Amazon’s mission: Getting a 'key'
to your apartment building

Original Article

Amazon is tired of ringing doorbells. The online shopping giant is pushing landlords around the country—sometimes with financial incentives—to give its drivers the ability to unlock apartment-building doors themselves with a mobile device. The service, dubbed Key for Business, is pitched as a way to cut down on stolen packages by making it easy to leave them in lobbies and not outside. Amazon benefits because it enables delivery workers to make their rounds faster.(Snip) But the Amazon program, first announced in 2018, may stir security and privacy concerns as it gains traction. The company said that it does background checks on delivery people

Comments:

The government refuses to prosecute criminals, so on the pretext of safeguarding corporate profits, plus adding convenience, we are encouraged to give strangers electronic access to our homes. This would pair nicely with the radar devices the same company is developing for use in our bedrooms, in order to "promote healthy sleep cycles" (and to see when anyone is home). The Stasi could only blush at how much progress has been made.

I have a garage door opener which is internet enabled. The manufacturer is pushing me to enable a function which would allow Amazon to open it. Perhaps they can implant a means to administer new vaccines and avoid that pesky consent process. Public health, you know. Tut tut. Abolish individual privacy and governmental transparency and politicians’ and bureaucrats’ lives would be made so much easier. And that is for the common good. You see.

AP Fact check, in my experience Amazon rings the doorbell in maybe 0.5% of deliveries. Maybe a nice opening line, but factually inaccurate.

Any thief who wants your car will steal your car. Any thief who wants in your house will get into your house. This is why we have insurance for the cool stuff and bank vaults for the valuable stuff. Amazon has better things to do than rob me.

The Department of Justice has decided not to investigate whether the civil rights of residents in New York’s government-run nursing homes were violated by Gov. Homeland Security Department officials on Friday officially canceled contracts for 31 miles of border wall construction that had been planned for Texas, saying the barriers were “not necessary” to save lives or help the environment. Construction hadn’t started on the two segments, and the federal government hadn’t yet acquired new land that would have been necessary to build the wall there, the department said. President Trump left office with about $2 billion in congressionally allocated wall money unspent, though most of the money had been earmarked and put under contract. Friday’s decision marks the first cancellation of those projects. The Biden administration said it’s part of a broad review

At least 270,000 migrants have sneaked into the U.S. and burrowed into communities across the country so far this fiscal year, according to the latest Border Patrol data. Agents know them as “gotaways” who represent an acute national security risk, according to the head of the National Sheriffs’ Association’s border security committee. Unlike the migrant children who often surrender to border authorities and the migrants who are caught and screened before release, gotaways sneak through the country’s defenses without any look into their criminal histories. The Border Patrol is missing about 1,100 of them a day, said Sheriff Mark Dannels of Cochise County, Arizona, who got his numbers directly

A federal judge blocked a West Virginia law banning transgender athletes from competing in girls sports, saying the legislation likely runs afoul of the Constitution. Judge Joseph R. Goodwin, a Clinton appointee, said if West Virginia wants to treat people differently, there must be a compelling reason to do so. “I have been provided with scant evidence that this law addresses any problem at all, let alone an important problem,” the judge wrote in a 15-page opinion. West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice, a Republican, signed the Save Women’s Sports bill in April. The legislation requires the state’s public schools to allow biological females only to compete in girls sports.

They can’t stand other opinions. They can’t. They cannot be allowed to live. The people who hold them must be targeted and smeared. All must bow before the unholy altar of American progressivism. If you can’t convince them, destroy them, or deprogram them. That’s what The Washington Post’s Eugene Robinson and Nikole Hannah-Jones wanted yesterday. Grabien’s Tom Elliott clipped the madness. People who support Trump are mentally defective, so they must be deprogrammed. What does that mean? Sounds Stalinist in the extreme. It also reeks of Chinese Cultural Revolution underpinnings.
