How is Oberlin getting away with this? When does Gibson’s Bakery get what is owed to them? Ellie Gardey writes at the American Spectator: Oberlin College, Facing $36 Million Penalty for Defamatory Woke Activism, Dives Deeper Into Wokism The historically liberal Oberlin College, located in Oberlin, Ohio, is still refusing to pay up for defaming Gibson’s Bakery as racist in 2016. The college, which is financially underwater, has now asked the Ohio Supreme Court to halt the multi-million dollar judgment while it appeals the decision for the second time.

With mail-in ballots becoming a feature of all future elections, the United States government, specifically the United States Postal Service (USPS) is now creating a permanent division inside USPS to control the delivery and return of the election ballots. Do you know the political affiliation of your mail courier? As often said, it’s not the vote that matters, it’s the counting….or in this instance, the collection of the votes that really matters.(Snip)Keep in mind the union representing 300,000 U.S. postal workers previously endorsed Democrat Joe Biden for president. The National Association of Letter Carriers, is a fully compromised left-wing division of the USPS.

We found out on Thursday the Biden administration will fill in the gaps in Trump’s border wall near Yuma, AZ. Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about Biden’s comments when he was a candidate. Jean-Pierre: "We are not finishing the wall." You’re not? I know this administration loves to change language and linguistics, but this is too much. Also, in 2019, Jean-Pierre called Trump’s wall racist. Is it racist when Biden does it? Jean-Pierre had the hardest time justifying the action while calling it ineffective and racist and claiming you’re just cleaning up Trump’s mess while trying to save lives:

It is over 3 years since Gibson’s Bakery obtained judgment against Oberlin College for almost $32 million, which with accumulated interest nears $36 million, the amount of a bond posted by the college through Zurich American Insurance to secure the judgment. Neither “Grandpa” Allyn Gibson nor his son David Gibson lived to see the Gibson family collect. They both passed away, as Oberlin College waited them out. Oberlin College has done everything possible to delay the Gibson’s getting the money, including an appeal which the college lost and another appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court, which has not yet ruled on whether it will hear the case.

A Pennsylvania man named Mark Aungst who was set to be sentenced over his presence in the Capitol on January 6th has committed suicide. He was 47-years-old and leaves behind a daughter and other family members. Hasn’t all of this gone far enough?(Snip)Earlier this year, another Pennsylvania man named Matthew Perna also committed suicide while awaiting sentencing over January 6th. According to Julie Kelly, this is the third suicide. People are expressing sadness and anger on Twitter. What’s being done to the January 6th defendants is un-American, and it’s past time for our leaders in Washington to say so in a unified voice.

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden’s administration said climate change can “force” military invention after once again calling it a “national security issue.”(Snip)“...we’re going to treat it that way,” he concluded.(Snip)Kirby said climate change impacts the U.S. military’s readiness “because our--our troops, our sailors, our Marines, our airmen, our Coast Guardsmen are being called out for--to respond to natural disasters, which are getting worse because of climate change.”(Snip)The Biden administration’s expensive focus on climate change comes as Americans struggle to put food on the table amid skyrocketing inflation. Over the last year, inflation has risen 9.1 percent--the largest spike in nearly 40 years.

Perhaps U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan was distracted. If he was, that could explain the Urbana Republican’s dismissal of the Respect for Marriage Act, which passed the House Monday, as “unnecessary.” Anyone with even a passing familiarity with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ concurring opinion in the decision striking down Roe v. Wade knows about the conservative justice’s ominous suggestions. (Snip) Thomas wrote that the court should overturn decisions that protect same-sex marriage, same-sex sexual relations and access to contraceptives. All are rooted in the due process clause of the Constitution and the right to privacy that undergirded Roe.

One day, I will no longer write about covid.(Snip)After two years of covid lockdowns, restrictions, and progressive virtue signaling with promises of being able to contain an uncontainable virus, the country is seeing a surge in covid cases. Laughably, officials say they “know how to manage it.” Top U.S. health officials warned Tuesday that a surge of COVID-19 cases driven by the highly transmissible Omicron subvariant BA.5 has arrived, but stressed that the country has the tools--like vaccines and antiviral treatments--to prevent people from getting seriously ill.(Snip)The public health emergency has been in effect, with extensions, since January 2020.

There is "no substantial constitutional question" for Ohio Supreme Court justices to consider when reviewing Gibson's Bakery's appeal over limits on monetary damage awards, attorneys for Oberlin College argued in a court filing Wednesday. The Gibsons and their attorneys are "distorting" the court record so their arguments will be heard, the college told the state's highest court in a memorandum. The bakery and its owners' arguments also are not "an issue of public or great general interest worthy of this court's review," the college's attorneys argued.

The midterms happen in November. People expect a huge red wave. So weird that the State Department has offered up to $10 million for any information on foreign interference in our elections: The reward offer seeks information leading to the identification or location of any foreign person or entity who knowingly engaged or is engaging in foreign election interference. The reward offer also seeks information leading to the prevention, frustration, or favorable resolution of an act of foreign election interference, including by dismantling, in whole or significant part, an organization engaged in such activity.(Snip)...it applies to all elections in the country:

Most Christians who oppose abortion believe that the practice involves killing. The Bible is pretty clear about that. Campus Reform reports: ‘There is no biblical basis for the ban on abortion,’ Yale Divinity School claims. Yale Divinity School (YDS) published a pro-abortion statement that opposed the recent Supreme Court decision to reverse Roe v. Wade, claiming there is no “biblical basis” for abortion bans.(Snip)Sterling cites Exodus 21:22-25 to suggest that the Bible distinguishes between the life of a child and a fetus.(Snip)“It is not at all clear that today’s decision reflects a text like Exodus 21:22–25.”

U.S. crude inventory in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) fell by 6.9 million barrels in the week to June 24, according to data from the Department of Energy. Stockpiles in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) fell to 497.9 million barrels, the lowest since April 1986, according to the data. About 1 million barrels of sweet crude and 6 million barrels of sour crude were released in to the market.
Comments:
Some posters at Legal Insurrection have raised the question why the Ohio Supreme Court is “taking so long in deciding whether to hear the case? The appeal was months ago.”
