The hits just keep coming for Caryn Elaine Johnson — AKA: Whoopi Goldberg — in the aftermath of her on-air claims about the Holocaust, during which an estimated six million Jews died at the hands of Adolf Hitler’s Nazis. But as Whoopi saw it, earlier this week, the near-extermination of Europe’s Jews was “not about race.” As the fallout from that hot mess continues, a previous related controversy has re-emerged.

Both Whoopi and Behar think sitting behind a desk in front of a camera makes them smarter than anyone else and what they say is right and if you disagree you are wrong. The supreme arrogance of Whoopi trying to educate the dimwits who view her show with misinformation - just amazing.

Lighten up folks! The recipe comically uses a very old stereotype of Jewish Princesses (as in - what to make for dinner - a reservation). Must our side act the foolishness of the cancel culture? It was a joke when printed and no more reflects anti-semitism on Whoopi's part than my telling Helen Keller jokes as a child suggests I am against the disabled.

OK......... once upon a time, not all that long ago, poking fun at Jewish American Princesses was common. And once upon a time, Whoopi was a standup comic. It's not a slam on Jewish women. It's a slam on pampered, entitled snobby brats. For example, if Meghan Markle were Jewish, she would be the very definition of Jewish American Princess.
Of all the reasons to pile on Whoopi, this ranks pretty low.

The left owns this - perpetually offended and looking for grievances everywhere has created this environment. Whoopi is a victim of her sides insanity

If a white person woman legally changed her name to Shaniqua Brown and preformed a skit about cooking fried chicken and collards while mussing over hair weaves, wigs and ghetto nails , the MSM and Hollywood would throw a fit. What I don't like is that the PC street is a one way street.

I am no Whoopi fan and I have only seen clips of The View, but I don't believe Goldberg is an anti-Semite just stupid.
We can not decry cancel culture and then practice it ourselves. In the "old days" before PC was a thing, we let people say stupid things, even hateful things and the marketplace took care of them. If I didn't like a person, I didn't watch or promote that person. If asked I'd say why.
I censored what my kids watched or read because that was my job, and I explained why I did to them if appropriate.
We didn't give complete strangers lectures on what should or shouldn't be be in their grocery carts, or have to listen to lectures from what we used to call "Nosy Parkers." MYOB was the way we handled things where no crimes were not actually were involved.
AND...we also had a decent sense of humor over the very "human" things we do. There are funny things about the ways we grew up. The influences of our old world nationalities on our American lives. No matter what "we were" (a very common question when we were in school, you know "I'm 1/2 French, 1/4 Italian, or I'm 100% Irish, etc.) we shared so much more. Whether we had Nana's, Nonna's or Babusia's everyone got the same advice. There's a little bit of truth in all of our national "traits" and those traits have contributed to our unique American culture, a culture that survived so much hardship and suffering especially during the past 250 years. Without a sense of humor we would have been doomed.
We need to return to that. Loosen up and let people say stupid things. Let people say things that are true. Let us all learn that laughing and the thought we have and the things we say are not all meant to offend. Go back and watch TV shows before 2000. They're funny. Avoid anything promoted as "A very special episode...." the precursor to the Social Justice lecture shows we have today.

I agree with posters #2 and #3. This was standard humor forty or fifty years ago - crude, but funny, and *everyone* was a target sooner or later.

Hitler was creating a master “race” and viewed Jews as a “race” that needed to be wiped out ! It was about race! Bye Whoopi’s! Won’t miss you at all!

The Left constantly tries to judge historic things by their ever-changing "values" of the day.
It doesn't wash for them to do it and it doesn't work for us to do it about what she wrote in 1993, either.
Whoopie might be ignorant tho.
After all, she thinks everybody now and in History is racist.....except Adolf Hitler!

She's a racist bigot. It's right there for anyone not actively trying to avoid it.
She's also stupid and hateful but that's not race related. She's just stupid and hateful.
Her J.A.P. "joke" was no more funny as the time than blackface which equally old photos of which have gotten white people cancelled instantly.
Her "joke" was not funny 30 years ago.
If you want to excuse this because you hate Jews, just say so. Be honest about it. If her hate "recipe" was about anyone else you'd be up in arms about it not saying, "oh it's ok because making fun of Jews is just something we've always done".

At the time this "recipe" was penned even Jewish comics were telling Jewish American Princess jokes. There were also jokes about Micks, Spics, Chinks, Beaners, Dagos, Limmies, Frogs, Krauts and Blondes. Everyone got a turn, it was part of the culture of the melting pot. It allowed people their "old" heritage, but not at the expense of being an American. It all became undone when the Left began to lecture us about how hurtful Polish jokes were, then soon all the ethnic humor was forbidden. This transformation of the American culture has been under way for 60 years.
One of the leaders of that assault has been Caryn Elaine Johnson, who appropriated a Jewish name to add to her minority status along with an unusual first name. Whoopie Goldberg was much more successful than Caryn Johnson would have ever been. While I detest our current Cancel Culture, Ms. Johnson has been one of its most ardent admirers and committed conspirator. What goes around, comes around. I hope she gets in spades. (Pun intended.)

Somewhere very recently I saw the picture of her white boyfriend (forgot his name) who put on a black face to entertain her for her birthday. Should remember, but I really don't/didn't care. She was heartily laughing. Did you lose your ability to have fun, Whoop, or were you just kidding then?

Hey Caryn remember what happened to Fuzzy Zoeller when it comes to "fried chicken". It's time for you to be forced out of the kitchen Caryn. If you are not summarily fired for your current and past anti-Semetic beliefs, Disney should be investigated for harboring a full blown bigot.

How touchie people are today. She, taking the stage name Goldberg is no more offensive than Jewish actors like Tony Curtis taking English names. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Number 14, that would be Ted “Sam Malone” Danson, who showed up at a Friar’s Club Roast in black-face with his then-girlfriend, Whoopi Goldberg, formerly Caryn Johnson. (She also dated the always eloquent Frank Langella. Go figure.)
But, what can you really expect from Ms. Goldberg/Johnson? This is the same “genius” who suggested that “Dr.” Jill Biden should be appointed US Surgeon General. The only problem with that idea is that “Dr.” Biden has her PhD in education and not medicine.
Maybe Ms. Goldberg/Johnson should team up with the unfailingly gracious Bette Midler, who very “tactfully” described the West Virginia voters who voted for Senator Joe Manchin as “poor, illiterate and strung-out”?

Regardless of any Semitic/Anti-Semitic qualities of Goldberg's cookbook, she herself has run her career through the toaster.

Hey folks, don’t cut whoopie any slack, she is the first one to go after anyone for same offense no matter how long ago or how non offensive it was as long as they are white and conservative. There’s no way at her age she did she NOT know the holocaust was based on race, and based on her big mouth on the show, she seems to be an expert on every subject. I think she even took the stage name Goldberg to belittle the Jewish race while getting herself noticed.

Funny, first time I saw the term I thought it referred to the Japanese slur, in the hilariously politically incorrect book "Truly Tasteless Jokes." A reading of the jokes therein set me straight.

As an expert on the matter - - I can tell you that Caryn Johnson is NOT - - I repeat - - is NOT a Jew-hater. I found nothing hateful in her comments - - or in this cookbook recipe. On the other hand - - she IS a loudmouth moron - - but that's not a crime.
