No Substitute for Victory

In his 1951 farewell address to Congress and the American public (known as the "old soldiers never die, they just fade away" speech), Army General Douglas MacArthur said something the Trump administration should recall as it seeks to end the war between Russia and Ukraine: "... once war is forced upon us, there is no other alternative than to apply every available means to bring it to a swift end. War's very object is victory, not prolonged indecision. In war there is no substitute for victory."

His words fell of deaf ears. Our national policy since the beginning has been perpetual warfare. We have had peace for very few years of our existence. I guess thats how you keep your buddies rich.

Cal Thomas, there is no need to fight a fight that is not yours. Ukraine and Russia are in Europe. It is a European issue so let the Europeans take care of it.

It is important when to hold them and when to fold them. This is not our fight directly. But indirectly we have spent a quarter trillion of our taxpayers money. We must ensure that the conclusion preserves our interests. A stable prosperous Russia that has rejoined the world community is in our interest. If both parties have to compromise territorially then so be it.

Can Greg Gutfeld Save New York City? 0 replies

Is there anyone out there who doesn’t know who Greg Gutfeld is? He is the host of the highest rated late night talk show on Fox News at 10:00 p.m. His format usually includes two guests and two regulars discussing recent current events with humor, very politically incorrect comments, and frequently blipped-out blue language. He is way funnier than Bill Maher was when his Politically Incorrect show aired from New York but the most important thing about Gutfeld is the size of his audience and who is watching.

Last As 'Never Trump' Summit Crashes and Burns

There was a massive train wreck in Washington, DC, this weekend, and it had nothing at all to do with locomotives and everything to do with a crowd of Never Trumpers assembling to shout into the dark void that has come to symbolize their movement. Even worse, their summit crashed and burned spectacularly when organizers falsely and quite publicly accused a Trump supporter of calling in a bomb threat. Let me explain. As you know from RedState's extensive coverage, CPAC also took place in DC over the past few days, drawing in a dazzling array of speakers from the Trump administration—including JD Vance, Elon Musk and Tom Homan—

According to Google’s AI Overview, approximately 653,100 people, uh, “experience homelessness” on any given night in 2023, up a crazy 12% from just the year before. It’s a stunning number, but one that probably isn’t surprising to you no matter where you live, because this has gone far beyond just being a ‘big liberal city problem.’ Likely, your small town in your red state is also “experiencing homelessness” more than it ever has. Walk down your typical formerly Norman Rockwellesque main street today and you’ll likely see more than a few shopping carts, dirty tents, and drug-addled vagrants sitting or lying around.

Former, "retired" CIA Director John Brennan issued a panicked warning over the weekend on corporate state media regarding newly confirmed FBI Director Kash Patel’s agenda. Very dark,” “unprecedented” — scary terms. Speaking of which, Brennan is the former top CIA spook who rebranded himself as a journalist and then wasted no time in appearing on MSNBC in the very first days of the Brandon Reign of Terror to declare war on anyone remotely associated with the right, including “libertarians.”

Attendees of a center-right political conference in Washington DC were forced to evacuate on Sunday, after someone claiming to be Enrique Tarrio, the former leader of the far-right Proud Boys group who was convicted and then pardoned for his role in the January 6 insurrection, allegedly emailed in a bomb threat against the event. Tarrio denied any involvement in the incident. Organizers of the Principles First summit, which is considered a center-right alternative to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), confirmed the bomb threat after they abruptly asked attendees to clear the room hosting the conference.

