The Taliban hanged the dead body of a man in the western Afghan city of Herat, a witness said Saturday. Shocking images show a large crowd gathered in Herat’s main square looking up at a lifeless body—white clothes covered in blood—hanging from a crane. Many onlookers are seen looking at the gruesome image covering their eyes from the bright sun, while others have their cellphones out, taking photos or videos.(Snip)Maulwai Shair Ahmad Emar, Herat’s deputy governor, said that the four alleged kidnappers were tracked down by Taliban fighters, and they were killed after an exchange of gunfire, the BBC reported. “We hanged their dead bodies

September was officially proclaimed African Heritage Month with an outdoor ceremony on Friday in Prince George’s County, Maryland. County Executive Angela Alsobrooks established the African Diaspora Advisory Board about two years ago. Sylvia Dasi, the board’s liaison for the county, said the day was important for the African community in the area. “Let’s celebrate the African immigrant, the African representation, the African identity, the African diversity,” Dasi said. The event marked the board’s first annual African Heritage Month celebration as a crowd gathered to hear speakers and stand up and dance outside of the county administration building. Alsobrooks honored the theme of the month: “The African Immigrant.”

The chairman of a COVID-19 origins task force affiliated with the Lancet scientific journals has disbanded the commission over its ties to controversial researcher Peter Daszak and his EcoHealth Alliance. Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs told the Wall Street Journal on Saturday that he was concerned with the links to Daszak, who led the task force until recusing himself from that role in June. Daszak, who lives in New York, devoted his career to championing so-called 'gain of function' research to engineer coronavirus to be more deadly to humans, arguing that it was the best chance to detect and prevent a global pandemic. More than 400 D.C. Fire and EMS employees are seeking a religious exemption for COVID-19 vaccines, according to reports. Out of the more than 2,100 department workers, 419 of them are filing for the exemption with the city, NBC4 Washington reported. “They’re requests at this point,” Fire Chief John Donnelly told the news outlet. “They will be ruled on by the Department of Health. We don’t rule on them. There’s a process for that.” “When the ruling is made, they’ll have a series of choices,” Mr. Donnelly said. “They’ll either have to come into compliance or they will not have a medical license anymore,

More like “Ok Stupid.” A fed-up New Yorker tore down lurid subway advertisements for the dating app OK Cupid. “All of this is gross. For kids to be looking at this, is that OK??” she said in viral videos posted to Twitter on Wednesday. The woman walked up and down the D train car, ripping the ads down—while ranting about COVID-19 and communism—as silent, masked straphangers looked on.(Snip)“Nicely done,” another woman told her. “That’s what bravery looks like. Say ‘No’ to propaganda.” The provocative ads target “non-monogamists,” monogamists, “pansexuals,” potheads, “bears,” fetishists, and just about every other group. One aimed at “submissives” features

Beto O'Rourke has slammed Joe Biden for his handling of the migrant crisis, comparing the current President to Donald Trump in his decision to deport thousands of Haitian asylum seekers from the southern border. O'Rourke—who once described Biden as 'kind, caring, and the antithesis of Trump'—made the comparison in a scathing op-ed published in El Paso Matters on Friday, claiming the Commander-in-chief's new border policies were 'antithetical to our values and our common humanity'.(Snip)'We need to hold accountable those who would treat immigrants as less than human—whether they were separated from their families and placed in cages under Trump

The Garment District is Gotham’s newest shooting gallery, a disturbing heroin hotspot of addicts booting up in broad daylight.
The outgoing de Blasio administration appears unwilling or unable to address the crisis, as the quality-of-life disaster unfolds just steps from high-profile Midtown landmarks such as Macy’s, Madison Square Garden and the sparkling new Moynihan Train Hall. The block bordered by 35th and 36th streets, and Seventh and Eighth Avenues, is “littered with used needles, broken glass crack pipes, trash, urine, and feces” as junkies shoot up and dealers brazenly sell drugs, lamented one neighbor on social media. “I’ve personally seen dozens of deals go down.

President Biden’s wavering $3.5 trillion social welfare bill took another hit when Rep. Alma Adams said she’s a no vote unless more money goes to historically Black colleges and universities.
Ms. Adams, a North Carolina Democrat and top advocate for HBCUs, said Mr. Biden is shortchanging the Black schools in the massive spending bill.(Snip)Mr. Biden promised during the campaign to give HBCUs $57 billion to upgrade campuses and improve research facilities. The Government Accounting Office found in 2018 that 46% of the buildings at HBCUs needed repair or replacement. However, the Black colleges are slated to get just $2 billion in the bill, a fraction of what

The same Science says the entirely new coronavirus shots, which did not exist 2 years ago and which are being forced on people under threat of loss of employment, are wonderful for pregnant women and babies.
