Is Donald Trump Actually a Conservative?

Original Article

For conservatives “of a certain age” — i.e. those of us who can remember the Reagan years firsthand — conservatism is as much a life philosophy as a political movement. It was one of the key distinctions between the two parties: Republicans were guided by a specific belief system — conservatism — whereas the Democrats were more of a hodgepodge blend of various demographics. Back then, the Democratic Party was a coalition party. Really, the only thing a union worker in Pittsburgh and a vegan environmentalist in Berkley had in common was that they both expected the Democratic Party to help ‘em grab a bigger piece of the pie.

Comments:

I think he is a Conservative, but the definition is evolving.

If you take some of the "conservative commentators" as examples, many of them destroyed themselves with their NeverTrump endless, brainless, logic-free rhetoric. Whatever he is, he's been better at most things than the rest of the political hacks out there.

Not everything labeled “conservative” is worth conserving. The more important question is “What will Donald Trump fight to conserve?” We know the answer, and that’s why we voted for him.

I don't care. At all. I only care that I know he loves this country in the same way Reagan did and will do his best to help us recover from the damage the left has inflicted. The rest is noise. I'm not interested in dictionaries.

Conservatism as a political ideology was best and consistently defined and described over several decades by Ronald Reagan. Like the term, "classical liberal," how one defines an ideological term is critical to coming up with a meaningful answer. Trump defies most labels of convenience; however, he has consistently avoided displays of self-deprecating humor and his public persona did not begin, nor was it first revealed, when he came down the escalator in 2015. He's been an outspoken public figure, not to be equated to a politician, at least going back to the Nixon administration, so there is enough data out there to keep an army of serious political scientists busy trying to characterize the essence of Trump's political identification for the remainder of our current millennia. At the end of that hypothetical study period, I suspect the conclusion would be simply, Trump was Trump.

Funny thing about labels. Many people cannot agree with what they mean. Also, no label 100% accurately defines a person. The 'Nationalist' label is a better fit for Trump.

Mexico is currently testing a cell phone app that will allow illegal aliens to warn relatives and a local Mexican consulate that they are about to be detained. “In case you find yourself in a situation where detention is imminent, you push the alert button, and that sends a signal to the nearest consulate," said Juan Ramón de la Fuente, Mexico’s secretary of foreign affairs. Mexico estimates there are about 4.8 million Mexican citizens in the U.S. illegally, according to the Associated Press. That's probably not far off from the actual number. In recent years, Mexicans have made up a smaller and smaller percentage of illegal aliens in the U.S.,

Can you believe there are still voices in the liberal media clinging to the claim that Joe Biden never financially benefited from his family’s corrupt business schemes? This despite the fact that Biden issued his son Hunter a blanket pardon covering 11 years of potential crimes—the period where he was making his shady business deals with foreign business partners. House Republicans have been digging up evidence of how shady the Biden Crime Family has been for years now. They’ve got sworn testimonies, bank records, emails, phone calls, videos, photos, text messages, and even White House visitor logs proving Biden's corruption. Not only is that true,

According to Rolling Stone, Jack Smith’s team of prosecutors are also combing through their private and professional communications to make sure they haven’t written anything that can be subpoenaed. Are they deleting evidence of misconduct and anti-Trump bias? Late last month Jack Smith moved to dismiss both federal cases against President Trump as Trump plans to go scorched earth and fire the special counsel’s entire team of prosecutors. Christians around the globe celebrate Christmas this week, what they believe to be the miracle of the Incarnation—that God came into this world by being born as a baby, and living a human life on this earth, believing this to be the fulfillment of centuries of prophecy. Jesus of Nazareth was born around 4 B.C. in Bethlehem, a small town in Israel about five miles south of Jerusalem. Christians believe that he was born to a virgin named Mary. She would likely have been around 13 to 14 years old, and was formally engaged to Joseph, who would have been around age 15 or 17.

It is arguably the most iconic image from the American Revolution. You can find drawings, paintings, and sculptures commemorating its significance in town halls, courthouses, libraries, churches, and veterans’ associations throughout the country. Variations were once commonly displayed in homes, schools, and businesses. Is it Paul Revere’s historic engraving of the Boston Massacre? Or Emanuel Leutze’s famous Washington Crossing the Delaware? Or perhaps John Trumbull’s The Declaration of Independence? Those are all good answers, but the image of which I write is of George Washington kneeling in silent prayer near the Continental Army’s winter encampment at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, in December 1777.

Someone acting for the president just made a decision that only a president can make and commuted the sentences of 37 of the 40 murderers on federal death row out of a sense of someone's moral imperative. The Office of the President of the United States of America announced the commutations early Monday morning of Christmas week. A statement issued by the White House said the president was "guided by my conscience" to commute the death penalties for some of the worst of the worst offenders in America. It begs the question of how consciously Joe Biden does anything these days

At the heart of the Christmas story, nestled in the opening verses of two Gospels, lies the birth of Jesus, the long awaited Messiah. These words speak of a King born not in the grand halls of a world capital, but in the squalor of a manger—a place of vulnerability. As the angels proclaimed peace on earth, humanity was presented with the ultimate paradox: the Prince of Peace, born unexpectedly, in the midst of ongoing war and turmoil. For centuries, the people of Israel had awaited the Messiah. Prophecies spoke of a leader—a descendant of David—who would reign with justice, righteousness, and power, establishing peace and ending war.
