Yesterday we learned that the suspect in the attempted murder of Justice Kavanaugh showed up at his home with bags containing a gun, a knife, pepper spray, zip ties and tools to break into his house. He told investigators he wanted to give his life purpose by killing Kavanaugh (before killing himself). Today, media outlets have gotten hold of the two 911 calls that Roske made shortly after he arrived. He made two calls. The first one was about a minute and ended when he couldn’t tell the dispatcher exactly where he was located. But he called back a moment later, gave an address and spoke

Joe Biden and the Democrats don’t want to have to talk about policies or any of the real issues afflicting the country right now. Because if they did, the focus would be on all their failures. That’s why they want the focus now to be on the Jan. 6 Committee and the show trial that they want to sell you.
Not only is it a show trial, it even has a producer, as my colleague Jeff Charles reported, like any TV drama — according to Axios, “James Goldston — former president of ABC News, and a documentary storyteller who ran ‘Good Morning America’ and ‘Nightline’ —

CEOs Chip Bergh from Levi Strauss (pictured, left), Lauren Hobart from Dick’s Sporting Goods (pictured, right), and 248 other company heads are sending a letter to the Senate on Thursday asking for more gun control.
Axios acquired a copy of the letter, which replicates a letter that was originally sent to Congress in 2019. There are some revisions to the message and an increased number of signatories.
The push to re-send the letter is the result of a partnership between Levi’s and Mike Bloomberg-affiliated Everytown for Gun Safety.
In the letter, CEOs describe gun violence as a “public health crisis,” noting economic impact of gun crime and the human cost of gun crime.

Joe Biden was speaking at the Summit of the Americas on Thursday.
As we’ve already noted, it hasn’t been going well. Biden stumbled up the stairs as he was boarding Air Force One for Los Angeles. Then, Biden was met by a protester rushing the motorcade who had to be subdued. Meanwhile, a lot of the countries didn’t show up because of the poor way that the Biden team dealt with the event. While objecting to the human rights violations of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela is a good thing and we should encourage that, how weak is it if

Disney has ousted a top executive who slammed Florida’s anti-grooming, Parental Rights in Education law as “a violation of fundamental human rights.”
Peter Rice was fired from his post as Chairman of Walt Disney Television and Co-Chair, Disney Media Networks, and will replace him with Dana Walden, Chairman of Entertainment, Walt Disney Television, according to a report by Deadline.
Rice, who spoke out against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R)’s Parental Rights in Education law, joined Disney in 2019, after the company acquired 21st Century Fox.
In March, Rice told The Hollywood Reporter that he viewed the anti-grooming legislation in Florida as “a violation of fundamental human rights.”

Former classmates, colleagues, and friends of the California man accused of attempting to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh early Wednesday described him as a friendly but sometimes “socially awkward” young man who tended to fly “under the radar.”
None of the people who spoke to National Review said they had reason to believe that Nicholas John Roske, 26, of Simi Valley, would be a threat to kill anyone. Roske’s grandfather, Dan Shannon, told CBS Los Angeles that his grandson was a “good kid,” and the allegations against him are “extremely” out of character for him.
A former colleague of Roske’s said he did not stand out

Let me quote myself from a post published May 8 about the danger of people showing up at the justices’ homes: “[I]n the current political context, a fanatic has more motive to kill one of the Court’s conservatives than just satiating his or her rage. Doing so would provide a strategic benefit to the pro-choice side. Congress should give them all the bodyguards they need, and then some.”
When you have reason to believe that five justices have signed onto overturning Roe but the decision hasn’t been handed down yet, that’s an incentive to take one of those votes away by any means necessary. Especially since a Democratic president

President Joe Biden popped into the press cabin during an Air Force One flight Wednesday afternoon, surprising reporters with an off-the-record appearance.
But the president spent most of his time complaining about their negative coverage of his administration, according to Politico’s West Wing Playbook, citing “multiple people familiar” with the meeting.
Biden spoke with reporters on his way to California for the Summit of the Americas, even as some of the leaders of prominent Latin American countries refused to attend.
The establishment media has grown more skeptical of Biden’s efforts to help reduce inflation, lower gas prices, and solve the baby formula shortage that has plagued his administration.

The man who traveled to Maryland to try to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh has been identified as Nicholas John Roske, from Simi Valley, California. He apparently made it to Justice Kavanaugh’s house before being apprehended:
Nicholas John Roske, 26, of Simi Valley, Calif., was charged with attempted murder after two U.S. deputy marshals saw him step out of a taxicab in front of the justice’s house in Chevy Chase, Md., early Wednesday morning, federal prosecutors said. Mr. Roske was dressed in black and carrying a suitcase and a backpack, according to a federal affidavit.
Inside the suitcase and backpack, the authorities later discovered a “black tactical chest rig and tactical knife,”

On Wednesday, as part of a slate of bills aimed at curbing mass shootings and gun violence, the House voted to increase the age required to purchase a semi-automatic rifle from 18 to 21.
The vote was 228 to 199, with ten Republicans joining Democrats in supporting the measure. Those GOP members were Representatives Fitzpatrick, Gonzalez, Jacobs, Katko, Kinzinger, Malliotakis, Salazar, Smith, Turner, and Upton.

The Department of Homeland Security’s ill-fated disinformation board would have been part of an effort to work with private social-media platforms to police their content, two senators revealed Wednesday, citing new documents provided to them by a whistleblower.
The documents described the issues that led DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to want to create the board. Among them were such heated topics as debates over the coronavirus pandemic and efficacy of vaccines, and what Homeland Security described as “conspiracy theories about the validity and security of elections.”
The documents also suggested the board would play the role of policy cop at Homeland Security,

Whenever I look at a poll regarding Joe Biden, I keep saying he has to hit a bottom — that he can’t just keep going lower, can he? Of course, he keeps doing things to deserve going lower, so yes, the polls keep getting worse and worse for him. He’s already lower than all modern presidents who held the office.
In the last poll, I covered the ABC/Ipsos poll, he was hitting now, in the high 20s, approval on inflation and gas prices, and over 70 percent disapproval. It’s hard to get much worse than that. That was similar to the poll covered on CNN a few days
