Last week, Dr. Ashish Jha, White House Coronavirus Response Director, claimed that the hundreds of daily U.S. deaths from (or with) Covid-19 “would go to close to zero” if every person “was up to date on their vaccines and people got treated with Paxlovid as they're supposed to.” My tweet of his video clip garnered a well-deserved and much-expected ratio, with far more quote tweets and responses than likes or retweeets. However, while the vast majority of respondents who were critical of Jha came from Team Reality (given the political leanings of my followers, that was no surprise), several more came from Branch Covidians angry at Jha

Dr. Anthony Fauci admitted in a Friday Washington Post report that his $10.4 million financial portfolio was hidden from being easily obtained by American citizens.
After watchdogs failed for months to obtain his financial disclosures, Fauci’s 2020 portfolio was obtained and published by Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) on January 14. Fauci’s disclosures were obtained by Marshall after Fauci called the senator a “moron” on a hot mic at a Senate hearing.
“Maybe the senator has a point,” Fauci said about the hidden disclosures. “Maybe my financial investments, though disclosed and available, should be much easier to see.”
As the highest paid federal employee of the federal government, Fauci must publicly disclose financial statements.
Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) said Monday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that former President Donald Trump was the first president of the United States “without character.”
Schiff said, “We have seen a pattern with Donald Trump, and that is when he’s not held accountable. He goes on to commit worse misconduct. He wasn’t held accountable for his Russia misconduct that led to Ukraine. He wasn’t held accountable for the worst misconduct in Ukraine that led to a literal attack on our democracy on January 6.”
He continued, “If he’s not held accountable and ever given an opportunity to exercise power again, we can expect things that are worst still.
On Monday’s edition of NBC’s “Top Story,” Commissioner of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs Manuel Castro blamed the city’s poor handling of migrants bused to the city on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) because Abbott didn’t warn them about the influx of migrants.
Host Tom Llamas asked, “So, Commissioner, you know cities in Texas have been dealing with this issue for decades. And now, New York City, Washington, D.C. dealing with the same issues, right now.” Llamas then read criticism from The New York Times of the city’s early handling of the migrants before asking, “So, what’s happening?"
A new report is shedding light on exactly how the DOJ investigation into Donald Trump over supposed “classified documents” at Mar-a-Lago got started. The FBI recently raided the former president’s Florida home, claiming possible violations of the Espionage Act and other national security concerns.
What flowed after the unprecedented action was a series of coordinated leaks from inside the government meant to make Trump look guilty of crimes. But how did things get that far?
Apparently, it started with the National Archives, which is run by a partisan hack who decided to treat Trump differently from all other presidents before him.
Anthony Bradford, 19, approached a 12-year-old girl in a park on Detroit’s east side around 10 p.m. last Tuesday and demanded that she surrender her shoes. When the girl told Bradford to pound sand, he shot her. [Tweet]
Bradford was arrested and charged with armed robbery, assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon, felony firearm possession, resisting arrest, and obstructing.
The 12-year-old girl was shot in her right hip and is said to be in stable condition. Her name was not released.
Bradford’s probable cause conference was scheduled for Aug. 30, and his preliminary examination is set for Sept. 6.

It’s been 7 years since Donald Trump rode that escalator down to the lobby in Trump Tower to announce one of the greatest publicity stunts in history. The only problem for those who thought it was all an attention-getter was Donald Trump went on to win the presidency. From that moment on, every aspect of Trump’s life has been the subject of wild speculation and straight up lies. There really isn’t anything he hasn’t been accused of, yet there isn’t anything that has ever been proven. It’s time to put up, or shut up.

One of the most interesting phenomena in politics at the current moment is how the left wing of the Democrat Party reacts when the Right points out what it is doing. First, the Right notices. Then Democrats tell us that it isn’t happening. When someone from the Right proves it is happening, the Left asks why we care.
To capitalize on this little dance, a group named Citizens for Sanity is placing billboards and ads all over the country pointing out the worst excesses of the radical Left.

Just in case you needed yet another reason not to take the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) seriously, this story should suffice. The agency released a study on Friday recommending that people wear face masks, among other measures, to avoid catching monkeypox.
The problem? The precautions the CDC suggested do not line up with what the data shows about the spread of the illness.
This week’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) contained research on the spread of the monkeypox virus through contaminated surfaces. The study centered on two patients who lived together and had contracted the virus.

During the hearing to determine if any of the documents used to get a warrant to raid Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, prosecutors told the judge that the investigation was in its “early stages” and argued to keep all of their documents secret for fear of giving the former president’s lawyers a “roadmap” to their case.

I remember back when George W. Bush was president and the mainstream media and Democrats (but I repeat myself) would relentlessly dog him whenever he went on vacation as though presidents are ever really “on vacation” whenever they take one.
Presidents are, of course, almost always accessible in the event they are needed for official business while they’re on vacation, can make speeches, phone calls, send emails, etc., most anything they can do while at the White House.
But there’s a big difference between the supposed leader of the free world taking a break each summer for some downtime and one who is absent from the Oval Office for some “time away”

In a major upset victory for President Joe Biden's party, New York Democratic official Pat Ryan narrowly beat Republican Marc Molinaro in a race that remained in a dead heat nearly until midnight on Wednesday.
Multiple outlets including the New York Times and NBC News called the race for Ryan with more than 95 percent of the votes counted - and less than 3,000 votes between the two candidates.
Ryan will now serve the remainder of former Democrat Rep. Antonio Delgado's term, until the end of the year.
Gov. Kathy Hochul has a whopping 24-point lead over Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin with 11 weeks to go before Election Day, according to a new poll released Tuesday.
The incumbent Democrat had 55% support among likely voters in the poll conducted between Aug. 17 and Aug. 22 by SurveyUSA on behalf of WNYT-TV in Albany. Another 31% backed Zeldin and 14% said they were undecided.
There was some good news for Zeldin in the survey, with 33% of voters saying battling inflation was the most important issue when it comes to deciding their vote for governor. Health care and criminal justice reform were a distant second on 12% each.
As my colleague Brandon Morse reported, President Joe Biden is about to blatantly break the law to “cancel” thousands of dollars of student loan debt accrued by some of the most privileged members of society. Of course, nothing will actually be canceled. Instead, because the government will simply be out that money, the burden of those debts will be transferred from those who accrued them to hundreds of millions of taxpayers who didn’t.

When I was an undergraduate in the late 1960s, I underwent a kind of transformative experience during a classroom debate with another student that I believed I was clearly winning when the philosophy professor corrected me. He reminded me that when engaged in a philosophical debate, as opposed to the 9th grade Debating Challenge, the point is not simply to vanquish one’s opponent but to find the truth. In order to do the former one may use any means fair or foul to destroy the opponent. For the latter one must do the exact opposite and represent one’s opponent’s position in the strongest terms possible.

No doubt still sulking over the Roe v. Wade reversal — the opening sentence of their recent op-ed published in The New York Times is, “When liberals lose at the Supreme Court — as they increasingly have over the past half-century” — two Ivy League professors laid out their claims for an America without Constitutional limitations. They suggest, “the way to seek real freedom will be to use procedures consistent with popular rule.” Of course, the piece is polished sewage: tyranny of the majority is a very real, and very dangerous threat to the individual, (perhaps they should go read Federalist 10, but they likely wouldn’t understand that either).
