The Department of Justice has decided not to investigate whether the civil rights of residents in New York’s government-run nursing homes were violated by Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s controversial admission policy related to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a letter Friday, the DOJ’s Office of Legislative Affairs told US Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), ranking member of that House Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, that New York was off the hook in connection with potential violations of the Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act.(Snip)In a prepared statement, Scalise called it “outrageous that the Department of Justice refuses to investigate the deadly ‘must admit’ orders issued by governors

Homeland Security Department officials on Friday officially canceled contracts for 31 miles of border wall construction that had been planned for Texas, saying the barriers were “not necessary” to save lives or help the environment. Construction hadn’t started on the two segments, and the federal government hadn’t yet acquired new land that would have been necessary to build the wall there, the department said. President Trump left office with about $2 billion in congressionally allocated wall money unspent, though most of the money had been earmarked and put under contract. Friday’s decision marks the first cancellation of those projects. The Biden administration said it’s part of a broad review

The Minnesota Vikings and assistant coach Rick Dennison have parted ways after the coach refused to get a COVID-19 vaccine, according to ESPN. He is believed to be the first position coach to move on from his team because of the vaccine. The move comes a day after an NFL memo revealed that teams will be forced to forfeit if there is a COVID-19 outbreak resulting from unvaccinated players. The rule was set to encourage players and coaches to receive the vaccine. Any staff member who is labeled a “Tier 1” member is required to receive the vaccine. The league has also said

A Florida man was introduced to two very different kinds of neighbors this week. One of them is being hailed a hero for possibly saving his life as he convulsed inside a car—which rolled down into the lawn of a family who, instead of helping, yelled at them to get off their property, authorities said Thursday. “Get off our lawn,” the homeowners reportedly said. “Get the man out of here, have him die somewhere else.” The shocking incident happened Monday as a lawn worker identified only as “Tony” was walking to work in a Palm Beach County community, according to the local sheriff’s office.

At least 270,000 migrants have sneaked into the U.S. and burrowed into communities across the country so far this fiscal year, according to the latest Border Patrol data. Agents know them as “gotaways” who represent an acute national security risk, according to the head of the National Sheriffs’ Association’s border security committee. Unlike the migrant children who often surrender to border authorities and the migrants who are caught and screened before release, gotaways sneak through the country’s defenses without any look into their criminal histories. The Border Patrol is missing about 1,100 of them a day, said Sheriff Mark Dannels of Cochise County, Arizona, who got his numbers directly

The 18-year-old son of a retired NYPD deputy inspector has been arrested for allegedly driving his BMW through a group of protesters this week in the West Village, leaving a teenager injured. Justin Burgos, of Staten Island, was driving in the area about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday when he honked at the protesters, who were blocking the corner of Bleecker Street and West 10th Street with bicycles and he tried to pass them, police said. As the demonstrators surrounded his Beemer, Burgos accelerated through the crowd, striking an 18-year-old, who suffered an injury to his right knee, cops said.

Buses leaving the Texas city at the heart of the border crisis are struggling to keep up with business—because they’re full of illegal immigrants released into the US by overwhelmed Border Patrol agents, The Post has learned. Since the crisis erupted following President Biden’s election, the four bus companies that operate out of the Central Station bus terminal in McAllen, Texas, have added as many as six daily routes, totaling 250 seats—but it’s still not enough, City Manager Roy Rodriguez said.(Snip)After being tested, the migrants are escorted to a nearby center run by Catholic Charities, where they stay for an average of 24 hours

A Chicago-area teacher has filed a civil rights lawsuit against her former school district, which fired her after she criticized deadly Black Lives Matter riots in Chicago last year on her personal Facebook page.
Jeanne Hedgepeth, who taught for roughly 20 years at Palatine High School in Illinois, commented on the violent Black Lives Matter riots that occurred across the country after George Floyd, a Black man, died while in police custody in Minneapolis. In Chicago, 82 people were shot, and 19 died over that weekend.(Snip)Another post said she found the term “white privilege” as racist as the “N” word.

A federal judge blocked a West Virginia law banning transgender athletes from competing in girls sports, saying the legislation likely runs afoul of the Constitution. Judge Joseph R. Goodwin, a Clinton appointee, said if West Virginia wants to treat people differently, there must be a compelling reason to do so. “I have been provided with scant evidence that this law addresses any problem at all, let alone an important problem,” the judge wrote in a 15-page opinion. West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice, a Republican, signed the Save Women’s Sports bill in April. The legislation requires the state’s public schools to allow biological females only to compete in girls sports.

The government refuses to prosecute criminals, so on the pretext of safeguarding corporate profits, plus adding convenience, we are encouraged to give strangers electronic access to our homes. This would pair nicely with the radar devices the same company is developing for use in our bedrooms, in order to "promote healthy sleep cycles" (and to see when anyone is home). The Stasi could only blush at how much progress has been made.
