Disney execs worried that Tinker Bell and Captain Hook were “potentially problematic” during their review of content headed to the new Disney+ streaming service, the New York Times reports. The review is part of Disney’s “Stories Matter” initiative, a wide-ranging effort to bring more inclusion into the Disney-sphere. From the project’s website:
As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, we are in the process of reviewing our library and adding advisories to content that includes negative depictions or mistreatment of people or cultures.
Tinker Bell (yes, I thought it was one word too) raised concern because she is “body conscious”

Yeah, we need a trans female to play the part of Tinker Bell, one with a flatter hind quarters.

When does the "inclusion" Disney desperately desires reach a limit? Will Disney next "include" practitioners of Necrophilia? Will rapists find their advocate? What is the next fetish that must be championed, celebrated, and marketed to children?

So Tinker Bell and Captain Hook might upset the delicate sensitivities of their audience, but grooming and sexualizing elementary school children is fine.

Better back in the day when classical music was introduced through cartoons to young children by creative adults who wanted to teach good things to them and make them want to learn more, and I can remember humor in cartoons that was sometimes subtle - maybe a little irony - but the creators of the cartoons never talked down to children. They did not underestimate them. That was then, and now........................................some want children to aspire to be mediocre.

I would hate to see the product of animation by Disney today that would be PC and unobtrusive. It would reek of weird sicko indoctrination/grooming for sure. I'll sit back and think of early Disney while Walt was still alive in the 1950s and early 60s.

When the Wonderful World of Disney was first broadcast on TV, Tinker Bell introduced the show. "Well, we can't have that!" say the current perverts in charge.

Just remember, hook didn't ALWAYS have a disability...
Peter happily told Wendy that he cut off Hook's hand and fed it to the crocodile, which is why it stalks Hook all over Neverland, hoping to get the rest of him.

I knew Disney was in trouble when Tinkerbell got pregnant with Elmer Fudd's baby. That was REALLY hushed up.

Tinker Bell is body conscious?? Really? As a kid I loved to watch her flitting around … leave it alone, Disney. Not everything has to be sexualized.

Well, gee. Since every piece of literature, movie, work of art, speech, tv show, or play must include some type of conflict I guess there will always be good guys and bad guys. So someone somewhere somehow will be offended. So just go sit down and shut up while the State feeds us some bland, approved, history-erasing pablum about how wonderful we all have been forever.
Wouldn't it be wild if the fake Metaverse ironically becomes a place to escape from our fake, fabricated pristine society?

So Disney wants a cartoon world where everybody is nice, gay and uninteresting? The problem is not with the Disney characters, it's the stupid family and pedophiles that run the organization. Their favorite character must be Goofy from the way they present themselves. When the theme parks close, the movies flop and the cruise ships all go to drydock, one of them will undoubtedly commission a study to determine what happened.

Disney equates Tinker Belle as a "young attractive woman who likes boys."
1st, that's pedophilia, she should like MEN.
2nd, she's not a "woman."
Tinker Belle is a pixie.

If Disney should lose money and attendance in the theme parks seriously declines. I do not think the people at the top making decisions, or the family will see the connection between the changes and declining success and popularity Disney has had for decades. I think they will push their agenda even if unpopular with the majority. They just will not care. I compare this with the tone-deaf response the Biden administration displays to the country, no matter the obvious pain it is causing so many people. His poll numbers continue to decline, people complain, and it falls on deaf ears. Arrogant, flippant, uncaring members of his team lie and keep Biden away from the public and refuse to honestly address any questions or concerns.

Oh, #9, thank you for the recollection of Tink opening the show. I can still feel the thrill of seeing her on the screen, knowing I can let myself be pulled into whatever wonderfulness awaits. It's heartbreaking and infuriating to see watch today's Disney destroy such a wonderful and pure creation.

Re #21 and Capt. Hook's being Republican:
Although Disney's Captain Hook is a cartoon character, when Dustin Hoffman# appeared in Hook, he reportedly patterned his character after William F. Buckley, Jr. because Buckley allegedly "frightened" him*. I haven't seen that movie. Can anyone here confirm that Hoffman sounded even slightly like my mentor?
*In Annie Hall (1977) Woody Allen used a rolled up National Review to deal with household pests.
# Forty years ago after Tootsie SCTV did a fantastic skit with Joe Flaherty and John Candy (Big Jim McBob and Billy Sol Hurok) in Farm Film Celebrity Blow Up. They blew up Dustin as Tootsie. (Of course they would.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrttPwepgp0
Don't be drinking anything when you get to the end of this skit. It'll come out, Believe me.

My first exposure to Peter Pan was the 1960 movie where Mary Martin played the role. I was about 7 years old. I thought the name was Peterpan. And the idea that a woman was playing the part of a man did not occur to me. Peterpan was female. I did not notice that the first name was Peter. Then came the Robin Williams version. And as a middle aged adult I became confused that Peterpan was being played by a man. Then the reviewers raved about what an incredible job Mary Martin had done playing the male role of Peter Pan. And how she had "pulled it off" so well. What?! I said. Peterpan is supposed to be a man?! What?! Oh. First name is Peter.
I was a child and I never thought for a second that the Mary Martin character was supposed to be male. Even as a 7 year old I could tell the difference between and male and a female and I knew Mary Martin was female. I wasn't a complete idiot. But now we are asking children to be complete idiots.
After they realize how we are trying to trick them into believing things that are obviously not true how are we going to convince them about global warming?

Yet, hiring child molesters to direct children's film [Victor Salva, Brian Peck] that's not a problem. It's much easier to obsess about fictional characters.

I'm surprised The Jungle Book characters have not yet been chopped. The replacement story is about a non-binary child-like adult who frets lives about living in a rainforest threatened by global warming.

Ursula, Tinkerbell, and Captain Hook are not real. They are pretend characters. Scary sea witches like Ursula look scary. Tinker Bell looks like a fairy. In real life there are mean people with disabilities like Capt. Hook. There are people like Tinker Bell who worry about how they look (like lots of people). That is real life. Will Disney just start using only grey stick figures for characters so nobody is offended? Nope, because stick figures would discriminate against fat people.
