Strike a pose. That's exactly what first lady Melania Trump is doing in her new official White House portrait that was released Monday afternoon. The first lady is seen in a striking power pose--leaning slightly forward with her hands resting on a table. The black and white portrait was captured by esteemed photographer Régine Mahaux. It was taken on January 21, 2024, in the Yellow Oval Room of the White House, according to the office of the first lady.

Comments:

Beauty, elegance, judicious independence. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Beautiful First Lady. ƁUT, I hate to be the first to notice her puffy face. In all fairness, I think it was not right for her official portrait to be taken the day after the Inauguration. She had been on her feet (mostly in high heels) from early morning, through the Inauguration and had to attend four official balls that evening. She had no chance to unwind and get a little rest, she's not 29 y.o. anymore. More power to her, very impressive pose.

She has withstood the barrage of slings and arrows against herself and her family for the past eight or nine years, and endured the refining fires of a lawfare inferno that was meant to destroy her husband, herself, her family, and their way of life. The experience, could have weakened a woman of lesser self confidence and strength of character. But, she is as elegant, gracious and beautiful as ever, and it appears to have made her stronger and wiser for having endured it. She came to President Trump’s inauguration dressed to project capable, determined, intelligent, no nonsense strength of character and power beneath the elegance and grace of her beauty. She is following through with her official FLOTUS portrait this time around. She has been blessed with great physical beauty, but it is even more impressive because of her strength, character and inner beauty. That combination outshines every modern First Lady, including Jacqueline Kennedy, who was touted for her elegant style and beauty. This presidential term could very well solidify FLOTUS Melania Trump a place among the greatest in our history. President Trump has already earned that distinction among American presidents.

I noticed she is not wearing any jewelry. Nothing to distract from her quiet beauty and confident spirit. Her photo reminded me of 1 Peter 3:3-4, Expanded Bible: "It is not [external things like] ·fancy [braided; elaborate] hair, gold jewelry, or fine clothes that should ·make you beautiful. No, your beauty should come from ·within you [your inner self; the hidden/secret person of the heart]—the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit that will never ·be destroyed [fade; perish] and is ·very precious [very valuable; of great worth] to God [Proverbs 31:30]."

Only 10 days into President Donald Trump’s second term it’s abundantly clear that Christians who opposed his presence in the White House and condemned their brethren for supporting it have some repenting to do. Never Trumpers spent the last decade weaponizing their faith to demonize Christian Trump supporters. By the time the 2024 election rolled around, they had proudly endorsed the radical, openly anti-Christian Joe Biden stand-in for president. [Snip] Christ-followers are indeed called to be faithful regardless of who is president. But Christians who donate to, promote, and vote for candidates who proudly assault the kingdom of God are undoubtedly complicit in that attack.

Vance held his own, refuting the baseless claim by noting the country was founded “by some immigrants and some settlers”... [Snip] Britain began establishing the 13 original colonies in the early 1600’s. Over the next century or so, hundreds of thousands of Brits moved to the British colonies that were established by settlers--not immigrants. There was no “nation” being immigrated to by the first settlers.

It happens a lot: You’ll hear about a new movie or TV show with a really cool, totally original premise, but alas, the writers and actors fumbled the football in the execution. The first few minutes are promising, but you quickly realize that the script’s premise far exceeded the participants’ talents. It’s frustrating and annoying. An example of this is the 1995 supernatural thriller “The Prophecy,” starring Christopher Walken and Viggo Mortensen, where humans discover a “lost” chapter in the Book of Revelation: Joseph: What is it? Thomas Daggett: Twenty-third chapter of Saint John's Revelations. Joseph: And? Thomas Daggett: There is no twenty-third chapter. Joseph: Well, maybe this is the Teacher's Edition.
