Sunday, during this week’s broadcast of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA) argued for her January 6 House Select Committee colleague Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) to be the face of the Republican Party going forward.
Luria said her voice was “needed” when asked about the prospects of Luria running for president as a Republican in 2024.
“I admire Liz Cheney,” she said. “I’ve been friendly with her ever since I came to Congress, even before we served on this committee together. And I think, you know, if she doesn’t come through this primary and come back to Congress, there are so many things that she can do in the future

Everywhere I go these days, the question I seem to hear most often is, "What’s wrong today? Why the violence, the shootings, the divisions, the vitriol in our nation, our cities, our society?" I’m hardly the only one getting such questions: other spiritual leaders, teachers, politicians, parents and pundits tell me that they ask and get asked the same all the time.
I listen intently to the answers given to that plea by so many respected voices in the country. Most will rattle off the usual suspects: it’s the lousy economy, some opine; it’s all the political strife that drives us apart, others might suggest.

President Joe Biden is considering issuing government identification (ID) cards to border crossers and illegal aliens who are set for release into American communities as part of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) expansive “catch and release” operation.
Late last week, Axios reported that Biden is considering issuing the IDs to illegal aliens once they arrived at the United States-Mexico border. The goal is to make securing public benefits easier once they are released into the U.S. interior.

Prepare for the incoming red wave, because we just got more signs that, if the numbers hold, it’s going to be big.
I wrote a week ago about the Fox poll that had the Republicans up by three points in the generic ballot. According to the Fox News models, that advantage would translate to a GOP win, with a gain of 23 seats.
Now, other polls are coming in even higher than that.
First, we have the Trafalgar Group poll on the generic Congressional ballot. That has the Republicans up by more than eight points among likely voters, Republicans 48.3 percent to Democrats 40.2. That’s with even a greater percentage of Democrats

The historic surge of illegal immigrants across America’s southern border is fueling a hidden crime spree few in Washington seem willing or able to address: widespread identity theft victimizing unwitting Americans, perpetrated by migrants who need U.S. credentials to work.
An extensive review of government reports, think-tank research, news accounts, and interviews with policymakers and scholars suggests the problem involves millions of people—though measuring it with precision is difficult because of the lack of data provided by authorities.
A telling indication of the scope of the criminality is provided by a little-known government accounting book, the Social Security Administration’s Earnings Suspense File (ESF).

Now, according to various media outlets, time may be running out for Hunter, with a federal investigation entering a “critical stage” — yet timing still could be on Hunter’s side.

This week saw Joe Biden’s cratering poll numbers fall even lower. On Wednesday, four polls came out and the results are bleak. Reuters: 36 percent. Politico: 38 percent. Rasmussen: 39 percent. Economist/YouGuv: 40 percent. Unsurprisingly, the networks skipped coverage of the latest terrible news for the President.
But it’s not particularly surprising. An MRC/NewsBusters study last fall found that ABC, CBS and NBC covered Donald Trump’s low polling almost twice as much as the flailing Biden. As I explained on October 26, 2021, “While ABC, CBS and NBC mentioned Donald Trump’s unpopularity 37 times, they only noted the rapidly dropping numbers for Biden 19 times.”

To say that the Biden administration failed to think through the consequences of confrontation with Russia over Ukraine might be the understatement of the 21st century. Western observers are shocked—shocked —to learn that Putin will ally himself with our enemies. Wrote the Daily Telegraph on July 19, “Desperate for new friends, Vladimir Putin plots unholy alliance with Iran and Turkey.” This isn’t desperation, though, but a trade-off that Russia has pondered for nearly twenty years. Since the outcome of the 2020 presidential election became clear, there has been widespread speculation that there would be an epic electoral rematch in 2024, with the combatants being an incumbent Joe Biden versus Donald Trump attempting to channel his inner Grover Cleveland.
Yet the closer we get to our next quadrennial exercise of choosing our commander-in-chief, the more likely it appears that we may indeed see a presidential election rematch, but with a ballot matching the ones with which we cast votes in 2016, not in 2020. Hillary Clinton’s flirtations with another candidacy are becoming increasingly clear and undeniable.

