I think we all knew this was coming. As Ed pointed out a few hours ago, Schumer had already signaled he was caving by lunchtime today. So this afternoon he made it official in another speech.
"Republican rejection leads us to a decision, and it's not really a decision it's a Hobson's choice," Schumer said. He continued, "Either proceed with the bill before us or risk Donald Trump throwing America into the chaos of a shutdown. This is my view is no choice at all.
"While the CR bill is very bad, the potential for a shutdown has consequences for America that are much, much worse."
Columbia University announced Thursday it has expelled or suspended students who expressed anti-Israel sentiments while occupying a campus building last spring. The Ivy League school has also revoked the diplomas of some graduates.
Columbia’s judicial board issued “multi-year suspensions, temporary degree revocations, and expulsions” related to the forcible takeover of Hamilton Hall, the New York university said in a campus-wide email. The number of punished students was not provided.

Elon Musk visited the National Security Agency on Wednesday, according to an agency spokesperson. The initially undisclosed meeting comes roughly a week after the Trump ally said the U.S. intelligence agency needed to be overhauled.
Musk’s visit was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.
A NSA spokesperson confirmed that Musk met with NSA chief Gen. Timothy Haugh in what was Musk’s first visit to the agency. While it remains unclear what Musk and Haugh discussed, NSA’s statement said the meeting helped facilitate coordination between the agency and the Trump administration.
