The 'About Us' section on the Associated Press (AP) website declares the following:
"Since 1846, we have been breaking news and covering the world’s biggest stories, always committed to the highest standards of accurate, unbiased journalism. We were founded as an independent news cooperative whose members are U.S. newspapers and broadcasters, steadfast in our mission to inform the world. To this day, AP remains independent, beholden only to the facts.
"From delivering the news via pony express in 1846 to working with artificial intelligence today, we are always innovating to provide fast and factual news and information."
As always, there is a chasm of difference between what is

Perhaps when they put out erroneous articles, the one that follows with retractions and apologies should be in the same place and same length as the false one. No more hiding a one line "Oopsie" on page 9 among the obits and tube sock sales ads.

I'd love to read this article, but I'm having trouble because of all the intrusive G** D*** ads. I know they pay the bills, but does anyone with half a mind actually respond to any of them?

FTA: "The second choice is to presume all that you consume is false until proven factual, hence, to consume news from myriad outlets and then decide what is factual."
This is "consensus." Just because the majority of people believe something does not make it true, for example, the Pope, the Inquisition and virtually everybody on planet Earth thinking our planet was the center of the universe versus Kepler and Galileo. And once there is proof against the consensus, will that convince people to give up their belief (or their supposed belief) in it? Think the Flat Earth Society.
Unfortunately, you must evaluate those "myriad outlets" and therein lies the rub. Who's got the educational educational background, plus the time, to do that on EVERY issue?
The problem is, who do you trust . . . . and why.

Seriously? They are just now figuring this out? I seem to remember something about the Clinton administration taking over the AP years ago. When Clinton did this, he knew that ALL news sources pull from the AP, and if they controlled that, they controlled the flow of information. Even though a writer may write something, the AP probably sourced it.

AssPress has become a propaganda outlet, no longer a news source.

The AP is desperately trying to cobble together its ragged credibility. As we see in the example, they are grossly twisting stories in amateurish ways, publishing them in a form that gets sent everywhere, and then "fixing" their "mistake", which completely invalidates the story, and washing their hands of responsibility. They would have you think these are honest mistakes but they are anything but. They are calculated and deliberate lies.
Luckily, most people are no longer accepting most media sources as factual and are keeping track of falsehoods. After a while, people get a sense that CNN, MSNBC are off the wall nuts. The WaaPoo, Slimes, AP, and others are dubious sources of accuracy and at their best hide and twist the facts. Alt media is far more trustworthy and interesting. Even people in the middle of the political spectrum are comparing Propaganda media stories to alt media stories and realizing that the propaganda media is NOT being honest (or are terminally stupid).
Fortunately, the propaganda media absolutely refuses to attempt any remediation of their efforts. They are dedicated to their own failure as shown by implosion of viewership/readership, advertising support, and financial stability. No one wants to "see their stuff".

The Associated Press, the country's top wire service, is now bankrolled in part by millions of dollars from left-wing foundations, including one founded by "1619 Project" author Nikole Hannah-Jones. The AP is a paid propaganda organization, not “news.”

The Associated Press Style Book is the authoritative manual of Orwellian, politically correct NewSpeak, the manual for perverting language.