We can’t confirm if this is a fake op, but a small group of people carrying Nazi flags and anti-Semitic material turned up outside the Turning Point Student Action Summit in Tampa, Florida, Saturday. They also were holding a picture of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and a DeSantis flag, although DeSantis would have nothing to do with such things.

Former vice president and global warming activist Al Gore claimed in a pre-recorded interview Saturday that those who deny climate change are comparable to police officers who refuse to enter a school to stop a shooting.
In an interview set to air on Sunday, Gore told NBC, “You know the climate deniers are really in some ways similar to all of those almost 400 law enforcement officers in Uvalde, Texas, who were waiting outside an unlocked door while the children were being massacred. They heard the screams, they heard the gunshots, and nobody stepped forward.”

If you have been paying any attention at all to academia in this country, you know it has entered a dark age, neglecting what my alma mater once described as its function: A place for the sifting and winnowing of ideas. Today’s academic “marketplace” increasingly sells only one product, drives others from the agora with a variety of bullying actions, and threatens both the sellers and purchasers into silence about alternate products. (Snip)
We are entering a future where blacklisting, censorship, and the abuse of power will become the norm, because apparently the new generation thinks such things are always justified, if they have been offended in any way.

First, California Governor Gavin Newsom ran television ads in Florida, now he’s placing print advertisements in Texas newspapers. He was soundly thumped by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for the ads in the Sunshine State, so it’s unclear what he’s hoping to achieve in the Lone Star State.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz was quick to weigh in: (Tweet) According to Deadline, the “Gavin for Governor” campaign is running ads in three Texas newspapers—the Austin American-Statesman, the Houston Chronicle, and the El Paso Times—slamming Texas Governor Greg Abbott on guns and abortion. I have a feeling a lot of Texans aren’t going to appreciate his message.

Here we go again. Yet another anonymously sourced report claims the long-running federal probe into Hunter Biden has reached a “critical stage” as prosecutors decide whether to charge the president’s son.
This time the breathless story came from CNN. In March, it was The New York Times and The Washington Post insisting the probe over taxes, lobbying and other potential crimes was approaching the finish line.
Sooner or later, somebody’s scoop will be true and the case actually will conclude. But count me skeptical that the ending will be worth the wait.

The skeptical philosopher David Hume is one of the giants not just of the Enlightenment, but of the whole history of philosophy. But that was not enough to save him from being canceled in his native Scotland. At the instance of “woke” students, who wallow in incorrigible ignorance, David Hume Tower at the University of Edinburgh was re-named “40 George Square.” Hume’s offense was that, while he opposed slavery, there is a footnote in a 1758 essay where he wrote that he was “apt to suspect the negroes to be naturally inferior to the whites.”
Now comes the good news: the University’s donors are not as benighted

So what did we learn from the final “cliffhanger” season finale of the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the Capitol? Of course, the cast hopes to be renewed for another season and promised to be “baaack!” in September.
Well, first, the Democrats of both parties are interested only in convincing people not to vote for Trump again. They’re not so much interested in improving security at the Capitol or improving communications or lines of cooperation among security agencies involved. Even the handling of the six permits issued by the U.S. Capitol could be improved, but that’s not interesting.

A Maryland public school district asserts kids have the “right” to keep their in-school gender identities private from parents, according to Montgomery County Public School’s “Guidelines for Student” Gender Identity.
The guidelines vow to “respect the right of students to keep their gender identity or transgender status private and confidential,” including parents who do not affirm the child’s perceived gender identity. When building a “Gender Support Plan,” educators are told to work with the student’s family only “if the family is supportive of the student” and their perceived identity, according to the district’s guidance.

For all of the media’s hyperventilating about the GOP’s “culture war,” most Republicans show little to no interest in fighting it. In truth, the “culture war” is hopelessly one-sided, pitting tenacious Democrats against irresolute or decadent Republicans. Take Nancy Pelosi’s recent gay marriage bill. It passed in the House of Representatives not in spite of the GOP but in part because of it: 47 Republicans, including members of GOP leadership, joined the Democrats in supporting the bill.
Imagine the cries of horror from the media and the Democratic base if 47 Democrats ever voted for a piece of GOP legislation on a crucial social issue. That’s inconceivable

The Federal Bureau of Investigation launched an inquiry into National Institutes of Health funding of bat research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the Epoch Times reports. The FBI involvement, “adds to the international scrutiny on the Wuhan facility, which houses one of China’s highest-level biosecurity labs that has been considered a possible source of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
In an email obtained by Judicial Watch, an NIH investigation officer directs a message titled “Grant Questions—FBI inquiry” to FBI agent David Miller. Heavy redactions render the extent of the investigation unclear but the name of the attachment corresponds to the NIH grant for “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence.”

