A Chicago-area teacher has filed a civil rights lawsuit against her former school district, which fired her after she criticized deadly Black Lives Matter riots in Chicago last year on her personal Facebook page.
Jeanne Hedgepeth, who taught for roughly 20 years at Palatine High School in Illinois, commented on the violent Black Lives Matter riots that occurred across the country after George Floyd, a Black man, died while in police custody in Minneapolis. In Chicago, 82 people were shot, and 19 died over that weekend.(Snip)Another post said she found the term “white privilege” as racist as the “N” word.

Sadly, this joke could be describing the new America. What has happened? Why have we collectively lost our minds? And what has COVID-19 got to do with it?
While Americans have been asleep at the wheel, the power brokers were manipulating us into constant societal unrest, with dwindling individual liberties and growing dependency on the government and big corporations. COVID-19 has been a handy justification for left-leaning politicians to promote and solidify their ideology. What many Americans were led to believe was well-intentioned concern for

A federal judge blocked a West Virginia law banning transgender athletes from competing in girls sports, saying the legislation likely runs afoul of the Constitution. Judge Joseph R. Goodwin, a Clinton appointee, said if West Virginia wants to treat people differently, there must be a compelling reason to do so. “I have been provided with scant evidence that this law addresses any problem at all, let alone an important problem,” the judge wrote in a 15-page opinion. West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice, a Republican, signed the Save Women’s Sports bill in April. The legislation requires the state’s public schools to allow biological females only to compete in girls sports.

A widespread internet outage caused several major websites to shut down Thursday afternoon, including Amazon, Delta, Capital One and Costco.
It's still unclear what caused the outage, but Akamai, a content distribution network that helps with the spread of data around the internet, posted online there was an "emerging issue" with their Edge DNS service. A DNS, or domain name service, helps match a website's name to its IP address. If the DNS fails, it becomes impossible to search and connect to a website by name.
By approximately 1:13pm ET, the site read "all systems operational."

As we discussed last week, “critical race theory” is a subtle philosophical construct where the answer to everything is: THAT’S RACIST! Teachers hawking this glop are being defended by their journalist allies, who sneer that CRT critics are too stupid to understand the nuances of the theory.
The Aristotelian ideal of this sneer was Elle Reeve’s “special report” for CNN — pre-taped to eliminate any danger of Elle being contradicted by someone smarter, such as a 10-year-old.
CNN’s Brianna Keilar introduced the segment by asking her: “Do these vocal opponents of critical race theory actually understand fully what it is?”

In the old days, Democrats had predictable agendas, supposedly focused on individual rights, the “little guy,” and distrust of the military-industrial-intelligence complex.
The Left, often on spec, blasted the wealthy, whether the “lucre” was self-made or inherited. The old-money rich were lampooned as idle drones.
If the rich were self-made, they were deemed sell-outs. A good example was ’70s pop icon Jackson Brown’s “The Pretender,” whose lyrics railed about “happy idiots” who “struggled for the legal tender.”
Democrats talked nonstop about the “working man.” They damned high gas and electricity prices that hurt “consumers.”(Snip)That was then; this is now.

Rep. Ilhan Omar is leading House lawmakers demanding the Biden administration create a special envoy to combat Islamophobia, citing a rise in anti-Muslim incidents across the globe. In a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the lawmakers said the U.S. must take the lead in combatting the phenomenon. “As part of our commitment to international religious freedom and human rights, we must recognize Islamophobia as a pattern that is repeating in nearly every corner of the globe,” the lawmakers wrote. Back when Arizona Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly ran for office in 2020, a black and white photograph surfaced of someone in a Nazi uniform, taken from a yearbook dating from the time the former astronaut attended the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The costumed Nazi was Mr. Kelly, dressed “as Hitler,” said the National File, a right-wing online publication that also broke the story about another controversial photograph, one from Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam’s medical school yearbook showing two men, one dressed as a Ku Klux Klansman and the other in blackface. Mr. Northam first acknowledged he was one of the men in racist garb, then denied it.

U.S. Senate candidate J.D. Vance said on Tuesday that his first order of business if elected would be to fight for legislation that would double the number of agents stationed at the U.S.-Mexico border and finish building a border wall.
The former Marine and Iraq War veteran told Republicans at a local sports bar that the situation at the southern border has gotten so out of hand that the Marine Corps should be sent there.

