Climate change is causing more frequent and intense droughts, storm, heat waves, rising sea levels and melting glaciers and to stop this destruction, MIT researchers proposes 'Space Bubbles' to shield Earth from the sun's rays to combat the devastation.
This geoengineering idea would feature inflatable bubbles, organized in a circular shape the size of Brazil, which would sit between the Earth and the sun, blocking radiation from hitting our planet.
'We believe that inflating thin-film spheres directly in space from a homogeneous molten material–such as silicon can provide the variation in thickness that refracts a broader wave spectrum and allows us to

MSNBC host and commentator Joy Reid spoke out over the weekend about what she feels is unfair media coverage of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Reid blamed the 'white, male media' for treating Harris with a bias that would not be found during the tenure of her predecessors, in an interview with The Root.
'Think about her portfolio, voting rights, immigration and the border, and police reform. The things on her plate are the toughest things that the Biden Administration has to deal with outside of inflation and the war in Ukraine,' said Reid.

Ex-Fulton County election worker Wandrea ArShaye 'Shaye' Moss told the Jan. 6 committee that she has received a barrage of harassment and threats after Rudy Giuliani accused her of passing along a USB connected to fake votes that turned out to be a ginger mint.
'It's turned my life upside down,' Moss said, adding that she hardly leaves the house, gained 60 lbs and oftentimes wouldn't even introduce herself using her real name.
Schiff asked the election worker: 'Mr. Giuliani accused you and your mother of passing some sort of USB drive to each other. What was your mom actually handing you in that video?'
'A ginger mint,' Moss said.

Barack and Michelle Obama's multiyear deal with Amazon's podcast platform Audible is worth at least $20million, experts have claimed.
The couple will have to contribute two shows and appear in up to eight episodes each, the industry insiders said.
The move will give the former first lady the scope to make less personal appearances than what was wanted under their former partnership with Spotify, the sources said.
Audible said the pair plan to use their new platform to 'tell stories that elevate diverse voices and and experiences'.
The Obamas cut ties with Spotify after reportedly clashing with the streaming giant over exclusivity and how much they were expected to appear in episodes.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell pulled the drapes off an art display of an oversized black fist afro comb on Friday in celebration of Juneteenth — the holiday commemorating the ending of U.S. slavery.
Cantrell, who tweeted a series of photos of the display, called the artwork “breathtaking.”
“This sculpture is very fitting for this time & place as we celebrate the freedoms that we have gained,” Cantrell said on Twitter. “We know that it doesn’t come without struggles, fights, and protests for 200+ years.”

Soccer star Megan Rapinoe says parents need to realize their children’s sports just aren’t “that important.”
The former Subway spokeswoman gave a recent interview in which she chastised parents for making a big deal out of trans athletes in girls’ sports.
“I would also encourage everyone out there who is afraid someone’s going to have an unfair advantage over their kid to really take a step back and think what are we actually talking about here,” the 36-year-old said. “We’re talking about people’s lives. I’m sorry, your kid’s high school volleyball team just isn’t that important.”

Only a “massive” and immediate scaling-up of funds and humanitarian relief can save Somalia from famine, a UN spokesperson has warned, as aid workers report children starving to death “before our eyes” amid rapidly escalating levels of malnutrition. In a message to G7 leaders who are meeting from Sunday in Germany, Michael Dunford, the World Food Programme’s (WFP) regional director for east Africa, said governments had to donate urgently and generously if there was to be any hope of avoiding catastrophe in the Horn of Africa country.
“We need money and we need it now,” said Dunford.(Snip)Last year, the UK and other G7 leaders promised to provide $7bn

A bipartisan working group of U.S. Senators — 10 Democrats and 10 Republicans — finally unveiled the result of their work on federal firearm legislation spurred by the tragic shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, one that increasingly looks to have been worsened by a failure in local authorities' response.
The text's release was delayed this week by some last-minute negotiations over a ban on any healthcare-related funds in the bill being used to pay for abortions, but that hurdle was cleared by Tuesday afternoon when the final text was released.
Totaling 80 pages, the bill text can be viewed below:

The global monkeypox outbreak is 'likely' to get 10 times bigger, according to the scientists behind the models that plunged the UK into Covid lockdowns. London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine scientists, who estimated how monkeypox will continue to spread, warned it is 'highly likely' that another 10,000 cases of the tropical virus would be spotted worldwide. Their model, calculated in May when just 728 cases were confirmed or suspected globally, suggests the outbreak will largely affect the men who have sex with men community, while a surge in cases among other groups is 'unlikely'. The outbreak, which was

In the neighborhood in which my kids grew up, none of the high-school-aged boys wanted to date. The problem was that the high school girls were too difficult. They were in the early stages of becoming the screaming, woke feminists who were so prominent during the George Floyd rallies. On Twitter, a girl like that, only now grown up to be a mother and academic, tweeted something generically nasty about the “alt-right” hatefulness of White boys in middle school—and an 18-year-old decided to explain exactly why White boys are embracing non-woke standards.

In an ominous replay of the end of Kamala Harris’ 2020 presidential campaign, the DNC is reported to have reduced the price for donors to pose for a photo with Harris from $15,000 to $5,000 just a week after the Democratic National Committee postponed a major fundraiser headlined by Kamala Harris because of a failure to sell tickets, according to a report by Puck News.
