The “broken” and “famously undemocratic” U.S. Constitution “stands in the way” of “real” freedom and democracy, according to a New York Times op-ed by two Ivy League law professors.
The pair issued a call to “radically alter the basic rules of the game” by no longer requiring us to “justify our politics by the Constitution.”A Friday New York Times essay, titled “The Constitution Is Broken and Should Not Be Reclaimed,” and penned by law professors Ryan D. Doerfler of Harvard and Samuel Moyn of Yale, claims when liberals “lose in the Supreme Court” they often blame justices for misreading the Constitution,

To me it ain't broke. If you want to change the Constitution there are ways to do it. But we need to follow the rules.

Anyone who thinks the Constitution is broken, is the problem. They are the ones who need to be thrown out. You have the right to voice your opinion, but when your actions and your teachings advance the destruction of the rights people have under the Constitution, your voice must be stopped.

This country and out Constitution inextricably linked. Throw out the Constitution, you throw out the country. Once again, this country is a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy. And . . . the Constitution is not broken, or outmoded. Do away with the Constitution, and you will find out exactly what "real" freedom is all about. Just ask the people of Iran, Somalia, North Korea, Afghanistan, etc., for example.

Incredibly shallow and deceitful as coming from two law professors. To say: 'It would be far better if liberal legislators could simply make a case for abortion and labor rights on their own merits without having to bother with the Constitution' is to pretend not to realize that that is EXACTLY what the Supremes just decided. Their rejection of Roe v Wade has finally sent the debate back where it should always have been - in the hands of state citizens and their reps not some federal judge making up imaginary gibberish about 'penumbras' and the right to privacy justifying in-utero murder. And of course the NYT allows its pages to endorse this illegitimate nonsense.

This ain’t you granddaddy’s American press. The media is full on anti-American communists. What was only whispered a few decades ago is now being given print in NYT, the paper of record. We have passed the point of no return in this country when this publication is advocating for the destruction of the Constitution, a document that has stood the test of time brilliantly before these commie professors and media monkeys decided to attack it. These godless jackals are in a snit because they cannot abide the very ethos of this country’s founding documents. Rights given by God and not bestowed by some oppressive government is anathema to them. The mere acknowledgment of a Creator sends them into fits of fury. As radical as this article is, it will be picked up and hailed as the epitome of intellectual thought. Leftists are committed to the destruction of this country’s founding and all that we hold dear because they are arrogant fools who believe they know better and are more worthy to run our lives than rely upon God given rights and the rule of law as set for in our Constitution. The denial of God is at the core of their philosophy. The removal of God’s influence on any part of our society is the goal because they believe only government can serve that purpose. Government will be your god.

Perhaps not a bad idea PROVIDED we dissolve the Union and allow the States that are in the vain of Florida to form Their own Republic. Of course, a new Constitution will be required. Hopefully, one that strengthens and bulletproofs the rights stated in the current Constitution, probably redo the Commerce Clause, Fully delineate between State Powers and the Central Government, Objectively rework the Tax Code, and Term Limits set in place at all levels. Yes, sounds like a great idea!!!!

The Constitution is not broken. But it HAS been bent and twisted badly out of shape by stretching and deforming it by awful intentions and worse SCOTUS decisions. Also, some of the amendments foisted onto the Constitution are terrible. The 16th and 17th come to mind.

Morons that should have their law licenses, and university graduation certificates revoked. If you throw out the Constitution, you throw out the United States, as that is the compact that binds the states and people together. Without the Constitution, there is no compact, and many states will choose not to be a party to the law professor's idea of a leftist country for all. This is the issue, law professors, you have sworn to uphold the Constitution, but your op-ed confesses the opposite. You should be fired, and your law licenses revoked.

The United States Constitution outlines the duties and responsibilities of the Federal Government. Of course the liberal/progressive commies want to ignore it's restrictions. He&&, if we actually followed it's guidance, most of the Federal Government handouts would be done away with...

As we defund the FBI and throw away the Swamps golden geese, let's also examine colleges and universities for loyalty and patriotism, and defund them, if they do not toe the line. It's one thing to debate, it's another to indoctrinate. You people can move to foreign countries if you hate it here, so much.

The Communist NYT has been working for this for almost a century, now they don't even pretend to have any relationship with the rule of law, which is the Constitution.
And yes, it is totally undemocratic, it is a Republic, and never was, never intended to be the chaotic horror that is a democracy.
They ARE the Enemedia.

Biden and the rest of the Marxists in charge now were "elected" under the Constitution. Throw it out and they have no basis for claiming any power or authority and, in fact, the entire government is non-existent. Anarchy rules and whoever has military/physical power is in charge. The only reason these morons want to get rid of the Constitution now is because they feel like they hold the reigns of power (FBI, CIA, DOJ, DOD) and can dominate the rest of us by force. Once we take back the government, they will all howl for "justice" and their Constitutional rights.

The Constitution is what separates us from every other nation on earth. It is there to protect us from elitist liberals like these two professors who think we should be ruled by people who think like they do. That is what is stopping them from unleashing liberal hell on every corner of the country. We must defend it with our lives.

An Article 5 Convention of States 8s the perfect opportunity to present your alternatives.
The Constitution can be scrapped, assuming 75% of the states agree. The Constitution is the law of the land and allows for changes by working within the constitutional provisions.
Ya'll just want to scrap it because you can't meet the thresholds required. You just want mob rule....aka democracy..

To me the fundamental principles of the constitution, and therefore what makes the US unique among nations are:
1. The idea that rights are not granted by any governing body. This is a stunning departure from the world that the founders lived in and is the most important foundational principle of the US.
2. The separation of powers into Three equal branches. This too was unknown anywhere else on the planet. Most of history has been a succession of Kings, Emperors, Chieftains, Warlords etc etc. Every other civilisation rested power in a single entity, very often a single individual who had noauthority restraining them.
The Magna Carta started at least holding the individual accountable but it did nothing about his absolute power.
What the left wants is anathema to these two principles. They are in the Obama school, the school that demands the constitution sets up a tyranny where the Government is commanded provide priveleges for people and gives the government the rpower to arbitrarily determine what rights the plebians are allowed to have, and more importantly what, who can have them and to give the government the ability to terminate them at any time for any reason or to simply selectively apply them.
They also want an all powerful beurocratic state, one that while completey unelected, has the power to direct all of government power as directed by an omnipotent Congress permanently in the hands of the left. Courts would serve at the behest of congress and decisions would need to be confirmed by congress, any out of line justice could be replaced for any reason. The Presidency would be a figurehead like the Queen, trotted out a couple times every year to cheerlead the exemplary leadership of the omnipotent congress.
What they want is not any form of democracy, republicanism or not, what they truly want is tyranny, a tyranny with the truly false veneeer of "democracy" as practiced in North Korea where the party in power gets 99% of the popular vote in every election.
ONLY our constitution prevents this. It is definitely worth saving.
