A long-overdue legislative enactment and signing provides an occasion for two equally long overdue observations on an I&I editorial regarding “pesky climate models.” Citing a study on pre-carbon dioxide concentration Arctic Ocean warming, your friendly neighborhood editorialists concluded, “(W)e’re confident that eventually the (climate alarmists’) story will collapse.” Observation No. 1 is that the case for renewables, climate alarmists’ chosen solution, is also folding like a house of cards in a Richter 9.5 earthquake. Let's let our airy ferry hippies run our energy policy. yeah that'll work. The electrification of transportation will require massive new sources of electrical energy ...... .are they being built? no ! Modern nuclear reactors are the obvious way to go however they will continue to be overlooked.

Up until two years ago we lived in the Mojave Desert. We watched as vast areas of land were plowed and solar panels and wind turbines installed. We scoffed at the irony of the politicians and environmentalists enabling the destruction of desert habitat. A decade before, environmentalists had enlisted Feinstein, Arnold and others to get behind a movement to establish a desert preservation program because they were afraid off-roaders would destroy the precious and fragile desert ecosystem. Well, I guess they succeeded. Off-roaders can't ride through the solar fields!

So what? It should be apparent by now that the Democrat/Progressive/Marxists never allow facts or logic to get on the way of the agenda and their lust for power.

Shellenberger's book, "Apocalypse Never", really makes the case that the best and safest source that is carbon free is nuclear. The fossil fuel lobby has been promoting solar and wind because they knew from the laws of thermodynamics that they would fail as competition. They also funded the nuclear scare mongering and regulations to make nuclear too expense to compete with fossil fuels. Their plan is working perfectly at least until someone starts getting back to the basic science.

Remember the news story about the guy who spent a fortune on a Tesla and then blew it up because it would cost him ANOTHER fortune to replace the worn-out batteries?? How many of us have had to replace cell phones when the battery would no longer hold a charge? Lithium for the batteries is a finite source, so what happens with it is gone? We have 300-400 years worth of oil, natural gas, and coal..... all these smart people who look down at us don't seem to realize that when we run out of lithium WE ARE STUCK and the economy will fail. This is a great technology but it is "not ready for prime time" and is not the ONLY solution out there.... The wind blows, true. What happens when it doesn't blow and there is no power generated? There is no way to STORE the generated power... It the wind blows too hard, things get shut down to prevent overheating and damage.

I&I/TIPP Poll: Media Trust Took A Serious

Forr the big media that dominate America’s cultural and political life, 2021 was a dismal year when it comes to public trust. The prospects for 2022 are little better, as both the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, midterm elections and a growing problem with inflation loom. Year-end data from the I&I/TIPP Poll show little public optimism that the media will do a better job this year. The data for the I&I/TIPP Poll Media Indexes stem from a survey of 1,301 adults, conducted online from Dec. 1-4 by TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence, I&I’s polling partner. The poll’s margin of error is +/-2.8 percentage points.

After more than 11 months in office, with inflation skyrocketing and the country’s superpower status plummeting, Americans can’t stand either President Joe Biden or his vice-presidential-beneficiary of-affirmative-action, Kamala Harris. Every time Harris tries to help herself, she hurts herself. As border czar who for three months avoided visiting the Mexican border, Harris relented only after plans were made known of former President Donald Trump and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott traveling to the frontier – and then she briefly visited only a border patrol station about nine miles from the actual border, far removed from where masses of illegal migrants have been crossing.

President Joe Biden, the fellow who promised to end the coronavirus pandemic if we’d just elect him to the nation’s highest office, has officially given up the battle he swore he’d win. It’s now someone else’s problem. Candidate Biden swore before the entire country just days before the 2020 election that “I’m going to shut down the virus.” But not only has he not stopped its spread, under current trends it will have within a month – the coming winter of death – killed more on his watch than it did while Donald Trump was president. Nearly 385,000 have died from

When Sen. Joe Manchin said he couldn’t vote for “Build Back Better,” it might have seemed like President Joe Biden’s multi-trillion spending spree had finally met its demise. If you think so, remember Obamacare. Bad ideas never die in Washington, particularly when it comes to expanding the size, scope, or intrusiveness of the federal government. And sure enough, once the dust cleared on Manchin’s announcement, rather than admit the massive Build Back Better plan was a terrible idea that would create huge new entitlements, add trillions to the national debt, and that most people believe it will do them more harm than good, Democrats immediately

To hear the media tell it, Americans are bitterly and broadly divided over COVID-19 and the policies enacted to mitigate its spread and save lives. But while there remain significant differences among political affiliations, the degree of agreement among Americans on COVID-19 policies is noteworthy, new data from the I&I/TIPP Poll show. Media coverage of COVID-19 this year has often focused on the degree to which the “right” and “conservatives” have refused to heed government imposed mandates and rules to deal with the fast-spreading virus. Coverage, as numerous studies and reports have shown, has been highly politicized. To find out if this is true, the December I&I TIPP Poll asked

Last week the White House warned the unvaccinated that “you’re looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families.” President Joe Biden followed up in today’s news conference with a similar though less-shrill message, even adding that Americans could “safely celebrate the holidays with” family and friends only if vaccinated. Apparently, the administration has been consulting with the ghost of Jack Kevorkian. Just in time for Christmas, the ghoulish Biden executive branch has cranked up a climate of fear that in the blue regions has been overheating for months.

When Joe Biden was running for president from the basement of his Delaware home, he issued what he described as a seven-point plan “to beat COVID-19.” More than a year later, Biden announced his latest plan, which basically repeats everything he promised he’d do when running for president. The big news announced on Tuesday was that the administration would buy and distribute half a billion at-home tests to anyone who asks because, he said, testing is key to getting COVID under control. But Biden promised the same thing last year. In fact, the very first item on his seven-point plan was to “fix Trump’s testing-and-tracing fiasco

It’s Christmas week and most Americans are focused on family, travel, presents, and, hopefully, the true meaning of the holiday. Meanwhile, our cognitively challenged president will spend much of the this week unaware of what day it is while the world might be descending into the opening shots of the next world war. Putin, Russia’s “president,” has had Ukraine on his brain for some time. The West, with good reason, fears he will invade the former Soviet satellite, which wants to be a part of

A particular line from our Thursday editorial reminded us of something we’ve been seeing for some time now: claims by the media that Republicans in general and Donald Trump in specific are authoritarians. It’s a truly malignant form of psychological projection. The comment referenced in our observation that dissent is no longer the highest form of patriotism that struck us is from Northeastern University journalism professor and public radio panelist Dan Kennedy. He said, with zero supporting evidence, that the Republican Party “has embraced authoritarianism and voter suppression.”  CORRECTION*

Remember how, when Donald Trump was president, writing bogus attack pieces and talking endlessly about how he stole the 2016 election were all good for the country. Because, you know, dissent is the highest form of patriotism. Now, reporting undisputed facts that happen to be unflattering to the current president poses a grave threat to the survival of the nation. That’s what journalists are saying. With the turn of the calendar to 2022, Republicans are not only looking to the 2022 midterm elections but to the prospect of Donald Trump running in 2024. Trump is hugely popular with the party’s base and that popularity freezes the plans of other possible candidates for the 2024 nomination. Trump’s hold on that nomination is brittle, however, because of his age. On election day in 2024 Donald Trump will be 78 years old. That is one year older than Ronald Reagan’s age when he left office in 1988.Looking at the 2024 contest from the other side of the race, there is no reason to expect that Joe Biden
