Schumer Blinks (AOC Upset)

I think we all knew this was coming. As Ed pointed out a few hours ago, Schumer had already signaled he was caving by lunchtime today. So this afternoon he made it official in another speech. "Republican rejection leads us to a decision, and it's not really a decision it's a Hobson's choice," Schumer said. He continued, "Either proceed with the bill before us or risk Donald Trump throwing America into the chaos of a shutdown. This is my view is no choice at all. "While the CR bill is very bad, the potential for a shutdown has consequences for America that are much, much worse."

What is so funny about this is that dems, en masse, have learned NOTHING from their election smackdown. Dems, for quite a while now, have been all hat and no cattle. They bluster and pontificate but have nothing to back it up. They counted on their allies in the media and bureaucracy to carry their bluff across the goal line. That ALL failed in the election and further, it was a PERMANENT collapse of the media and bureaucracy and without that cover the dems are lying naked in the desert. YET, they are still trying to bluster and bully. Then, they faceplant with much angst and embarrassment and more permanent damage to their brand. WHY do they keep doing this? Because it worked in the past and it's all they know. They don't have any real skills as should have been obvious from the Biden debacle. They no longer know how to govern. They try to stage manage governance but eventually their lack of results becomes damning, especially in the face of Trump's ability to get things done. What does this mean? The dem party, for all intents and purposes is the walking dead. They shuffle around looking gross and scary, dropping body parts as they shamble along. They are still a bit dangerous but we have Trumptinite which is deadly to them. It's now just a matter of time.

The democrats already look like rats in a maze that has no exit. What's one more little embarrassment? Schumer and the Gentleman from Kentucky need to think about hanging up their jockstraps and moving on to the pasture or the glue factory.

Those who are still convinced that the majority would blame Republicans for the Schumer Shutdown are suffering from delusions that can’t be fixed on a therapists’s couch. Kind of like AOC announcing what ‘the country’ does or doesn’t want as if she has a clue.

I think Schumer is beginning to " see the light". Too much old video of him saying shutdowns are bad, they are to be avoided. All the conventional Democrat pushbacks seem to be failing. For now he will give President Trump " some line", praying he will hang himself with it. I suspect internal polling shows the American public wants a leader that can act, versus one that is a burned out hulk. Time. to go along to get along...

Schumer knows now who was going to get the blame for a shutdown. The media could no longer convince the American public that this wasn't a democrat shutdown. He saw which way the wind blew.

Tactically, Sen. Schumer is right: Being (justifiably) blamed for a government shutdown wouldn’t help his party. And Democratic strategists like James Carville are also right: There’s nothing to be gained by “winning” the news cycle in the middle of March in an odd-numbered year. It’s smarter to play dead, give the opposition just enough rope to hang themselves, and rejoin the game a few months later to “save the day.” It's like the old saying goes: We can’t miss ya if ya never go away. As a long-term PR strategy, the Democrats would love to create the impression that they really, truly tried to cooperate with President Trump

President Donald Trump on Friday congratulated Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for “doing the right thing” by backing the Republican-led bill to avert a government shutdown, a choice that's put the New York Democrat at odds with many in his party. “A non pass would be a Country destroyer, approval will lead us to new heights," wrote the president Friday morning on Truth Social. "Again, really good and smart move by Senator Schumer,” wrote the president on Truth Social. "Took 'guts' and courage!" Trump added. Schumer is facing an onslaught of criticism from his left flank, with some progressive activists now referring

Columbia’s judicial board issued “multi-year suspensions, temporary degree revocations, and expulsions” related to the forcible takeover of Hamilton Hall, the New York university said in a campus-wide email. The number of punished students was not provided. The announcement comes as Columbia faces a fierce crackdown from the Trump administration over the elite school’s failure to protect Jewish students and punish those engaging in antisemitism on campus.

The Trump administration and Department of Government Efficiency are proposing a dramatic downsizing of the IRS that would result in a nearly 20% reduction of its workforce by May 15 — one month after Tax Day in the United States. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer stepped Democrats away from the edge of a shutdown on Thursday — warning that repercussions of closing the federal government would be worse than the only viable alternative, passing the House GOP funding bill that many in Schumer's party loathe. Schumer’s remarks — made first during a closed-door lunch with his colleagues Thursday and then from the Senate floor in a lengthy speech — are a significant indication that enough Senate Democrats will vote to advance the House GOP bill and avoid a shutdown that would start after midnight Friday. “It’s not really a decision. Elon Musk visited the National Security Agency on Wednesday, according to an agency spokesperson. The initially undisclosed meeting comes roughly a week after the Trump ally said the U.S. intelligence agency needed to be overhauled. Musk’s visit was first reported by The Wall Street Journal. A NSA spokesperson confirmed that Musk met with NSA chief Gen. Timothy Haugh in what was Musk’s first visit to the agency. While it remains unclear what Musk and Haugh discussed, NSA’s statement said the meeting helped facilitate coordination between the agency and the Trump administration. “NSA and CYBERCOM are focused on the president, SECDEF and DNI’s priorities;
