Hotels, luxury resorts and management companies that funnel money back to a single company have secured about $53 million in federal virus aid, the largest known amount to benefit one firm and the latest example of how the government’s small business relief program is also helping big companies. Those companies reported in public filings that their hotels had received millions in forgivable loans through a government program meant to help small businesses.

While most Americans remain under a stay-at-home order, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Many states around the country are planning to reopen their economies, led by Republican governors who understand the benefits of a healthy business climate—from job creation to economic growth. In Utah, state legislators are considering legislation that would open certain businesses by the end of April. As Texas Governor Greg Abbott puts it, “The businesses that will have minimal or zero impact on the spread of COVID-19 will be the first ones to open up.” The stakes are simply too high to be hysterical

Patricia Dowd, a manager for a semiconductor company, died suddenly after she had appeared to recover from flu-like symptoms, the LA Times reported. Her death was at first believed to be from a heart attack. But this week, authorities told her family that she tested positive for COVID-19, making her the first confirmed fatality from the illness in the nation.

In light of horrific job losses and a crashing economy, calls to suicide hotlines are up over 40 percent nationwide. Many Americans have witnessed daily briefings in which New York State's governor, Andrew Cuomo, makes repeated demands of the President and exploits his moment in the sun by condemning the President and even maligning him. Instead of constantly complaining, it's about time Cuomo apologized to President Trump and to those Americans across the country who specifically helped NYC during her time of need. It is not President Trump who has fallen short in doing his job, rather governor Cuomo and his side-kick Bill de Blasio, mayor of New York City.Three weeks ago Cuomo was demanding ventilators, masks, gowns, and hospital beds.

But it’s hitting certain areas far harder than others. Of the 10 states with the highest number of deaths per 100,000 residents, only two voted for President Donald Trump in 2016, and one of those was Michigan, which had been voting Democratic until Trump flipped it. At the other end of the spectrum, of the 10 states with the lowest death rates, only one (Hawaii) voted for Hillary
