When attempting to predict the next wave of leftist insanity, it’s always smart to look to California, the land where Babylon Bee-style parody five years ago is inevitably tragic reality now, and the absurdist parody being written today is likely just a few months down the pike, if not already there. So naturally, in 2020 the land of fruits and nuts became the first state to establish a real-live “task force” to study the issue of slavery reparations. That task force made news earlier this month by voting to limit any compensation plan to, according to The Guardian, “descendants of enslaved and free

Here is a modest proposal to deal with reparations.
Colonization! Abraham Lincoln was a believer in colonization of blacks. Send all American blacks to a cuntry they could run, preferably located in Africa. Give them each a substantial amount of money. Build infrastructure in the new country.
But all blacks would have to leave the U.S., which is only consistent with the belief, and theory, that whites are bad, and whites are racist, born racist, as a matter of fact, and racist forever. Critical race theory would be affirmed, and no black would have to tolerate the existence of whitey in America, because no black would be in America.
Am I being racist for suggesting this solution? No more than a black who espouses critical race theory.
Would Lincoln have followed through on this, had he not gotten shot? I believe he would have.

My mentor brought a phrase to the surface. He spoke of Emotional Maturity. It seems that the key to adulthood is gaining control of one's emotions.
The idea of reparations is nothing more than a use of emotions to make us feel that we owe something.

I agree with Johnathan Perkins, the director for Race and Equity at University of California, Los Angeles. White people should begin “the conversation on race” by asking blacks what they want. We should end that conversation with a polite (but firm) No.

I've been enslaved by the Federal Government demanding I pay onerous unfair taxes. Does this mean I also get reparations?

Actually, with all the trillions of tax dollars wasted on every hair-brained idea Washington can come up with, I’d support a one lump sum payment, but in incremental payments. This generation only. If you want to leave something for your children, figure it out from your settlement. The recipients would have to sign an agreement that all grievance speech, policy and legislation stops upon signature. No more CRT, no more quotas, no more affirmative action, no more talk of “social justice,” no victimhood…nothing. It all goes back to square one. We have paid the debt you think we owe you, now shut the hell up. If any recipient violates the agreement in any way, payments stop…permanently. Keep in mind that the same people who handle Social Security would be the same ones in charge of reparations, but that’s life in the US. Put the legislation in stone and make it an amendment to the Constitution. One time, that’s it. Then, shut up.

I recently saw a Finding Your Roots show where one of the guests, Black actress whom I can't recall now, was shown her history showed her ancestors immigrated to the United States in the early part of the 1900's, and she learned her family was NOT "brought here against their will". She was shocked, to say the least, as her ancestors arrived from Barbados.
Another show had John Leguizano on who learned his ancestry went back to the original conquistador in South America. One who had been responsible for the slaughter, rape and pillage of the Native people's which he found difficult to learn. Presumably, he felt he was a victimized minority person (Latinx according to his Academy Award comment) and didn't realize the Spanish and Portugese who conquered nearly all of the land area of South, Central and large portions of North America were the oppressors of that time.
So, the whole issue of people paying for their forefather's sins can be a complicated thing. Maybe they should review the 1877 Compromise which gave the Presidency to the Republican in exchange for the removal of Federal troops, thus, ending the Reconstruction Era after the Civil War.

When I was in the military and we fired on the rifle range if we missed the target completely a red flag was waved. This flag was called Maggie's Drawers.
Wave these people who are trying to fleece America's tax payers a big Maggie's Drawers.
They miss the target and get NOTHING.

California was NOT a slave state so why do we owe reparations? California became a part of USA in 1848. No slaves here.
California has a population of 3% who can be called African Americans - all who have moved here after the depression or were born here.
We owe African Americans nothing more than we owe Whites or Illegals.
NOTHING!

Seems like YOUR reparations were paid for in WHITE MANS' BLOOD during a horrific war - hundreds of thousands of gallons of blood. Had blacks never been brought to these shores, our nation would be happier today.
Sadly, the TRUE history of slavery was never taught in our schools, otherwise Americans would know the extent to which the British Crown enslaved ALL sorts of people in order to clean their islands and populate their Colonies with "free" workers. Those pesky Catholics in Ireland for example, or any Dutch sailors they could apprehend, and criminals emptied from prisons, even orphan children living on the streets of London were snatched up and yes, all were "white." They were imprisoned on slave ships for weeks at a time before making the perilous journey to the Americas. If any survived they got the added bonus of getting worked to death, literally, since "white" slaves from Britain were "free," whereas blacks came with a steep price. Shortly after the States' won their Independence, Australia became the new "penal colony" for Great Britain. I can't understand why we were never taught about the "white slavery" that existed before our Independence. It's fundamental to our national origin and has NOTHING to do with Africa.
----
So here's the deal, the aggrieved "black" must first prove his/her ancestry extends along BOTH parental lines to being in the United States prior to 1860. Assuming that is indeed the case will result in a 100% Reparation Payment. Reparation Payments are based on that percentage. Next, you must physically remove yourself from these United States (and its Territories) to your "new country" of citizenship, after which you must send the State Department a letter declaring your new citizenship and relinquishing your U.S. Citizenship and Passport. You also forfeit any future claims against the United States of America. After State Department acceptance and processing, a check for up to $150,000 (maximum) will be sent in your name to one of the selected banks in your "new country." All Reparation Agreements are FINAL and irrevocable, and dual-citizenship will not be allowed. Enjoy your new life.

Also, exactly one half, a full 50% of my ancestors had absolutely NO SAY in what went on in this country until 1920 when women won the right to vote. So anyone who has a female anywhere in their ancestry should be given a pass. Right?

California became a state in 1850. California was not a slave state. Nobody in California owned slaves. Why would anyone in California owe any reparations for slavery when there was no slavery there? Liberal White guilt?

Simple answer - it will NEVER stop. There is no bottom to the desire for 'free stuff'.
Once 'reparations' are implemented in whatever form they might take, they will NEVER END.
The cost will finish bankrupting this country.
Proving lineage will be IMPOSSIBLE. Records were not kept the way they are today. Much of
the information needed to prove lineage simply on longer exists or it never did in the first place.
What then ? Counterfeit records will be rampant to the point that almost EVERYONE will be on
the dole for a piece of the money pie. And NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM was ever a slave,
or owned a slave or even KNEW someone who was a slave or owned a slave.
This is pure INSANITY for the almighty UNEARNED dollar bill and if not stopped will END
this country FOREVER.

Now let's see if I have this correct. Blacks that never experienced slavery are to be paid reparations by people that never owned slaves. This may have made some sense shortly after the Civil War when former slaves and owners were still alive, but that ship sailed a long time ago.

I am Caucasian.
I entered the workforce in 1979, well after the Federal 'Affirmative Action' laws favoring hiring and promoting Blacks over Whites went into effect. All my working career I had to outperform the competition by enough of a margin that I earned my promotions in SPITE of the racial discrimination against me.
So... where are MY reparations?
