Jeff Zucker and CNN: The fish rots from
the head

You are the company you keep — and the sleaze you defend. What a comeuppance for Jeff Zucker, who stood by former star anchor and one-time BFF Chris Cuomo through multiple scandals. There was no breach of journalistic ethics Chris Cuomo couldn’t commit, it seemed, without Zucker making excuses and exemptions for that self-important mediocrity. Run around the Hamptons as Chris did, maskless and COVID-positive, yet lecture America every night on best practices? Sure.

Comments:

It's not all bad news for Jeff. The loyal Cuomo brothers - - have invited him to go fishing for lake trout.

Cnn the sexual predator network. Now they’re venturing into pedophilia too. I guess that gives their viewers a certain frisson. It’s going to take several months to bury all this and get back to predation as usual.

It may be wrong, but I just can't avoid an overwhelming feeling of schadenfreude, pleasure derived from the misfortune of others, from the fall of these self-important, hypocritical jerks. I hope there are more to come. The downside is they are still wealthy, can live a comfortable life, will suffer few material consequences, and will feel no shame. They are protected. Just yesterday it was announced that the last sexual harassment case against Andrew Cuomo has been dropped by the county District Attorney. Meanwhile, the newly elected Manhattan District Attorney is still scouring the records of President Trump and his family trying to find something, anything to pin on the President to prevent him from running again.

These people - all of them, in left-wing news, in the government, in the CDC and the FDA, in the White House - are scum. All of them. It’s time to take out the trash.

One 'Tater-Head Twin' (Zucker) down, one (Stelter) to go. I have some hope that just maybe the new management at the Commie News Network will clean the place up and turn it around. But..... I'm not holding my breath.

Yes, the stench of rotting fishes is pervasive around there. Keep up the sniffing until it’s all found. There’s a way to go I expect.

New reports indicate that the administration has ordered the families of all American personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine to immediately leave the country, has warned U.S. citizens in the country that it will be unable to evacuate them, and is considering sending U.S. military forces to Eastern Europe.

Taiwan intercepted dozens of military aircraft from communist China on Sunday as Democrat President Joe Biden’s administration is seemingly being tested simultaneously by authoritarian regimes around the world, who many experts say see weakness in Biden. “The latest Chinese mission included 34 fighters plus four electronic warfare aircraft and a single bomber,” Reuters reported. “Taiwan sent combat aircraft to warn away the Chinese aircraft, while missile systems were deployed to monitor them.”

COVID-19 was less lethal across nearly every age group in its first full year than previously thought, according to an updated review of global research from Stanford University's Meta-Research Innovation Center (METRIC). Between summer and Christmas 2021, METRIC's estimates of deaths from infection fell by half in multiple age groups, including young people, and less sharply in others. The international estimates, which have not been peer-reviewed, are not substantially different from the CDC's own "best estimate" of COVID mortality in the U.S., last updated in March.

Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.) has added his name to the already-expansive list of Democrats who have announced that they will be retiring ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. Most of these retirements have thus far come from the House, where Republicans are expected to put on a real challenge to Democrats who are looking to keep their majority. In the Senate, where Democrats have a more favorable election map, there has only been one retirement, that of Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), president pro tempore of the Senate.

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy is considering banning lawmakers from trading individual stocks if his party wins control of the chamber in the November midterms and he becomes speaker, a person familiar with the matter said. The plan could be put into effect in the package of House rules voted on at the beginning of the next Congress. Government officials’ personal financial dealings are receiving fresh scrutiny following Federal Reserve Vice Chair Richard Clarida’s announcement Monday that he will resign before his term expires amid revelations about his own stock trading on the eve of a major central bank announcement.CORRECTIONS*

A new super-mutant HIV strain that makes infected individuals ill twice as fast as current versions of the virus has been detected in the Netherlands. The new mutant—called the VB variant—has infected at least 109 people, according to a study by Oxford University. The strain damages the immune system and weakens a person's ability to fight everyday infections and disease faster than previous versions of the virus. It means those who catch this strain could develop AIDS more quickly. The VB variant also has a viral load between 3.5 and 5.5 times higher than the current strain, meaning infected people are more likely to transmit the virus

Is the dam finally breaking on maintaining the fantasy that trans women do not have an inherent advantage over biological females in competitive sports? Sixteen members of the University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team sent a letter to the school and to the Ivy League, asking them not to take legal action that would challenge the new NCAA rules for transgender athletes to compete. The new rules would make it very difficult for their trans teammate, Lia Thomas, to compete as a female. The lawmakers introduced the bill this week that would see cameras put in almost every K-12 classroom, with the exception of physical education and special needs classes. Teachers who fail to keep the camera recording, or obstruct its view, could be fined up to 5 percent of their weekly salary each time they are caught doing it, according to the bill.(Snip)Florida recently introduced a similar bill to have cameras and microphones installed in public school classrooms.
