Twitter’s board of directors gathered this week to sign what sounds like a suicide pact. It unanimously voted to swallow a “poison pill” to tank the value of the social media giant’s shares rather than allow billionaire Elon Musk to buy the company.
The move is one way to fend off hostile takeovers, but what is different in this case is the added source of the hostility: Twitter and many liberals are apoplectic over Musk’s call for free speech protections on the site.
Company boards have a fiduciary duty to do what is best for shareholders, which usually is measured in share values. Twitter has long done the opposite.
On April 8, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signed two bills into law that caught the attention of the Biden White House.The first bill she signed requires students to use bathrooms appropriate for their biological sex, and the second bill makes it a felony for doctors to perform “gender reassignment” therapy or surgery on minors. Chris Bakke then noted how little of the actual stock is owned by the company’s Board of Directors. Sans Twitter Founder Jack Dorsey, the combined ownership of the entire board equates to 77 shares of stock, worth around $3,200 bucks.
Austin, Texas—Some Gullett Elementary School students received a rather strange item Thursday from the Easter Bunny: unopened condoms. In a letter to parents, Gullett principal Tammy Thompson says that a parent had visited the campus in Northwest Austin Thursday afternoon during dismissal dressed as the Easter Bunny and handed out plastic eggs. Thompson says that some eggs contained candy, but some students were also given unopened condoms by the parent. Gullett parents were assured in the letter that this was not planned or sanctioned by the school. There are thousands of paper plates on the road that shouldn’t be. A loophole with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles has allowed fake car dealerships to print and sell temporary plates.
“Texas is the laughingstock of paper plates in the United States,” Vidor Police Capt. Edward Martin said.

KellyJeanne Pyne, who identifies as a female, was one of three competitors in the senior women’s freestyle event at the Texas Field Archery Association’s Indoor State Tournament on Feb. 26 near Fort Worth. She finished only one point ahead of the runner-up. “It felt good,” Pyne told KXAN. “It felt like I had achieved something, and then that was rapidly taken away.”

Parents of middle school kids have filed a federal lawsuit alleging that a Massachusetts school district violated their rights by keeping children's gender-nonconforming status a secret from them.

A brave Massachusetts teen girl was able to scare away an intruder who broke into her house while she was alone with her sister with a pair of steak knives. When historians study the disaster that was the Biden administration, they will find many factors that contributed to the historic level failure we are witnessing. Public health officials in Europe and the United States are investigating dozens of puzzling cases of severe hepatitis in young children.
Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver. The cause is often a virus, but the viruses that commonly cause the illness — hepatitis A, B, C, D and E — have been ruled out in the cases in question, leaving doctors searching for the culprit.
In several cases, the illness was so severe that the children needed a liver transplant. No deaths have been reported.
