Since his elevation to the pontificate in 2013, Pope Francis has consistently echoed the globalist narrative that we make sacrifices for the planet in “reparation” for the “sins” committed against her. His whole demeanor has been ecological as opposed to Catholic, though his latest stunt takes the cake. His meatless sacrifice is a mockery of the true sacrifice that Christians render to God
Francis is now urging the youth to “make noise” to be heard and to eat less meat as a means of curbing global warming and saving the planet. in a July 6 letter addressed to the participants in the European Union’s 2022 Youth Conference, the pope said.

leave him alone. He was pro-life where and when it was most difficult. All his life. You leave him alone. As well he preaches that there is Truth, that men and women are different, that there is a God who rules all, and that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. Have you had the courage to do that? You lay off. Who is the audience for whom you mock him? Evidently a bunch of bigots, whose existence I wouldn't know of if you weren't sending out dog whistles.

Think of all the meat saved, and all the CO2 saved----if leftists would do what they say. If leftists would only do that, it would not matter what everyone else did.

Sorry #2, I'm Catholic and have been my whole life, but Pope Francis should stick to the doctrines of the church - period!
I would rather have a conservative Pope benedict.

That's the ticket. Right, Pope F? If we would just eat bugs, the planet will be all right?

The actual quote in context:
Here too I was pleased to note that while previous generations talked a lot and concluded little, you on the other hand have been capable of concrete initiatives. That is why I say that this, more than ever, is the right time. If you do not succeed in turning this self-destructive trend around, it will be difficult for others to do so in the future. Don’t let yourselves be seduced by the sirens that propose a life of luxury reserved for a small slice of the world. Instead, have that “broad outlook” that can take in all the rest of humanity, which is much bigger than our little continent. May you aspire to a life of dignity and sobriety, without luxury and waste, so that everyone in our world can enjoy a dignified existence. There is an urgent need to reduce the consumption not only of fossil fuels but also of so many superfluous things. In certain areas of the world, too, it would be appropriate to consume less meat: this too can help save the environment.
~~
The pope is obviously a believer in the idea that there is only so much wealth in the world, only so much prosperity to be had and that we must divvy it out equally. This is flatly untrue as history has taught us. The poor are still poor by modern standards but they are rich compared to the poor of only 100 years ago. THAT is because we didn't equitably slice up the pie.. no, we simply baked a bigger pie. That is how economies work when they are freed from just what Francis wants, authoritarian government interference.
Francis is a horrible theologian and an even worse economist.
Oh and #2, this is a salon not a saloon. Please don't throw around insults directed at fellow posters.

“in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils…commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.” Timothy 4:1-5

See how it works folks? Sacrifice is good for the soul! And there is no shortage of people willing to sacrifice those around them.

Had one of my favorite meals last night, something that I came to appreciate while working the Texas oil fields! In Louisiana it's called 'panned' meat, and in most other places, chicken fried steak w/ white gravy. I'm a lifelong Catholic, it was Friday nite and it was good. I hope a bunch of good Catholics listen to Frankie, and leave more meat for me. Hopefully, as they give it up, it will come down in price!

When I was in the seminary, in the 70s, there were people promoting this same garbage. I asked them "If cows don't eat the grain the farmers grow, does it magically transport to the beggar bowls in India?" and also, "You know cows are only fed the grain for 90 days before slaughter. Would the same mechanism transport grass to those beggar bowls?"
You guessed it. They didn't approve me for ordination.

Problem with this guy is he obviously refuses to crack open his Bible. If he did, he would not keep making so many missteps and try to blame them on God.

There was an old joke running around years ago about what kind of meat the pope eats on Friday.
Maybe I better hold onto the punch line.

Nowadays, I eat the most meat that ms squirrel and I can afford. We're not exactly down to bugs yet, but the neighbor's dog is just about fatted up for the grill.
