You are the company you keep — and the sleaze you defend. What a comeuppance for Jeff Zucker, who stood by former star anchor and one-time BFF Chris Cuomo through multiple scandals.
There was no breach of journalistic ethics Chris Cuomo couldn’t commit, it seemed, without Zucker making excuses and exemptions for that self-important mediocrity. Run around the Hamptons as Chris did, maskless and COVID-positive, yet lecture America every night on best practices? Sure.

A major winter storm with millions of Americans in its path brought a mix of rain, freezing rain and snow to the central U.S. on Wednesday as airlines canceled thousands of flights, officials urged residents to stay off roads and schools closed campuses. The blast of frigid weather, which began arriving Tuesday night, put a long stretch of states from New Mexico and Colorado to Maine under winter storm warnings and watches. On Wednesday morning, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan saw freezing rain, sleet and snow.

CNN is now facing calls to fire its chief media correspondent Brian Stelter for not exposing the ongoing romantic relationship between Jeff Zucker and senior executive Allison Gollust. Stelter, 36, the network’s top media reporter and host of its “Reliable Sources” Sunday show, either dropped the ball by not exposing Zucker and Gollust or showed a stunning lack of awareness by being not privy to their romance, a CNN insider fumed to the Daily Mail.

With signs of Russian aggression towards Ukraine becoming more pronounced, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken made the rounds on the Sunday shows. While the secretary did speak to there being a "swift response" against Russia if Vladimir Putin took action, he also emphasized "diplomacy and dialogue." On NBC's "Meet the Press," Blinken would not comment on the intelligence reports that came out of Britain on Saturday, with regards to Russia installing a pro-Russian leader in Ukraine.

Democrat President Joe Biden was widely slammed online on Sunday evening amid numerous reports that indicated that the situation in Ukraine is rapidly deteriorating amid an increasingly likely invasion by Russian forces. New reports indicate that the administration has ordered the families of all American personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine to immediately leave the country, has warned U.S. citizens in the country that it will be unable to evacuate them, and is considering sending U.S. military forces to Eastern Europe.

Taiwan intercepted dozens of military aircraft from communist China on Sunday as Democrat President Joe Biden’s administration is seemingly being tested simultaneously by authoritarian regimes around the world, who many experts say see weakness in Biden. “The latest Chinese mission included 34 fighters plus four electronic warfare aircraft and a single bomber,” Reuters reported. “Taiwan sent combat aircraft to warn away the Chinese aircraft, while missile systems were deployed to monitor them.”

COVID-19 was less lethal across nearly every age group in its first full year than previously thought, according to an updated review of global research from Stanford University's Meta-Research Innovation Center (METRIC). Between summer and Christmas 2021, METRIC's estimates of deaths from infection fell by half in multiple age groups, including young people, and less sharply in others. The international estimates, which have not been peer-reviewed, are not substantially different from the CDC's own "best estimate" of COVID mortality in the U.S., last updated in March.

Ronnie Spector, the powerhouse vocalist and teenage ingenue behind the ’60s rock band the Ronettes, died on Wednesday at 78. “Our beloved earth angel, Ronnie, peacefully left this world today,” her family wrote in a statement, adding that the star lost “a brief battle with cancer.” “She was with family and in the arms of her husband, Jonathan.”
“Ronnie lived her life with a twinkle in her eye, a spunky attitude, a wicked sense of humor and a smile on her face. She was filled with love and gratitude,” they continued.

Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.) has added his name to the already-expansive list of Democrats who have announced that they will be retiring ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. Most of these retirements have thus far come from the House, where Republicans are expected to put on a real challenge to Democrats who are looking to keep their majority. In the Senate, where Democrats have a more favorable election map, there has only been one retirement, that of Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), president pro tempore of the Senate.

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy is considering banning lawmakers from trading individual stocks if his party wins control of the chamber in the November midterms and he becomes speaker, a person familiar with the matter said. The plan could be put into effect in the package of House rules voted on at the beginning of the next Congress. Government officials’ personal financial dealings are receiving fresh scrutiny following Federal Reserve Vice Chair Richard Clarida’s announcement Monday that he will resign before his term expires amid revelations about his own stock trading on the eve of a major central bank announcement.CORRECTIONS*
