Schumer: Senate to vote on filibuster
change on voting bill

WASHINGTON — Days before the anniversary of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced the Senate will vote on filibuster rules changes to advance stalled voting legislation that Democrats say is needed to protect democracy. In a letter Monday to colleagues, Schumer, D-N.Y., said the Senate “must evolve” and will “debate and consider” the rules changes by Jan. 17, on or before Martin Luther King Jr. Day, as the Democrats seek to overcome Republican opposition to their elections law package. “Let me be clear: January 6th was a symptom of a broader illness — an effort to delegitimize our election process,”

Comments:

This an odd stand to take -- the Constitution only permits the States to chose Electors for the president:
Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress:

Yeah, I don't get it, and I usually get it. I often don't like it, but I understand the tactics. Unless we've been seriously misled, this won't pass the Senate. It doesn't look like the bill will pass the Senate even with a simple majority vote. If it does, it fails with The People when they try to convince the masses that not allowing States to require IDs will SAVE DEMOCRACY. Polls show people are quite THAT stupid. The Courts will swat this down so fast it won't have time for the ink to dry. So... why? Red meat to their lunatic fringe won't win any elections. Wile E. Coyote would know better. I don't get it, and that worries me.

No, Schmuck Choomer: November 3rd & 4th were a successful attempt to destroy our election process. A few people on January 6th just attempted to show how your people subverted it, along with mostly your FBI / Antifa operatives there to make a False Flag event out of it.

Why is it democrats don't like to play by the rules that are given and provided for in the Constitution? I would presume they realize their version for the United States of America is vastly different than the one most people believe in, including those millions of immigrants who fled countries to be here. GOP needs a quick and simple retort to the democrat election changes. And, the last person to change the filibuster rules just died, and democrat regretted it ever since. While some may not like McConnell much, he knows the Senate rules, and can count heads.

The only “voting bills” which the Democrats are interested in are those which will give them a permanent advantage in any election. In case you haven’t noticed, “fixed” elections are what they want, with opposing political opinion censored. Add that to “equity” and we can rename the Democrats as what they have become: Communists.

They were meeting, and they did talk (unlike the other pair, this time grandchildren were not mentioned/reported) Manchin: like a woman, he changes his mind a lot? Biden begged? Let me get this straight. Chuck Schumer and his Democrat minions want to change the rules that have been fine for over 200 years in order to impose new Democrat approved "rules" for elections nationwide. They want to nationalize all elections, discarding the Constitution, which very clearly gives the power to make election rules and run elections to the states. The Senate needs to stay out of the election business.

Manchin and Sinema are both hard no on the nuclear option of changing the cloture rule. Sinema in particular has said she does not support carve outs at all of the existing rule, often citing that the one Reid put together allowed China Mitch to run through hundreds of judges for Trump. I see this as another attempt to smear both of them for failing to fall in line with Chuckie's progressive masters. Chuckie might as well turn over the Leader position to Bernie.

The communists in control don’t recognize the US Constitution at all. It may be risky but we need to hold a constitutional convention and fix the wording to prevent these opportunities from ever happening again. In person voting, vote on one day, votes tabulated by midnight on voting day etc. The exceptions for in person would be limited to military and absentee ballots sent only after passing multiple levels of identification. Otherwise the Democrats shenanigans will never end!

Anyone counting on the courts to stop this insanity is a massive fool. Far too many judges out there who were appointed by Clinton, Ovomit, and biden, who will be happy to uphold it. And there is no guarantee that the SCOTUS will even determine that it is unconstitutional (given their track record). But even if they do, it will take years to reach them, and several elections will already have been stolen in the meantime. Schumer and the Democrats refuse to understand that we are not a democracy, we are a representative government with primacy to the States for those things not specifically given to the federal government in the Constitution. The goal of the Democrats is to change the laws, ignore the Constitution and make changes to permanently put them in power -- with the ultimate goal that they will dictate to we the people how we are to live our lives -- from security to education, to religion, to work, to health, to freedoms etc.

BERLIN — Germany on Friday is shutting down half of the six nuclear plants it still has in operation, a year before the country draws the final curtain on its decades-long use of atomic power. The decision to phase out nuclear power and shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy was first taken by the center-left government of Gerhard Schroeder in 2002. His successor, Angela Merkel, reversed her decision to extend the lifetime of Germany’s nuclear plants in the wake of the 2011 Fukushima disaster in Japan and set 2022 as the final deadline for shutting them down.

Fully vaccinated people infected with the omicron variant of the novel coronavirus could end up with super immunity to the coronavirus, according to new research from Oregon Health & Science University. The research — published online in the Journal of the American Medical Association — found that breakthrough infections create “a robust immune response against the delta variant.” Researchers said the findings indicate that “the immune response is likely to be highly effective against other variants as the SARS-CoV-2 virus continues to mutate.”
