We see all around us the detritus left by the wrecking crew of woke-ism, damaging our institutions and savaging our traditions, customs and history by preaching the poisonous theme that America was never great as it was built on the backs of slaves and is forever tainted by that history. This note will be about one of those traditions, the sacred doctrine in American law that a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Examples of the damage done to that bedrock principle abound in the past few years of vicious lawfare,

Donald Trump issued a statement on Truth Social criticizing Panama's management of the Panama Canal, claiming excessive fees unfairly burden U.S. commerce and the Navy. He argued the canal, originally gifted during Jimmy Carter's presidency, was intended solely for Panama's management and not for exploitation by others. Trump warned Panama's officials to align with the U.S.'s expectations or face demands for the canal's return. The Panama Canal is indeed a critical cornerstone of global maritime transportation. It serves as a vital link between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, enabling ships to avoid the lengthy and hazardous voyage around Cape Horn at the southern tip of South America.

A so-called TikTok ‘prankster’ known for wreaking havoc on the public for social media views, was arrested for spraying poison all over food in a Mesa, Arizona, Walmart.
The suspect, 27-year-old Charles Smith, was stupid enough to video his face while committing the crime. He then uploaded the video of himself committing the felony to social media.
According to court documents, Smith went back inside Walmart 10 minutes after he committed the crime and “attempted to collect the items he sprayed.”
Smith wheeled some of the poisoned items to the back of Walmart.

President Joe Biden is considering plans to attempt to sabotage President-elect Donald Trump’s deportation effort, a new report suggests.
According to the New York Times, Biden is eyeing sweeping quasi-amnesty protections for migrants who would otherwise face deportation:
The Biden administration is considering extending protections for hundreds of thousands of immigrants whose status in the United States is set to expire in the first months of the Trump administration, according to U.S. officials and documents viewed by The New York Times. [Emphasis added]
The move would make it harder, though not impossible, for President-elect Donald J. Trump to deport those people.

The apology comes amid reports that Biden has “quietly quitted” his duties as the POTUS during his final days in the Whtie House. This fuels the ongoing debates about media accountability and reporters' role in holding leaders and politicians accountable for consistent transparency and performance standards regardless of party affiliation.

RNC co-chair Lara Trump has decided she won't extend the family's political dynasty to the Senate, pulling her name from consideration for Marco Rubio's open seat in Florida.
Trump, the wife of president-elect Donald's son Eric, had been considered one of the contenders to replace Rubio upon his confirmation to become the new Secretary of State.
It was even considered as part of a deal between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis that could have seen him replace Pete Hegseth as nominee for Secretary of Defense.

The Biden administration indicated Friday it plans to scrap his latest student loan forgiveness proposals, which could have wiped away debts for tens of millions of Americans and cleared new paths to relief for borrowers in dire financial straits.
The rationale? The U.S. Education Department has limited time and resources, and its leader would rather dedicate them to helping at-risk borrowers repay their loans. The plans would also likely face more legal challenges and be abandoned once President-elect Donald Trump takes office.
In official notices set to be published the day after Christmas, U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona acknowledged the “uncertainty around the implementation” of the proposals.

President Biden forced the grieving relatives of Marines killed in Afghanistan to wait for hours while he napped on Air Force One, multiple family members said.
On Aug. 26, Taliban terrorists killed 13 Americans soldiers and more than 170 Afghans at Kabul International Airport’s Abbey Gate in Afghanistan.
The attack came during the final days of the chaotic American withdrawal from the country.
Biden’s reported nap took place during a “dignified transfer” ceremony when the president and First Lady Jill Biden were to welcome the caskets of the fallen soldiers at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

In a Senate chamber that has seen more backroom deals and spineless compromises than bold conservative action, Mitch McConnell, the epitome of a RINO, took to the podium to deliver his final speech as Senate Republican Leader.
The Kentucky senator’s comments, filled with self-praise and subtle digs at his conservative critics, summed up a career marked by giving in to opposition.
McConnell, who has held the reins of Senate GOP leadership since 2007, boasted about his so-called “accomplishments,” which often came at the expense of the conservative values he was elected to uphold.
What McConnell sees as “making a difference,” many conservatives recognize as selling out.

Newscaster Lesley Stahl claims she “doesn’t know what to do” about the embarrassing demise of the legacy media.
She was lamenting to her colleague, Peggy Noonan, that “we are at the point where even the president,” then corrected herself saying, “Elon Musk,” asserted that legacy media is dead. She appeared extremely worried, spilling her deepest concerns, in front of an empathetic audience gathered at the 92nd St. YMCA studio in New York.
It was as if Stahl was having an out-of-body experience, where she failed to factor in herself, in accounting for the reason why audiences were abandoning network news in droves.

The dispute happened when Natalie Martinez, 19, and her mother, Patricia Cupa went to the Citadel Outlets in Commerce, Ca. to return a sweater at one of the stores on Wednesday, according to KTLA.
The duo had made it to the packed shopping center just after 5 p.m. and had trouble finding a parking spot, forcing them to drive around the lot before the teen eventually found an open space.

