FBI data is expected to show murders in the U.S. increased by nearly 30% in 2020—the highest annual spike in at least 60 years, according to news reports. The agency’s Uniform Crime Report is set to be released Monday, but preliminary data temporarily uploaded to the FBI website showed murders last year went up nearly 29% compared to 2019, The New York Times reported on Wednesday. If the data remains unchanged, it will reportedly be the largest single-year increase since the 12.7% change in 1968. Around 21,500 murders were reportedly tallied last year, which is approximately 5,000 more than in 2019—but the overall murder rate is still

See also, "Report: Violent Crime Rate in 2018 Lowest Since 1971." What changed from 2018 to today? Hmm.

What they don’t tell you is that the vast majority of those murders were perpetrated by Black folks killing other Black folks in Black “communities” with no “White Supremacists” in sight!

A key part of this article doesn't make sense. It says the murder rate went up by over 29%, OK, I get that. And unfortunately I'm not surprised. But then it says, "If the data remains unchanged, it will reportedly be the largest single-year increase since the 12.7% change in 1968." What am I missing? Last I checked, 29% was greater than 12.7%. By a lot. No doubt violent crime is up, and Biden and his hacks are to blame, but the WT needs to get this data right.

#3, I think that's just statistical housekeeping: they can't deliver a final 2021 number until the end of this year, so they have to include a disclaimer. However, at this point three-quarters of the way through, even if all murders were to cease for the rest of the year (how likely is that?), it would be impossible for things to drop below that 12.7% change. The train has left the station.

Thank the Dems and their paid street thugs, antifa and BLM, and their whole "defund the police" insanity.
Be armed, be safe....at least potentially, depending on alertness, training, skill and sometimes a bit of luck, too.

Would be higher if they took into account Gov. Cuomo's nursing home murder spree in New York.

Chicago has already surpassed last year's death tally of 606. And there's more than 3 months to go! Will Mayor Lightbrains get a trophy for most violent city?

With the lawless-oriented Biden Administration, the irresponsible dem Congress and numerous supportive dem/socialist pols dictating policies in cities and States, the crime rate continues to increase. - There is a demonstrable correlation! Crooks do not respect the personal property nor the lives of others! This Administration prefers lawlessness and they care less about the tragic results!

As long as the elites (our betters) can get gov't funded police protection or can afford private security, it's not a problem, at least for them.

Saw a local report about rising crime rates, they even said they had no idea why. Of course we know last year Democrats let thousands of criminals out of prison years early. Before last year crime rates were dropping but Democrats clearly hated the fact that prison populations were rising at the same time.

Defund the Police
Releasing thousands of repeat felons from prison due to the Ongoing Global Pandemic™
All major urban centers completely run by Dems for decades
And if you haven't figured it out yet, in Democratland, high murder rates are a feature, not a bug.

US policy is to not punish crime in the name of "equity" so that one day we'll have Safe And Sane Gun Control. Sure, people die, but that's a small price to pay for no mean tweets.