German conservative opposition leader Friedrich Merz appears poised to win the country’s election Sunday, while the far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party places second despite making gains. Chancellor Olaf Scholz conceded defeat, calling the election results “bitter,” The Associated Press reported. Scholz’s Social Democratic Party placed third, behind the AfD, in its worst result in a national election in decades. With more than 200 constituencies’ results declared, Reuters reported that the conservative party earned 28.8 percent of the vote with the AfD trailing at 20.9 percent. The Social Democrats came in at third place at 16.3 percent. The AP noted that Germany, as the most populous country in the European Union,

Until recently, the U.S. and the rest of the developed world pursued a costly global policy of “net-zero” carbon emissions to battle the supposed ill-effect of climate change. But President Donald Trump has changed all that by ending the U.S.’ commitment to the global net-zero effort. Will today’s highly partisan voters support Trump? The latest I&I/TIPP Poll data suggest a high-degree of skepticism among many voters over global warming’s threat. Three-quarters of those responding to the I&I/TIPP Poll agreed there are reasons for “public skepticism toward climate-change policies,” while just over a third of voting-age Americans say they themselves “distrust” the information used to sell previous climate-change policies.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced plans this week to move up to $50 billion of the Pentagon’s budget from “low-impact and low-priority programs” to ones that align with President Trump’s defense strategy — an excellent first step to get the department ready for the threats America faces from China and other adversaries. But not even cutting every last DEI program and burdensome administrative process will yield anywhere close to $50 billion. The only way to find that kind of money is to cut weapons programs that no longer meet America’s needs.

As Elon Musk and his team of AI geeks uncover massive abuse, fraud, and waste in government spending, Fort Knox, with Donald Trump's approval, is now on the agenda. How long before the notion of examining state voter rolls takes hold? As a mini-exploration, I asked ChatGPT, “How was the 2020 presidential election rigged by Democrats?” Chuck Schumer might have written the answer that I received! “While there were a number of claims and instances of voting irregularities reported during the 2020 election, extensive investigations by courts, state and local election officials, and independent organizations found no evidence of widespread fraud that would have altered the election results.”

After President Donald Trump was elected, we published a semi-whimsical list of what would be “out” and “in” after his victory as the left instantly switched gears (“What’s In And What’s Out After Trump’s Stunning Victory”). On that list: Out: The economy is doing great! In: Why hasn’t Trump fixed the economy yet?? Over the weekend, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries proved us right. “Donald Trump and Republicans consistently promised that they were going to lower the high cost of living, and they’ve done the exact opposite,” Jeffries said. “They’ve shown no interest in lowering costs in the United States of America, which are too high.”

I’ve written about how the left uses language to (often falsely) shape political and social narratives. Abortion is “health care.” Illegal aliens are “undocumented citizens.” The homeless are the “unhoused,” or recently and more and more ridiculously, “people experiencing homelessness,” while people who have ties to Latin America are “Latinx” (although most Latinos in reality want nothing to do with the term). One the silliest arguments they regularly bring forth, though, is regarding the term “woman”—what does it mean? Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson doesn’t know; meanwhile, many leftists define it as “anyone who identifies as one.” Right. Enter Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers (D, but you probably already knew that),

On Saturday's edition of MSNBC's The Weekend, former CIA Director and current MSNBC analyst John Brennan claimed it was "absurd" to suggest that President Trump fired C.Q. Brown, who Biden had appointed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, because he had a woke agenda. Absurd? Really? After the death of George Floyd in 2020, Brown put out a video in which he focused on his own trials and tribulations as an African-American, and concluded by saying that he wanted "to lead and listen to necessary conversations on racism, diversity, and inclusion."

I am old enough to have owned a half-dozen cars or trucks with no computers, including a 1941 Ford coup, a 1956 Chevrolet two-door sedan, and a 1966 Chevrolet Malibu. Fixing these vehicles to make them run correctly took some rudimentary skills and a Motors Manual. The electrical system comprised wires, fuses, and a fuse box. The fuel system was simple as well. Diagnosing the problems was simple, and I could fix it all myself. Even the carburetor was not that hard to rebuild. But Gutfeld’s indisputably superb ratings are yet more proof that the right is ascendant in the culture wars and that more and more Americans are craving comedy and commentary from fresh, independent voices.
