Due no doubt to a remarkable financial acumen that allowed him to stretch a career government official’s salary to astounding lengths, a luxurious retirement on the Delaware shore worthy of any top-tier Goldman Sachs executive beckoned to former vice-president Joe Biden in 2019. But, attractive as it must have seemed, he declined to heed the call. As he saw it, an appointment with destiny awaited him (snip)
But there was a time-bomb quietly ticking away in Biden’s GHQ (snip) As the murky depths of Hunter Biden’s bizarrely “discarded” laptop are finally plumbed (snip) the American people were ill-served by Barr’s reluctance to release the information he held.

FTA: “Despite the criticism levelled at Barr -- some of it deserved -- I don’t see him as a Deep State plant intent only on thwarting Trump.”
Then what was the motivation for a guy who allowed an investigation to go on knowing it was all based upon a lie? Furthermore, having in his possession exculpatory evidence and sitting on it is reprehensible and illegal. Those actions covered up a truth that could be proven regarding Biden’s illegal corruption and this guy did nothing. He wasn’t interested in truth or justice. It seems Barr was afraid to cross the democrats and reveal what he knew to be evidence against the pay for play scam that Biden had been involved in for decades. It is revealing that Barr allowed a man he knew was innocent to be put through the democrat impeachment meat grinder and remained silent. If as the author states he doesn’t believe Barr was a Deep State plant put there to thwart Trump, then what was his motivation? It certainly did not rely on his respect for law and order. Was Barr just stupid? Was he just protecting his agencies because he did not want them involved in anything that could be considered interfering in an election? Therefore, he allowed a man who he knew to be a totally corrupt to get a pass which is even more reprehensible. This guy is the definition of deep state. He has wallowed in the trough in Washington DC for decades and presided over the DOJ and FBI and did nothing to bring guilty men to justice because of their status. Regardless of his motivation Bill Barr did the country a grave injustice.
When he could have done the entire country an immeasurable service and cleaned up the DOJ and FBI, he chose not to be bothered. What kind of integrity is that? When you know something is wrong and you do nothing about it, you are as guilty as the perpetrators. You are part of the Deep State when you look the other way for whatever reason. The DOJ and FBI should be the most ethical and uncompromised agencies in the country and they have been shown to be the most corrupt and Bill Barr did nothing and the nation is suffering from his lack of character, moral fortitude and integrity. By the way, has anyone heard from Joe DoGenova or Victoria Toensing?

“ the man who was supposed to restore honor, calm, and normalcy to the Oval Office…”
I’m STILL amazed at the hubris? naïveté? of people who opine that PDJT’s White House was lacking honor, calm, and “normalcy.” While they spew these platitudes, they fail to give us insight as to how THEY would respond to relentless slander and continuous attempts at personal destruction.
And,
FTA: “ Despite the criticism levelled at Barr -- some of it deserved -- I don’t see him as a Deep State plant intent only on thwarting Trump. Rather, I tend to agree with the view of Andrew McCarthy, who explained many of Barr’s difficulties in serving as Trump’s AG due to the president’s incendiary language.”
No further comment needed. Mr Zuckerbrod lives in an alternate reality from me.

The author is unable to whitewash the TREASONOUS actions of William Barr. Barr has earned a hard look at all he has done to the detriment of America...his collusion with his best family friend, the criminal Robert Mueller for one thing. Mr. Zuckerbrod must have been commissioned to sanitize the Barr episode... a task at which he has failed miserably.

I don’t think the information stored on the laptop will actually ever produce any seriously negative consequences for Hunter and Joe. They’ve evaded justice so far. Why would that evasion change? No one in the media is interested. It will be swept under the rug.

If the laptop had gone to Guiliani, Trump, or Trump Jr., they would have been arrested and charged with possession of child porn. That is another reason media outlets did not touch the story, because just having a copy of the hard drive would have been illegal due to content. That tells you something of how much a sleazebag Hunter is and how pathetic Joe and Jill Biden are to have lived off Hunter.

Whatever is on Hunter Biden's laptop has not been plumbed by any source that has the authority to do anything about it, and it will not be plumbed as long as Democrats remain in the White House and in control of the FBI and the Justice department.
And Yes; The Justice Depart is no longer an impartial law enforcement agency it is a Democrat controlled and source used for political purposes like Der Sturmer the Nazi newspaper.

Obstruction of Justice in the face of clear and compelling evidence for political purposes. This isn't the proper forum for a debate over this, a US COURTROOM IS.

Barr made a choice, all right. BEFORE he was nominated to the post, he planned to undermine the Administration. He did not have to be 'planted'. He is a back-stabbing seditionist.

Once could be an error, 2 or more becomes a pattern. Barr owed the American citizens honesty in the DOJ independently of PDJs actions.

I hope that in the waning moments of his life Mr. Barr will be tormented by the knowledge that he enabled the enemies of our constitution in their destruction of our country. I hope the torment will be deep and relentless.
He had a chance to be a legendary leader in our history. Instead, he will be remembered as a dismal failure.

Who pushed Barr's selection and nomination?
This from the Senate Republican Policy Committee on the Barr nomination:
- William Barr is one of the most qualified attorney general nominees in history, having already served as attorney general under President George H.W. Bush.
- He also served as an intelligence analyst at CIA, assistant attorney general in the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel, and deputy attorney general.
- Barr has shown exemplary independence, promising to allow completion of the Mueller investigation and praising the tenure of Jeff Sessions as attorney general.
So we have Bush history, CIA connection, and non-interference in the Mueller inquisition - and GOP establishment endorsement. Interesting dots...wonder how they connect.

I don’t think the author comprehends the loathing so many Americans have for their government and most national institutions from schools to the medical establishment to the press. The consequences of that alienation will be seismic and the only beneficiary will be China.

Sorry. I "disparage Barr's integrity and good faith." In retrospect, the man who assured that the Justice Department never punished anyone responsible for the FBI's misconduct at Ruby Ridge was never going to institute meaningful reforms in the FBI and DOJ three decades later. Barr accepted the position of Attorney General a second time to preserve his legacy of Justice Department misconduct, not to reform it.

RE: the same quote posted by #1.
I DO see Barr as "a Deep State plant intent only on thwarting Trump.” The author and I will have to disagree on this one.
I agree with #1 that Barr did nothing to clean up the obvious massive corruption in the FBI and DoJ, which he had total authority over. IMO, that "failure" means he approved of their actions. Barr is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Like becoming a bank robber is "a mistaken choice", becoming a treasonous, corrupt AG is a pretty bad choice. Barr is a rotten, corrupt, person who broke the law many times.
