The chief of the World Health Organization said the expanding monkeypox outbreak in more than 70 countries is an “extraordinary” situation that now qualifies as a global emergency, a declaration Saturday that could spur further investment in treating the once-rare disease and worsen the scramble for scarce vaccines.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made the decision to issue the declaration despite a lack of consensus among experts serving on the U.N. health agency’s emergency committee. It was the first time the chief of the U.N. health agency has taken such an action.
“We have an outbreak that has spread around the world rapidly through new modes of transmission

Total BS. Not any kind of an emergency for normal people. Disgusting, perverse behaviors now have TWO diseases associated with them. And probably many more, truth be known.
Simple prevention.....don't do the particular behavior that causes the spread.
Most of us are safe.

Oh please. It is a gay disease, spread through indiscriminate sexual contact. It’s not fatal and most of us are at zero risk.

They mention, "New ways of transmission". What are these? In the meantime, you guys who like each other, stay zipped up and leave the rest of us alone by allowing another crisis to excuse the tyrants from their infamy.

Makes me think of the good ol' days when conservatives were focused on getting rid of the U.N. It continues to be a scary creature with many tentacles, the WHO being one of the most dangerous.

Of course he did. What about all those years in the past that the common cold was in "70 countries" at the same time?

The media should be asking Biden how he intends to protect the greater US population from the gay men who are bringing Monkeypox from foreign countries into the USA and will be spreading it across the US population?
As a known to be corrupt political animal, Biden’s answer will probably be to mask up and lockdown the greater US population before the election and only allow mail in voting.

Global if you make use of the wrong orifice. The latest guess makes that one to three percent of the population, hardly global.

Maybe the question should be what new modes of transmissions did they bioengineer?

The fear manufacturing escalates to code Blue! No wonder why I have seen an increase in fearful people wearing their masks. The warning label on mask boxes says masks do not prevent the transmission of infectious diseases. But put one on anyway. Do not believe this LIE!!!!

Less than 17,000 monkeypox cases WORLDWIDE.
Less than 3000 in the US. There's no emergency here.
As the World Health Organization said a few weeks ago: "The outbreak of monkeypox continues to primarily affect men who have sex with men who have reported recent sex with new or multiple partners."
This is another behavior driven disease and is 100% preventable.

It just needs to be rebranded, right? Didn’t someone complain that “monkeypox” has bad connotations? I say rename it something sweet that everybody loves. Let’s rename it “Fruity Pebbles.”

Reminds me of the 70s and 80s when homosexual men were dropping dead left and right from this new, deadly disease and we weren’t allowed to take them to task for their behavior which brought about the contagion. Oh nooo. Regardless of how it was started or spread they weren’t going to change their ways, because, you know. What we could do was finance the research to fix this awful disease, which is a homosexual disease, and don’t we dare correct or condemn them, because blah, blah.
I’m finally starting to see why the Bible is so adamant against homosexuality. Our ancestors down through the ages saw and understood the societal dangers and just plain health dangers of out of control men.

How convenient.
Democrat states will go full lockdown and mail in vote. How many fraudulent votes will they produce? 20 million? 30 million? 50 MILLION? They know nobody in authority will challenge them and will rub everyone's face in it.
Say 'No!' to monkey business!

Since Biden is a 100% liberal Democrat political animal you better believe that Biden will try to play some big time “Monkey Business” with this bogus emergency as the November election approaches. It will be interesting as how how Biden and the Democrats will attempt to take political advantage to their favor as the wimpy Republicans doze their chances away!

All homosexuals around the globe must be under quarantine 24/7/365 for the next decade to prevent the spread.
Those who do not comply must be shunned and refused service. No food, no health care, no work, public humiliation and shunning. If you have it, you must die alone and without comfort to protect us.
It is for their own good.
One decade to flatten the curve

Smallpox vaccine is 85% effective against monkeypox. The world declared smallpox irradiated and stopped vaccinations in 1979-80. Time to re-instate vaccine programs. The first reported animal to human case in the USA was in May 2003 when a three old Wisconsin girl was bitten by an infected pet prairie dog housed with an African Gambian rat by a Texas exotic pet exporter. There are other vaccines available other than using small pox. The virus is easily spread through innate objects that have come in contact with infected skin lesions..towels, bed linens, etc.. Nearly all the stages of the skin lesions are infectious. Early on the pox are very very nondescript and can easily be confused with other benign skin lesions. Close physical contact can spread the virus. Not so easily spread through large respiratory droplets. It is not known to be transmitted through semen.
