A New Contract with America

There is no better time for the GOP to craft a new Contract with America to
drive the campaigns for both the 2022 midterms and 2024 Presidential
election year. That's right, it should focus their campaign strategy for the
next three years. Why? Even if there is an overwhelming GOP landslide next
November, the chances of having a big enough swing to be able overcome a
Biden veto is unlikely. No matter what Republican candidates promise; it
will be hard to meet expectations until we have a president in office who
will support their agenda.
Even with that limitation, it is vital to proceed and clarify what we stand
for. It isn't just the candidates conservatives need to elect;

With appreciation for the poster's views...
If those signing Mr. Newt's plan had integrity, many still in Congress would have been gone long ago.
You can bet if a current RiNO signs it, it will be a "Contract" ON grassroots republicans.

The GOP can craft my ____! We don’t need crafting. We need principled leaders who will follow the Constitution!

What you propose is not 'smaller government' in any form and you should know that, Mr Paulson.
Smaller government is...smaller. Hint in the title. Not the same size as yesterday or last week. Forget 'fraud, waste and abuse' (every swamper's fatuous line), what about simple redundancy? From duties to positions to departments to agencies. Too many people doing the exact same things and doing them poorly, slowly or not at all.
And then there are the constitutional questions. Is the creation of the FBI even permitted vis-a-vis enumerated powers? Why are federal agencies constantly seeking and permitted to bigfoot state agencies?
Extending the status quo for as long as possible is not a contract.

What we really need are Republican candidates who will support their Republican president!

We need to define our terms and only vote for those who agree to them and primary out any who break their promise to do so and put their child's bunny in a pot on the stove.

I hope they can do it on an extremely slim budget because my $.02 will not make it to their collection plates. I don't care what they promise for the next two years, their broken promises since 2016 have almost killed us. If not for GOP wussies, the slogan on those MAGA hats would still be our banner today and Donald Trump would still be in the White House. Just as it is done in Marine Boot Camp, GOP wannabes have to be broken down to their shoes before they become real men and women. I don't see too much of that out there.

Anyone else believe the Republicans will come up with a meaningful strategy that would make them a real alternative to the Democrats? I don't. Many of them already have a strategy. I just happens to be the same as the Democrat's

How about if R members of Congress actually did what they said they would do while out campaigning? Eliminate all federal programs not mentioned in the Constitution would be a great start.

I still remember their campaign pledge to remove obamacare root and branch. And now we advanced to more than just nationalized health insurance they have nationalized health care to great destruction of health care in the u.s. Some hell holes now have far better performance against a now common virus and we have a poison clot shot.

Add to the five listed above:
Secure all elections from school boards on up. One person, one vote, ID'd dye-dipped thumbs on Election Day. No mail in voting to be tampered with by postal workers or activists ( but I repeat myself ) No 'ranked' voting that favors libs 2:1.
Term limits for ALL government employees.
Federal budget tied by constitutional amendment to never more than 10% previous years' GDP.
Universal conscription all citizens at age 18 for two years- either as warriors or hospital personnel or janitors, all housed in barracks
Barracks for drifter/party animals/bums/homeless in fenced industrial locations far from city centers, free water, rice, beans and sterno. Porta potties. Padded romper rooms in jails when they lose it.
Termination of all racist programs giving federal preference to 'favored' minorities.
Just for starters.

And I quote the last Republican Speaker of the House from Trump's first year: "Don't worry, there is plenty of time left to implement the President's ideas. .. . ."
The problem the Repulican party has is, nobody believes them about anything.

What does anyone expect a GOP-majority Congress to repeal...they couldn't repeal Obamacare in the past? Honestly, where the rubber meets the profiteering road the GOPe is partners in the UNIPARTY. Seriously, what do folks expect? Full partners in $10 TRILLION in stimulus and other "essential" spending, with PDT signing the bills into law. Now giving the folks a show wrangling over a few billion here and there. I'll vote GOP only expecting the fall into the abyss to slow a bit...

Win back congress, both houses. Recruit Trump for speaker, he does not have to be elected to congress to be named speaker, BTW. Impeach and remove quid pro joe and the ho. Trump automatically becomes prez, to finish out the term until 2024 and THEN he can run again.

Not happening. 1. Kevin McCarthy is no Newt Gingrich. 2. Washington D.C. Republicans are not on the same page with their constituents; they prefer to hide the difference than pledge to be true to their constituents. 3. Getting all the various factions of Republicans to agree on anything is more difficult than getting lapdog, pork barrel democrats to agree.

I agree. It's beyond time to remind Congress and the people of this country exactly who is the employee (Congress) and who is the boss (the American citizens)!! It is also time to remind members of BOTH houses that, like ANY employee who refuses to the job they were hired to do, they can and will be summarily dismissed and replaced!!
