Cases of COVID-19 have tripled over the past three weeks, and hospitalizations and deaths are rising among unvaccinated people. While the rates are still sharply down from their January highs, officials are concerned by the reversing trendlines and what they consider needless illness and death. And cases are expected to continue to rise in coming weeks.

Consumer prices roared higher last month, rising at their fastest pace in decades. Inflation rose 5% in the 12-months ending in May, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Thursday. That marked the biggest jump since August 2008. Stripping out food and energy costs, which tend to be more volatile, inflation stood at 3.8% over that 12- month period. The adult LGBTQ population in the United States reported living in households facing much higher levels of food insecurity when compared to non-LGBTQ adults, according to data recently released by the Census Bureau.