Here’s my rule: Any person, place, or thing that has sex as its central focus is something that is not healthy, whether for itself or for others. American corporations would do well to remember that—but of course, now that their entire management staff is filled with people who have graduated from college in the last 20 years years, they are incapable of keeping sex and sexuality out of their sights. The latest to fall is Crayola, which for no reason whatever decided that the way to celebrate crayons—a product associated with children—was to rhapsodize about a bearded lady who likes color.

Politico calls the coming avalanche of bad economic news a “Category 5 storm.” Indeed, the Biden administration may want to dig a hole and hide while Biden goes to his summer home in Delaware, given the depressing numbers that will come out of Washington this coming week. Consumer confidence numbers (which currently stink) hit on Tuesday. A Federal Reserve meeting and decision on interest rates, coupled with a press conference from Fed Chair Jerome Powell, follows up on Wednesday.
The first reading on second quarter economic growth drops on Thursday. And the latest numbers on our vexing run of historically high consumer price inflation close out the monster run

A new billboard is popping up in Times Square to troll Biden’s Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for believing that people who are struggling at the gas pump should buy expensive electric vehicles instead.
The billboard was purchased by the Job Creator’s Network, an small business advocacy organization launched by Bernie Marcus, the co-founder and former CEO of Home Depot.
The billboard reads, “PAIN AT THE PUMP? ELITE PETE SAYS, ‘LET THEM DRIVE ELECTRIC CARS'”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis blasted the Chinese Communist Party on Friday for buying up huge chunks of farmland and other properties in the Sunshine State.
Speaking to Fox News' Laura Ingraham, DeSantis - considered a potential 2024 presidential candidate and currently running for re-election in Florida - said Beijing purchasing American real estate is a growing concern.
'I don't think they should be able to do it. I think the problem is these companies have ties to the CCP, and it's not always apparent on the face of whatever a company is doing - but I think it's a huge problem.'

Former AG Bill Barr said Mexican drug cartels should be wiped off the Earth like ISIS because they're far too rich and powerful to prosecute.
Barr, 72, sat down with Newsmax's Greta Van Susteren to discuss to Mexican drug cartels.
He likened them to terrorist groups, and said they should be treated as such, particularly as they've been blamed for inundating the US with deadly fentanyl.
'I think [the Mexicans] have to be forced and pushed into action with us,' he said. 'I think we have to more active against the cartels. I

As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. In my book, a #1 hit on iTunes by country music superstar John Rich burning the “woke” left and its “progress” to the ground — along with the disastrous policies of Joe Biden, in the process — does the job just fine.
Toss in a healthy dose of patriotism, and we’re talking off the charts. In the case of “Progress,” literally.
“There’s a hole in this country where its heart used to be,” Rich sings in the opening line of the track, and continues with powerful lyric after powerful lyric–destroying the left and its insidious attack against America

HOLLYWOOD, FL — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) pointed to scripture to show fellow conservatives how to battle against the radical left and their schemes, urging the crowd to “put on the full armor of God.”
“If you’re running for the legislature, if you’re just a concerned citizen going to a school board meeting, you’re going to a public meeting, standing up and speaking the truth and standing for the right things at this moment in time is not cost free,” he said at the 2022 Sunshine Summit Victory dinner.

An official from the World Health Organization (WHO) admitted on Saturday that everyone who received the Monkeypox vaccine is considered to be part of a “clinical study” for the purpose of data collecting so that researchers can learn more about the “effectiveness of the vaccine.”
On Saturday, WHO conducted a media briefing with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and experts to discuss the Monkeypox outbreak.
Tim Nguyen, the Unit Head of Global Infectious Hazards Preparedness at the World Health Organization Emergency Programme, said that the vaccine efficacy is yet unknown since it has never been used on this scale before.
