What a difference a day makes! Especially when that day was November 5th.
For the last four years, Mexico stood by while Joe Biden threw open the borders and did nothing about the drug cartels. Millions of people illegally entered during that period and deadly narcotics flooded the country. Now that the American electorate voted for real border security and an end to narco-trafficking, the Mexican government has decided to act -- before Donald Trump and his hardliners act first:

Michelle Obama was heavily criticized for a New Year's message shared with her followers just weeks ahead of Donald Trump's return to the Oval Office.
The former first lady took to Instagram on Friday afternoon with a minute-and-a-half-long video message wishing her followers a happy holiday season as 2024 officially comes to a close.
But the internet wasn't so keen about her words of encouragement for the American people. The video, which has amassed hundreds of comments within just the first three hours of being posted, showed the former first lady against a white background as she began to address the lens.

Hell must have frozen over because dark billionaire Bill Gates reportedly contacted President-elect Donald Trump in an unprecedented move, requesting a visit to Mar-a-Lago on Friday night. The unusual overture from one of the world’s wealthiest, progressive individuals, who has often championed globalist agendas, raises questions about Gates’ motives. Conservatives speculate whether this is a genuine effort to find common ground or a strategic move to influence Trump on key issues. Regardless, the interaction highlights the enduring influence of Trump in American politics and the curiosity, if not respect, he continues to command even from ideological opponents.

Republican senators slammed US spy chiefs on Friday for operating “in the shadows” to cover up bombshell evidence of COVID-19 leaking out of a Chinese lab — and renewed calls for a thorough independent investigation of alleged meddling by political appointees into the pandemic’s origins.
“For years, we’ve exposed the federal government’s role — especially the Intelligence Community — in concealing the origins of COVID-19, with the Biden administration complicit every step of the way,” Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) told The Post.
“For this reason, I recently wrote to the Intelligence Community’s Office of Inspector General, giving these authorities records and additional critical support to launch an investigation into potential integrity breaches

Lee Harvey Oswald was being led down a corridor at Dallas police headquarters on the evening of November 22, 1963, when he uttered perhaps the most fateful phrase in the history of conspiracy theories.
‘I’m just a patsy!’ he screamed at reporters demanding to know whether he’d shot dead President John F Kennedy earlier that day in Dealey Plaza.
Two days later, Oswald was himself shot dead by nightclub owner Jack Ruby in a moment captured live on television. He could never reveal whose ‘patsy’ he’d been – but there’s been no shortage of suggestions.

The Department of Justice is cracking down on the Drug Enforcement Administration's controversial practice of "consensual encounters" at airports after multiple complaints.
The practice includes DEA special agents or task force officers approaching individuals at airports and then asking for consent to search the individual’s belongings.
The DOJ's move comes four years after Scripps News Tampa Investigative Reporter Kylie McGivern highlighted the practice of civil asset forfeiture at airports by the DEA.
Civil asset forfeiture allows federal agencies to seize cash and other property suspected of being involved in a crime, even if charges are never filed against the owner.

President-Elect Donald Trump won a sweeping victory on Election Day based in part on his pledge to tackle the crime-riddled border crisis he will inherit from President Joe Biden and make it a top priority when he retakes office in mid-January.Among the actions Trump has said he will take to address the problem will be some form of mass deportation of illegal immigrants, prioritizing those with criminal records first and then dealing with the others later.
He reiterated this promise during an early December interview with NBC News, telling them that though, "it's a very tough thing to do ... you have to have, you know, you have rules, regulations,

The Associated Press announced its awards for the top women athletes of 2024. Caitlin Clark won the title, as you would expect. But then you have this:
Olympic gymnast Simone Biles was second with 25 and boxer Imane Khelif was third, getting four votes.
What is odd about this is that Imane Khelif isn’t a woman. He is a man who boxed in the women’s division in the Paris Olympics. This came after he was repeatedly disqualified from women’s events because he has male genitalia and XY chromosomes. The Olympics let him compete as a woman, apparently because he says he is a woman, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Homelessness in the U.S. jumped 18.1% this year, hitting a record level, with the dramatic rise driven mostly by a lack of affordable housing as well as devastating natural disasters and a surge of migrants in some regions of the country, federal officials said Friday.

A shocking 98 percent of the jokes made by Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers and Saturday Night Live in the lead up to Election Day made Trump the butt of the joke, according to media watchdog group Media Research Center.
As many as 1,428 of the 1,463 political jokes on these shows - from September 3 through October 25 - were targeted at Trump, the study found.

Let’s be blunt: 2024 was the worst year ever for legacy media, and it ain’t even close.
Journalism morphed into blatant activism before our eyes.
We were told things we all witnessed or heard didn’t actually happen.
But Americans knew better, and the gaslighting got increasingly hysterical as the year went on.
Amid the relentless madness, some egregious examples deserve special mention.
And if we staged an annual tournament of media malfeasance and meltdowns, my bracket would peg these as the Final Four of 2024. (Photo)

Elon is, of course, an immigrant--one of the most famous African Americans in the world, as are several high-profile entrepreneurs in the tech industry.
To me his observation seemed anodyne, even obvious. America has a huge problem with illegal immigration, and there are plenty of indications that the H1B visa process is broken and needs to be fixed. But it is also true that America has been

A Nebraska man is getting title to his home back, years after losing it over a $588 tax debt, one of his lawyers said Thursday.
Kevin Fair of Scottsbluff has been involved in a legal dispute since 2018, when he lost title to the home he had owned for nearly three decades for failing to pay $588 in overdue property taxes. Scotts Bluff County sold the lien to a private investor, as allowed by Nebraska law at the time.
When Fair couldn’t repay the money along with interest and fees, the title went to the investor, though Fair was allowed to stay in the home while the legal dispute played out.

2024 was a good year for proponents of a universal basic income (UBI). Following the 2019 experiment in Stockton, UBI pilot programs are underway across cities in California including Fresno and Sacramento. This is unfortunate.
Advocates such as former Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs argue that “we need a social safety net that goes beyond conditional benefits tied to employment, works for everyone and begins to address the call for racial and economic justice through a guaranteed income”. A UBI allegedly fills this gap by providing income security, encouraging work, and improving low-income families’ quality of life.

Han’s impeachment means he will be stripped of the powers and duties of the president until the Constitutional Court decides whether to dismiss or reinstate him. The court is already reviewing whether to uphold Yoon’s earlier impeachment. The impeachments of the country’s top two officials worsen its political turmoil, deepen its economic uncertainty and hurt its international image.