A group of scientists discovered ancient viruses frozen in two ice samples taken from the Tibetan Plateau in China, and most of them are unlike anything ever seen before.
The findings, published Wednesday in the journal Microbiome, came from ice cores taken in 2015 that scientists said began to freeze at least 14,400 years ago. (Snip) When researchers analyzed the ice, they found genetic codes for 33 viruses. Of the 33, genetic codes for four of them showed they are part of virus families that typically infect bacteria. Up to 28 were novel, meaning they had never before been identified.

Weekly jobless claims unexpected moved higher last week despite hopes that the U.S. labor market is poised for a strong recovery heading into the fall. Initial filings for unemployment insurance totaled 419,000 for the week ended July 17, well above the 350,000 Dow Jones estimate and more than the upwardly revised 368,000 from the previous period, the Labor Department reported Thursday. The news sent stock market futures off their highs for the morning, with Wall Street pointing to a slightly negative open. Government bond yields also endged lower. The total was the highest weekly count since May 15 and comes

After watching Anthony Fauci once again obfuscate, evade and outright lie before Congress about his failures as this nation’s de facto COVID-19 czar, we’re led to one inescapable conclusion: He needs to resign immediately or be fired for incompetence and dishonesty.
Fauci’s appearance this week before a congressional panel should be the final straw, even for his partisan supporters in the Democratic Party.

Joe Biden told a business owner struggling to hire staff that he needs to pay better wages, as he seemed to concede that the pandemic increase in unemployment benefits was keeping people away from work.
The president spoke at a half-empty CNN town hall at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati on Wednesday night. Flattering camera angles hid the small crowd from viewers at home, but reporters traveling with Biden tweeted pictures of rows of empty seats. At the event, Biden was asked by Ohio restaurant owner John Lanni how he planned to resolve the staffing crisis in his industry

Are all those media items featuring Joe Biden eating ice cream not a diversion from the serious issues of the day but rather a coded warning?

I admit I was worried last January. It really seemed as if the Left had taken it all and that nothing stood between them and their goals. The Supreme Court, Electoral College, HR-1, criminalization of firearms, rollback of immigration reforms, and all that just to start.

But all the time, something kept telling me: they’re leftists -- they will screw it up.

At this point, the American Left is in complete disarray.

We’ve all seen this before, as has every leader of every country in the world. A sitting President of the United States cannot put together a coherent answer to a simple question. (snip) Asked an unchallenging question of 12-year-olds and vaccination, he drifted off in the middle of a sentence, and, as he so often does, looked down, got that Deliverance banjo player look on his face, and appeared to be listening to something in his earpiece, and then strung together a sequence of words that were not grammatically related to the rest of the sentence, but which, on their own, were coherent.

On Wednesday night, President Biden was granted the second town hall of his presidency (with the first in February and the third in the last year) by his adoring fanboys and girls at CNN and, not surprisingly, the Jeffrey Zucker-led network made sure that the 80-minute event was little more than a foot-message (or smelling of the hair since that suits his fancy).
Along with an eight-to-three split in Democrat to Republican audience questioners, CNN Tonight host Don Lemon repeatedly inserted himself in trying to help Biden along, press him from the left, and offer only one real challenging moment. The most noteworthy audience question

During his Wednesday night CNN town hall, President Joe Biden talked about a “push to eliminate” 9mm pistols that have an ammunition capacity beyond that of which the left approves.
Biden said, “The idea you need a weapon that can have the ability to fire 20, 30, 40, 50, 120 shots from that weapon, whether it’s a 9mm pistol or whether it’s a rifle, is ridiculous. As we reported earlier, Joe Biden’s CNN town hall did not go well.
He completely lost his mind, talked about aliens, praised Xi Jing Ping, and told several lies. But other than that, great job!
But one lie he told was just so shocking, in light of what we know, it deserved to be highlighted with a post all its own, for how breathtakingly false it was.
Biden has spent months focused on pitching vaccinations. Despite that, he failed to meet his vaccination goals.
But when he spoke about vaccinations on the town hall he said something shockingly untrue. Talk about misinformation. This is a big honking example of that, right here.

President Joe Biden’s administration is weighing the idea of more mask mandates for Americans during the coronavirus pandemic — even if they are vaccinated, according to a report published Wednesday.
Details of the masking discussions were reported by the Washington Post.
The White House is weighing these options as the “Delta variant” of the virus is spreading, even among the vaccinated.
The report noted that federal health officials are considering whether they would update masking guidance, asking all Americans to wear masks indoors in public places.
The White House would likely face strong pushback from vaccinated Americans
