It began when Lisa Fulmore called her 20-year-old son, Michael Morgan—who has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a deadly weapon—to fume that McDonald’s workers were being disrespectful toward her over her complaints about cold fries. “I was on the phone with my son. I was like, ‘They in this McDonald’s playing with me,’” she said. Morgan then arrived and, after an argument with a McDonald’s employee, allegedly shot him in the neck and ran off. (Morgan’s girlfriend has also been charged for some as-yet-unrevealed involvement.) Did his mother disapprove of his actions? “My son is just saying that he gotta do what he gotta do

The numbers say it all. Compared to 2013, they have 12% of the convictions this year so far that they had in 2013 for major crimes.
For smaller crimes, in 2013, they had " 7,528 convictions for disposed infraction/violation cases. This year, it has gotten 16."
Criminals recognize that crime has been essentially legalized. And these violent barbarians, instead of being put in the cages where they belong, a let roam the streets and buildings to beat, shoot and kill at will. Even if arrested, they will be back on the street harming people before the cop can finish filling out the paperwork. No bail, no punishment. No point in even arresting them.
You either defend yourself, or you have no defense at all. Since a concealed carry permit was nearly impossible to get, and now is worthless, since ALL public places are prohibited (until the law is struck down), you cannot legally defend yourself, AT ALL.
Time to leave.

A No-Go Zone with great museums, restaurants, Broadway and Wall Street. The problem for them is that these things can be moved when normal people stop using them.

This is all very scholarly and think-tanky. What we have are a bunch of mostly black people without boundaries who have been bred (I won’t say raised) by others without boundaries, and we are looking at generations of bad behavior. Now that is exacerbated by a liberal black mayor, who himself has a past crimnal record, and a liberal soft on (black) crime black DA. How do the good citizens of NYC get their city back? I do not believe that those who cause the problem are reading scholarly essays.

"as-yet-unrevealed involvement"? Girlfriend was the one with the gun...handed it to the shooter.

‘ What has changed such mundane interactions to make them suddenly so fraught with the potential for violence?’
The word ‘entitlement’ replaced words that could (and should) produce shame.

Seems as if the author overlooked the one common denominator in all of the mayhem, not just in NYC, but all over the country. The one subhuman culture who cannot seem to abide by any sort of normal behavior...inner city blacks.

#3 hits it out if the park.
People without fathers and no moral compass that no policy paper can fix. I’ll throw in Hollywood. (Have you seen the programming on BLK and/or WE TV?!)
To me, these are conditions of the heart, which begs for a “lord,” other than their selfish desires and base needs.
My 4th grade teacher made us memorize Ps 1. EVERYONE had to memorize it. Those words stayed with me and resonate more and more every day.
Instead of 10 Commandments, we have a jillion laws, regulations, edicts, and policies.
But that’s ok. At least we have “separated” Church and State.

In the three instances cited, race was not stated. She notes what they said . They never went to school?

And this children is the blacks hunt each other on hot summer nights. Looking for those that dissed them or family members. Remember, no diss is so small that it does not deserve to be murdered over. If you will shoot someone over cold fries and say "he is doing what he has to do" you are a sick SOB. Until the black community looks in the mirror and admits they are their own worst enemy they have no hope.

Every medium-to-large city in America has been overrun with these ignorant, foul-mouthed, violent, drug-addled welfare scum. And, yes - almost all of them are black. It’s time for every black person in America to kick these pieces of trash to the curb, and stop defending them.
Black men under 25 make up about 5% of the population of America. They commit at least 40% of the violent crime. Deal with it, or nothing will change.

People are taught to be civilized. Many people are not. Many people behave in a civilized fashion because they don't want to deal with the consequences. Our entire justice system is a deterrent. Remove that deterrent, defund the police, don't prosecute the offenders, and we all see what happens. Currently this is aimed at the black community, but it would happen elsewhere if deterrents were removed across the board. This is being done to fuel racial strife.
It's not just blacks. It's not just NYC.

This is why I stay far away from NYC, and why, whenever I go out in public, I am armed. And why I spend time at the range, knocking the rust off of my shooting skills.
One day, I may be forced to defend myself, my family or others from one of these violent barbarians who thinks that beating or shooting someone over cold french fries or some other minor social friction is normal behavior.

I have read the phrase “going on safari.” The premise is that when you go on safari you do nothing that would anger or trigger the wildlife to attack.
Does this sound familiar to Democrat controlled city dwellers?

'Escape from New York' used to be a movie title.
I would wager that now it's the objective of most of the law-abiding citizens who are still stuck there.
On the other hand, Noo Yawk, the city and the state, elected this government, they get what they voted for.
As for me, I'm safely away in Flyover Country, in a place where the laws are still enforced.
Sorry, Noo Yawk, my Give-A-Dam's Busted.
Oh, and Enjoy those new Immigrants that you are so they happy crossed into Texas, but which you are so upset that a very few of them made it up to YOUR back yard!

Keep voting for Dems, New Yorkers. Maybe you will get lucky and one of them might actually know what they are doing.
