An ugly internal power struggle in Iran is muddying mediation talks with the US, as pro-war and pro-deal factions battle it out over whether Tehran should ever surrender, sources familiar with mediation efforts tell The Post.
Though Iran’s political elites — including its president, foreign minister and parliamentary speaker — have been at the center of efforts to hammer out peace terms, regional sources told The Post that it’s Iran’s military leadership that ultimately has the power to accept or reject any agreement.
“One faction there right now is at its highest point ever in its history — the IRGC,” a source told The Post.

Clearly Iran is run by Islamic ideological (religious) fanatics, who have lived their entire lives in that mode, and will not change until they are killed.

IRGC knows that if they surrender they will not survive, so they continue to fight in the hopes that the US quits.

FTA...'President Trump himself has shied away from defining what level of attack, exactly, would warrant a return to full-scale war'
well sure mr. reporter, I'll tell you exactly what level of attack would warrant a return, and then the IRGC would continually attack just under that level. They must think the President is as stupid as Biden was/is.
All the IRGC has to do is hunker down long enough for the GDrats to scream, hold their breath, stomp their
feet until the citizens here believe the war is a 'quagmire' (didn't take long for them to throw out that word, did it) and the corrupt media to print lies about how the war is lost and people will start believing it and demand we leave the poor Iranian thugs in power. Kind of makes you wonder how many democrat politicians and members of the media are in the pocket of the Iranian government.

They know if they give up power they will be subject to war crimes or civilian crimes they have committed. , and rightfully so, they should be imprisoned or executed.

We need to just threaten to destroy all of their dams. Iran has very little water left due to an extreme drought and epic mismanagement of their scarce water resources and are even talking about abandoning Tehran due to running out of drinking water. Never mind oil, water is the real choke point. They would surrender in a day. Bomb the dams.

Flood Iran with weapons so that ordinary civilians can do more than be fodder for execution. Let a civil war reign. The Iran peoples need to secure their own freedom from Mullahs and the Revolutionary guard. Our own freedom was helped only a little by France during our own war against England. We and the West cannot win this conflict from without. Anything less than a civil war with our support will just delay a resurgence of those currently in power. Wars are not won until one side BEGS for peace. Nothing even close to that is being voiced by those we oppose - as yet.

As long as the fanatic mullets and the IRGC Thugs are in charge, nothing will change.
These groups will NEVER surrender.
They care NOTHING for what the Iranian people go through.
The vast bulk of the regular people could starve and die if thirst, and the mullets and the Thugs don't care.... as long as they -the mullets- -or the Thugs- survive.
If and when 'the bombing' resumes, I would hope that the American military and the Israelis concentrate on these two groups until they completely eliminate them.
Once these groups are gone, THEN -perhaps- some agreement can be reached.
Until then- Nothing will change.

The fickleness of the American voter is the biggest asset of our enemies. They know how to exploit it. It is for us the patriots to stand firm. Remember Regan's admonition - loss of liberty is just one election away.

There is no cease fire. Negotiating with Muslims is like negotiating with bacteria. Until they surrender, keep playing whackamole on whatever jihadists stick their heads up .

IRGC is likely waiting until the next election. If the Dems get Congress back, the IRGC may see a path to holding onto its power.

Exactly, #15. Every meeting and negotiation with the savages to date. has resulted in a delay tactic. They will attempt to continue that game because that's all they've got. It's unfortunate that the the Supreme Leader, being one-legged and burned to a crisp, will not be able to enjoy his 72 virginians.

Poster #15, you're exactly right and if the GDrats get power back, they will give the regime trillions of dollar to pay for destroying their ships, planes and infrastructure.

I'm beginning to wonder if something else has entered the fray to aid Iranians.
It has to do with the piles of cash Obama sent them, and the 5 billion or so they received from Biden.
It has to do with the EU's condemnation of it, and its resolution against assisting us.
It has to do with the unprecedented hatred of Israel,
and with the Dem-media coalition's non-stop denunciations of it.
It's something evil that has spread tentacles world wide.
PFPT: Pray for President Trump.

I know he's not, but every time I hear the term "cease fire" think anyone who believes they have an agreement with Iran on anything is an effin' IDIOT! Any and All time spent chasing that end is an absolute waste of ti, energy and a boatload of political capital.
Take em all out! that is your only viable option!