Joe Biden’s last-minute pardons have been positively scandalous — and the one for his son Hunter hasn’t even been the worst of them.
Biden’s pardons are terrible in and of themselves, but taken together they illustrate a more important point. Pardons are for resolving individual cases one at a time; pardons aren’t for policymaking.
First: Holy smokes, some of these pardons are bonkers, including Biden’s grant of clemency for the corrupt judge at the center of the “Kids for Cash” case, in which former Pennsylvania Judge Michael Conahan took bribes in exchange for wrongly sentencing children to time in for-profit youth prisons, padding his own bank account while

A Maryland woman dubbed the "Black Widow" for murdering two husbands and a boyfriend for insurance money is now free after President Joe Biden commuted her 40-year prison sentence, undercutting the White House's claim that Biden released only "non-violent" offenders in a clemency bonanza last week.
Among the 1,500 federal convicts granted clemency was Josephine Virginia Gray, who was sentenced to 40 years in prison in 2002 for insurance fraud schemes connected to the murders of three men between 1974 and 1996. Gray was resentenced to the same amount of time again in 2006 following a series of appeals.

CBS News’ Lesley Stahl is having a bit of heartburn after the 2024 election. Donald Trump is coming back. The GOP retained control of Congress. The media establishment was once again skinned alive by the tens of millions of Americans who rightly rejected, ignored, or outright dismissed their shoddy narratives against Trump and the ones manufactured to prop up Vice President Kamala Harris. So, it’s somewhat laughable that she fears legacy media is dead.
Stahl and The Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan spoke about the latter’s latest book at the 92NY Center’s Recanati-Kaplan Talks in late November. Stahl relayed a

Five years too late, the Wall Street Journal finally reports – when it no longer matters – what journalists knew all along but covered up: Joe Biden was not mentally fit to be president.
The mainstream media’s disservice to the public ranks right up there with Walter Duranty’s New York Times reporting, in which he fed Soviet Union propaganda to the U.S. as news and helped cover up the hellscape that was Stalin’s Russia. (The New York Times never returned the Pulitzer Prize that Duranty won for his lies.)

In March the Republican-led House passed H.R. 3391, which would continue funding research of pediatric diseases like childhood cancer. The legislation never went anywhere in the Senate under the leadership of Democrat Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. But now Democrats are trying to use sick kids with cancer as leverage to pass 1,500-plus pages of pork.
On Wednesday Speaker Mike Johnson unveiled a 1,500-page so-called “continuing resolution” that was really nothing more than a stuffed omnibus bill that included money for censorship, sweetheart deals for Congress, and other unnecessary expenditures. Almost immediately the pork-stuffed “continuing resolution” was rebuked by millions of Americans,

On Capitol Hill this week, where House Speaker Mike Johnson convened a bipartisan pre-Hanukkah celebration, Rabbi Levi Shemtov noted that when the menorah is lit at such an event, it’s purely a symbolic gesture — the actual blessing is reserved for the actual holiday.
That prompted a knowing chuckle from a number of us present; at the White House the night before, after all, there was no such concern.
Instead, at that celebration, President Biden, his wife Jill and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff lit the menorah and those assembled recited all the traditional blessings, despite the fact that Hanukkah doesn’t even begin until next week.

Republicans scored a significant victory after successfully passing a spending bill on Friday to avert a looming government shutdown with just 12 hours to spare. The new 118-page bill, which overcame partisan tensions, reflects a strategic win for GOP lawmakers after 38 Republicans voted against the Trump-backed bill on Thursday. After negotiating, lawmakers agreed to trim the funding bill to just under 600 pages after the initial draft was more than 1,300 pages and included unnecessary spending, such as a pay increase for Congress members.

It could have been much, much worse. The “continuing resolution” that Speaker Mike Johnson initially came up with, I take it as a result of negotiation with Senate Democrats and others, was a 1,500-page monstrosity that didn’t just continue existing spending until the next Congress can meet. Rather, it added many billions in new spending along with a plethora of other offensive provisions.
That Frankenstein bill likely would have gone through, but for Elon Musk and Vivek Ramasawamy, who, even though their DOGE does not yet exist, exposed what was in the bill and mobilized conservative opposition against it.

It turns out, no matter your party affiliation, it may have been good for America that Trump lost in 2020.
Had Trump won in 2020, his second term would have probably looked a lot like his first term. The Democrats would have fixated on him losing the popular vote and resisted him every step of the way. The country would have remained in gridlock as Democrats rejected his platform.
And most likely, we'd now be swearing in a new Democrat president.
Instead, since Trump lost, we had four years of Joe Biden and got to see the Democrat Party unmasked. Yes, the country suffered -- badly and almost beyond repair -- but

What a year it was for lies from the Democrat party and their allies in the regime media…
George Stephanopoulos and ABC News were forced to cough up $16 million for repeatedly lying about President-elect Trump being a “rapist.” The Very Fine People Hoax raged on unchecked for its fourth year. There was the blatant lie Trump had called for Liz Cheney’s execution. There was the November Surprise in the form a rigged suppression poll out of the Des Moines Register. There was the nonsense about Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally being a “Nazi rally.” There was the Bloodbath Hoax. There was Joe Biden’s repeated promise not to pardon
