The Myth of Red State Gun Violence

Original Article

Posted By: Hazymac, 2/22/2025 9:25:57 AM

One statistic that the gun-control crowd loves to toss around is that gun violence is highest in deep red states and lowest in deep blue states. And statistically speaking, they're correct. Per the CDC, the states with the highest per capita rates for gun murders are Mississippi, Louisiana, New Mexico, Alabama, and Missouri. The states with the lowest rates are Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Hawaii, New Jersey, and New York. So what's going on here? Is this simply a systemic problem of violent, gun totin', insurrectionist inbreds barreling through the backwoods in their pickup trucks, yeehawing and looking for my-NAHR-uh-ties to shoot?

Good, informative article, thanks, OP. There are two taboos here and that's why you often don't get the truth. First of all, how can blacks be equal to everyone else if they commit crimes and murder at a much higher rate? Point that out and it's discrimination. The second part is you are not permitted to blame them directly for their behavior because it is always somebody else's fault.

Excellent article. But 41% is NOT a majority, Mr. Skeen. It is a plurality.

One reason crime rates were lower in the 1950s was because Welfare did not exist. Everyone had to work to earn a living. And many jobs were labor intensive. By Friday night they just wanted to kick back and relax. They were too tired to plan a liquor store robbery.

I live in a constitutional carry "red" state. Pretty much anyone you meet is carrying, and I dont feel unsafe at all. I feel far less safe in those festering armpit cities with groups of "youths" cruising around looking at everyone like a starving lion looks at a zebra. Thats despite their near 100% gun control.

Earlier this week, Matt Taibbi was called as a witness by the Republican majority of a subcommittee of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Before his testimony began, Democratic Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove slandered him: Sydney Kamlager-Dove, a Democrat representing California’s 37th district in Los Angeles, began her opening remarks in a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee hearing Tuesday with a comment directed to me. “To distract from the dumpster fire this administration is pursuing,” she said, the Republicans were “elevating a serial sexual harrasser as their star witness.” That assertion was an outrageous lie, but presumably Ms. Kamlager-Dove believed she was protected by the Constitution’s Speech and Debate Clause,

You would think that geeks would spend their time and effort on geeking out. But when it comes to Trump Derangement Syndrome, even the geeks get distracted by their need to virtue signal, get political, and spin things. I used to read a lot of tech blogs, but over the past few years I have cut more and more of them out of my regular reading rotation. The first reason was that I would go to read up on the latest neat stuff and suddenly be treated to glowing reviews of sex toys and masturbation aids, and I was afraid that soon enough, I would be given top 10 lists

The White House press corps declared war on the Trump administration on Inauguration Day, and the administration has responded, but only mildly. Most recently, by taking control over the seating of reporters in the White House briefing room. You might think that something so trivial would not engage the attention of the Left, but you would be wrong. Semafor reports: “Journalists consider briefing room sit-in as Trump clashes with White House press corps.” "The Trump administration’s proposal to take over the seating arrangement within the White House press briefing room has rattled the journalists who cover the president and left them mulling how exactly to push back.

Democrats thought they had a great issue in the high price of eggs, due mostly to avian bird flu. In January, they were touting record-high egg prices as proof of the failure of Trump’s administration–even though the figures released in January were for December, before Trump’s inauguration. Weirdly, the Democrats’ harping on eggs has continued even as the price has plummeted, as in this LA Times column, published on March 8: "As their party struggles to navigate the early days of Donald Trump’s second presidency, some Democrats are convinced that their road to recovery lies in the price of eggs. Instead of leaning into Trump’s tear-down of

DOGE Chief Elon Musk revealed that those funding violent attacks against Tesla dealerships have been identified and suggested criminal charges would be imminent. Musk appeared on Tuesday for an interview with the "The Five" panel to discuss a wide range of topics. Kennedy asked him about the ongoing violence directed at Tesla, wondering how Musk could possibly "talk the unhinged off the ledge." "It is remarkable that there is so much violence," he replied. "People have burnt cars, they've fired bullets into dealerships. They have scratched swastikas into Teslas of innocent people that—that are just going about their lives."

Ms Giuffre posted a photo of her bruised face lying on a hospital bed on Instagram and said doctors told her she is going to die due to kidney failure following the wreck. Last week, the New York Post reported that “DOGEQUEST,” an anonymous website, had published a partial list of Tesla owners’ names, addresses, and phone numbers. The site, since deleted, featured a Molotov cocktail image as a cursor, and a map of supposed Tesla owners and “DOGE landmarks.” Tesla CEO Elon Musk described the doxxing site as an example of “extreme domestic terrorism;” the White House agreed. In the Department of Justice’s press release announcing charges against three suspected Tesla arsonists, Attorney General Pam Bondi warned would-be criminals, “if you join this wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla properties, the Department of Justice will put you behind bars.”

Protests used to be really something in America. Back in the anti-war 70s, college kids and young adults were protesting continued U.S. involvement in Vietnam, and it was effective enough to alter the direction of the country. Those same hippies are now grandparents and great-grandparents, if they're still alive. You might guess that a lot of their grandkids are the ones protesting Elon Musk and Tesla, Donald Trump, ICE, and whatever else they think is wrong. But that doesn't seem to be the case most of the time. Many are foreign nationals here on a student visa. A lot of them are paid protesters.

What happens when we find out that much of what we believed or assumed is completely wrong? One of the greatest accomplishments in entertainment history remains Orson Welles War of the Worlds. His 1938 production was so skillful, so brilliantly produced that hundreds if not thousands of people believed that Earth had been invaded by Martians and ran from their homes in terror. Welles had to reassure listeners that the radio broadcast was only a program and that there was no fighting between the aliens and US army forces. How did those who drove out of New Jersey in panic feel when they were finally convinced that the whole thing

But no. Presenting “Why COVID Vaccination Is Still Crucial for Children,” via Web MD (emphasis added): Vaccinated children are much less likely to develop “long COVID” than are unvaccinated children, according to a new study

Wisconsin Gov. The Evers administration's budget recommendation for the 2025-2027 fiscal period advises several other gendered terms be changed, as well. References to "wife" or "husband" are changed to "spouse" in the proposal. In other places, the word "father" is changed to "parent," and "mother" is swapped out for the phrase "parent who gave birth to the child.”

I’ve written about how the left uses language to (often falsely) shape political and social narratives. Abortion is “health care.” Illegal aliens are “undocumented citizens.” The homeless are the “unhoused,” or recently and more and more ridiculously, “people experiencing homelessness,” while people who have ties to Latin America are “Latinx” (although most Latinos in reality want nothing to do with the term). One the silliest arguments they regularly bring forth, though, is regarding the term “woman”—what does it mean? Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson doesn’t know; meanwhile, many leftists define it as “anyone who identifies as one.” Right. Enter Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D, but you probably already knew that),

There are varying opinions on party lines, as over three-fourths of Democrats — 77 percent, oppose the executive order recognizing biological truth. Only 14 percent of Democrats support the order.
