A coalition of 164 Catholic groups sent a letter to President Biden on Thursday telling him his border policies violate the tenets of his own faith and urged him to embrace Pope Francis’ teachings.
The groups blasted the pandemic border expulsion authority, known as Title 42, which the government says gives it the power to immediately turn back illegal immigrants without giving them the chance to make claims for protection in the U.S.(Snip)The letter comes just ahead of the Catholic Church’s World Day for Migrants and Refugees, which is Sunday. The pope has labeled this year’s celebration “Towards an Ever Wider We.”

Nonsense. Most illegal alien criminals have come from ANOTHER Nation, not directly from their home Nation. That means, by LAW, that is where they must remain. They did not need protection. The Catholic groups need a lesson in the law.

Suicide goes against the church's teachings. Open borders is national suicide.

Fine, then let Pope Francis use some of the massive wealth of the Catholic Church to resettle them closer to their true homes.

The Catholic Church has been contributing to the destruction of this country for many years. Catholic Charities are the worst and yes they do get heavily funded.
As a Catholic, I agree with Poster #5. The Catholic Church is not the same as Catholicism sadly.

We sorely need an American Joan of Arc these days, not only to defend the border with all the grace and skill of the “whip”-wielding mounted Border Patrol agents at Del Rio, but to show up our girly-men, cocktail-party-loving, money-laundering bishops for what they are — Pharisees with pretty pink hats.

The current socialist Pope’s teachings regarding illegal aliens are easy to understand, allow all illegal aliens who show up unconditionally into your country in unlimited numbers, which common sense will tell you would destroy the country, thus making your citizens and illegal aliens equal in the eyes of the Pope. The problem with that is that the Pope’s teachings are contrary to the US immigration laws that have been passed by the US Congress as to what and the number of aliens who can come into the USA and stay there.

They're giving him cover for being pro-abortion by enabling him to claim the church's stance on borders is the same kind of thing as its stance on pro-life, which it is not. The pro-life thing is unchangeable moral teaching, the border thing is a prudential judgment. And everybody drooling over the chance to say clearly the Church knows no difference between the importance of the two issues, is cooperating with the Democratic strategy of confusing moral teaching. They knew you would.

I'm not Catholic, but I can tell you that I have never met a "in the pew" Catholic, and quite a few priests either, that would agree with this. And we live in Texas!!!!
I work with a lot of Catholics in the pro-life movement here in Texas. They care about stopping abortion. They care about protecting families. They do not support the unchecked invasion of illegal aliens in this country!!!
No, these groups are Communists that use the word "Catholic" in their names to try to gain some legitimacy. Their is nothing, and I do mean nothing, Catholic about any of these groups!!!

Yeah, #17, that is so great how those "reformers" lead to all those milk toast "churches" today that allow for homosexual ministers and bishops, who perform homosexual weddings, who bless abortion slaughterhouses, and the list goes on and on!!!

I am a Catholic who disagrees with the Pope the Bishops and anyone who is supporting bringing people into this country illegally.
If they stopped supporting it, it would stop.
Tha Bishop's appeal went into my shredder for the last few years, mostly because I don't support what they support.
I will not let these people drive me from my Church, but I will not support what I believe is wrong.
Pope francis is not the first bad Pope, there have been quite a few of them, but the Church survived.
We will survive Pope John

Luther set us free from the demands of the Law! He figured out that we were given the law to show that we are all sinners and in need of the free Grace given to us through the blood of Christ! Paul fought all kinds of corruption in the church during his time! Read Galatians and Acts! The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod does not support abortion or gay rights!

There are only three authoritative sources for the tenets of Catholic Church: The Magisterium in Rome (the teaching office of the Church), the Pope speaking ex cathedra (i.e. Pope making an explicit declaration of doctrine), and an Ecumenical Council (all the Bishops) with the Pope as its head.
What "Catholic groups" does this represent? And what authority do they have?
........ Fake news.

Let the Church set up assistance centers in Port au Prince, then. It will eliminate the root cause of the problem.

Does the Catholic church's refugee resettlement business rake in more money than the churches do in the collection plates? The church forgets the scene where Jesus overturned the tables of the moneychangers in the temple, and the Vatican itself accepts no refugees, let alone illegal aliens from foreign cultures.
