In her introductory article on Wednesday, new National Public Radio public editor Kelly McBride began with company pep talk: "the truth is, we really need NPR right now. [Italics hers.] We need its classic calm tone to inform and reassure us, to bear witness to our anxiety and our grief. We need NPR's sharp journalists to keep questioning authorities — from the local mayor to the governors to, yes, President Donald Trump."If you think NPR is known for sharp questioning of authorities, we have a raft of Barack Obama NPR interviews to show you. A "classic calm tone"?It depends on how the NPR hosts are talking about.

I recall C.S. Lewis remarking that when a person says "I'm as good as you" it's because he believes that he is NOT as good a you.

The headline should be "brainwashing the overeducated".
Every NPR listener I talk to, it's like they are hypnotized and just cannot think at all.

Ah yes. The soothing calm Oh that's so sad voice with the sigh at the end of the sentence. Whatever shall we do ?
As oppose to the AMERICAN Patton voice that says we will get it done no matter the cost and we'll make it stick.
I chose option B by leaving NPR (CBC) Canada and thankfully being accepted as an American.

Liberals think they are smarter than everyone else but if they were actually as smart as they think they are they wouldn't be liberals.

NPR is a great source for news so long as the story has no agenda or politics involved.
The blinders came off for me over 20 years ago when an NPR "journalist" was interviewing someone about anti-missile defense. He opened by telling the man he was interviewing to explain why hitting a bullet with a bullet was ridiculous.
They rarely get a real conservative's point of view, and when they do, its a confrontational interview. They start every story with the assumption that the liberal point of view or position is correct, and every conservative position is wacky crazy.
If your going to listen to NPR, you have to know how to do it without taking a hammer to your radio.

"We're so great. We're so smart. We're so essential. You need us to tell you how to think and what to do...to 'bear witness' because your own witness isn't worth a cr$%."

That's the problem. We've got too many people educated beyond their intelligence. And most of them end up living in the DC Swamp.

Decades ago I listened to NPR every morning during my 20 minute commute. Then I realized most of NPR was only liberal propaganda. I'm angry that my tax dollars in part help pay for this propaganda. Ditto PBS.

Let's speak very softly, calmly. Maybe we should almost whisper. Our audience can pretend they're in the faculty lounge among true intellectuals.

I guess the vast group of us uneducated and unwashed masses should protest that our tax dollars support this crap. END IT NOW.

I used to listen to NPR a lot, years ago, when I was driving long trips at night, because the calm tones kept me awake just enough to be alert, but resting nonetheless. Then, one night, I actually listened to the words, rather than the sounds.
Haven't tuned in since.

A high majority of folks I work with with PhD's are educated way beyond their intelligence.
They know lots about a very narrow piece of information but can't tie their shoes.
THAT's how we know they are paper smart but common sense and the ability to reason are severely lacking.
SO Libs, now that we know you're all IDIOTS, what say you?

Sorry, but this country has never needed NPR. They just suck up income taxes like a vacuum cleaner. It should be stopped but demonrats prevent it because NPR is a wholly owned subsidiary of the demonrat party.
