it is doing. First, the Right notices. Then Democrats tell us that it isn’t happening. When someone from the Right proves it is happening, the Left asks why we care. To capitalize on this little dance, a group named Citizens for Sanity is placing billboards and ads all over the country pointing out the worst excesses of the radical Left. The initial billboard slogans point to some of the worst ideas on the radical Left: “Protect Pregnant Men from Climate Discrimination."

Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz on Sunday defended former President Donald Trump after the FBI seized documents from the former commander-in-chief’s Mar-a-Lago home. Dershowitz emphasized on Fox News Channel’s “MediaBuzz” that he voted against Trump twice and was “looking forward” to doing it again but said the FBI engaged in an “improper search” to obtain documents. “Look, I voted against Trump twice. I’m looking forward to an opportunity to vote against him for a third time, but I will not compromise the Fourth Amendment or the Constitution or the principles I’ve stood for all my life in order to get Trump,”

This probably shouldn’t shock you. It didn’t shock me. But it is interesting that an outlet like the Washington Post would so brazenly set out to prove it. In a piece titled “As Biden turns toward midterms, he may not be the top surrogate,” the Post surveyed dozens of Democrats, scoured their ads, social media, and websites, and realized that Joe Biden seems to be deeply unpopular this midterm cycle. Of the 60 or so Democrats they asked, very few said they wanted Biden (or anyone from his administration, actually) to come campaign with them. He’s being attacked more often in televised ads than Obama was at this point in 2010

If you’ve been following the political chatter for the last month or so, one common theme being pushed by the press and data nerd Twitter is the idea of a Democrat “comeback” before the mid-terms. Historically, every headwind is against Joe Biden and his party, but as the story goes, things will be different this time. After all, the Democrats passed the “Inflation Reduction Act” that doesn’t actually reduce inflation, and Democrats have taken some leads on the generic ballot since the overturning of Roe v. Wade. My response has been different, though. The generic ballot has often understated Republican support in environments

Some of the Democrats who have been spiking the ball in the end zone after the passage of the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” probably didn’t read all of the finer details in the bill. They’ve been celebrating its passage along with Joe Biden as the “biggest climate legislation” to ever be passed. They have also been grudgingly thanking West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin for getting the bill over the finish line. But it turns out that Manchin snuck in a few items that haven’t drawn many headlines yet and the climate warriors aren’t going to be very happy about them. While there were billions of dollars
