Federal government officials have recovered hundreds of classified documents from former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida since he left office, according to a new report.
The initial trove of documents the National Archives and Records Administration collected in January included over 150 documents with classified markings, and seizures in June and in August brought the total up to more than 300, sources told the New York Times. In January, following weeks of communication with Trump's team, the National Archives retrieved 15 boxes of presidential documents before discovering classified material and referring the matter to the Justice Department, which opened an investigation.

Reminds me of the time the media went bonkers when Trump fired Comey, which he (the president) had the absolute authority to do all along . . . . Just like determining whether a document is ‘classified’ or not.
Tedious.

Doesn't matter what's stamped on them. Trump declassified all items prior to his leaving the White House. He's the ultimate authority and can not be questioned or countermanded. They could have been stamped "TOP SECRET SIOP ESI" and it still wouldn't matter. More bait for the weak minded.

the inventory of top secret documents seized in the top secret raid on the top secret, secure, basement vault at Mar a Lago...was just leaked to the NYT.
FBI/DOJ have now leaked more secrets that Trump (or anyone in his circle) demonstrating that THEY have no business having any contact/access to ANY secrets whatsoever.

Getting close to time to release the video Kraken. If Trump says the safe was empty, I believe him. They are trying so desperately to pin something on him. Not gonna work. Until the FBI arrests Obama and both Clintons for their crimes and corruption, this is going to be seen as nothing more than kangaroo court stuff.

Excerpt from a WSJ article about this.
Trump’s documents are covered by a specific statute, the Presidential Records Act of 1978. Nothing in the PRA suggests that the former president’s physical custody of his records can be considered unlawful under the statutes on which the Mar-a-Lago warrant is based.
The PRA doesn’t distinguish between materials that are and aren’t classified. That was a deliberate choice by Congress, as the existence of highly classified materials at the White House was a given long before 1978, and the statute specifically contemplates that classified materials will be present—making this a basis on which a president can impose a 12-year moratorium on public access.

And each and every one was declassified by Trump. But idiots will hear this and gasp oh my God he’sa dirty scum bag and can’t be trusted and probably sold them to China and Russia. These are the same docs the National Archives were in talks with about him turning them over. Which Trump initiated that discussion.

First of all the January and June documents were Not Seized they were given voluntarily. And secondly only 11 sets were seized in the August raid making over 289 previously given freely. This skewing of the facts is why I hate the media,

Remember almost every document created or that was handed to the Office of the President is considered to be classified at some level. It is being said by Trump’s people that all documents transferred to Trump’s office and personal residence at Mar-A-Lago were declassified by Trump before he left office. The President, which Trump was at that time, is the ultimate authority when it comes to classified data and documents.
Remember when Obama left office he reportedly took 900 boxes of presidential data and documents with him. How come Obama’s office and personal residence have not been raided?

Final time. There were NO classified documents found a Mar-a-Lago, because Trump declassified them by statement, his actions, or abba kadabara. Please don't offend by continuing to call them classified, when you know they are not.

Yes, #3. Trump declassified it all simply by saying so. He doesn’t have to go thru channels, doesn’t have to fill out paperwork, doesn’t need a legal decision. By simply saying, “I deem these document unclassified”, they become so. We are wise to the Left’s arguments about what is classified and what isn’t. Nice try, DOJ.

This is the same type of thing as when Vindman, a bureaucratic military hack, decided that he and his cabal had more authority than the President. He did not. The DOJ, another cabal, is spitefully claiming, on their own bureaucratic authority, that the documents were classified when they CLEARLY were not. If we had a different SCOTUS, it might be possible that they would agree, incorrectly and anti constitutionally, with the DOJ. As it is, the DOJ has NO LEGAL STANDING. If this ever went before the SCOTUS, it would probably be declared that the DOJ and FBI acted outside their legal authority. Of course little would happen to the Thugs-R-Us in these agencies. Cleaning house and complete restructuring of the FBI and DOJ should be top priorities post 2024.

How many classified documents does Clinton, Bush, and Obozo have? I've heard Obozo walked out of the White House with more than 30,000 documents. Besides, the president can classify or declassify any document he wants. The Constitution allows the president to take his papers with him when his term is over. This was clearly a stunt as a retaliation for overturning Roe v. Wade to affect the 2022 and 2024 elections and to try and keep Trump from running again.

FBI agents were unobserved during their search of Mar-a-Lago. There were no escorts and cameras were turned off as requested by the FBI. It just occurred to me (maybe I should hate myself for thinking this) how easy it would be for them to plant listening devices at Trump’s home and offices like they did at Trump Tower during the 2016 campaign.

Since when does the department of justice have the clearance to gather those kinds of classified documents?
There is a serious constitutional question of their jurisdiction here.
