President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly considering privatizing the United States Postal Service (USPS), according to a report from the Washington Post. Three people with knowledge of the matter told the outlet that Trump had been talking with Howard Lutnick, who Trump picked to serve as the Commerce Secretary, about carrying out an “overhaul” of the U.S. Postal Service. While Trump’s plans regarding how he plans to overhaul the Postal Service were not “immediately clear,” one of the sources told the outlet that Trump had met with “a group of transition officials” and had requested their input on “privatizing the agency.”

If they were private they'd probably have to fire 70% of the workers, or go out of business.

The only things I want to find in my snail mail box is Christmas and Birthday cards. I have signed up for paperless delivery when ever I can. I particularly get upset when I order something from amazon and they turn it over to USPS.

Daily service would probably end in many (if not most) places. And most residential addresses would wind up being clustered into grouped configurations having dozens of boxes in one "nearby" place. But PDJT's bigger obstacle might be Constitutional.

Britain has a privatized postal service. It’s very localized, and run by businesspeople who set up shops, kind of along the idea of a general store. Can we adapt to it? We should find out what they do and adapt a system that works for us. What won’t be easy is how the government pensions will be handled. But that is going to be a problem for government workers across the board. As a retired teacher, I worry about this. It’s not going to be easy on us.

What #8 said. The government wastes our money on a hell of a lot of absolutely useless projects. Consentrate on those before screwing up something that actually provides a service.

There is no postal "service". I have to take the mail to the post office for outgoing, as they fail to pick it up. Then, their employees steal any checks placed in the mail. It takes a week to mail anything across town--20% never arriving. The new postal head is a fool. The hub and spoke system is a disaster. The postal service should be sold to one of the current delivery companies that already have logistics down pat. Fedex, UPS, Amazon, DPL, and Walmart come by every day, and hours before the post office arrives at around 5PM. May as well have waited until tomorrow. The last time I saw a white male carrier was in the 1970's. And I am not enamored with postal employees throwing away Republican votes, back dating Democrat mail in ballots, and throwing away other mail. Sell the post office, please do it now.

The America-hating Dems have routinely disregarded anything in the U.S. Constitution that complicates their agenda or with which they disagree, particularly since the mulatto light-bringer was anointed to an authority for which he was probably not Constitutionally eligible. Are we advocating for Trump to conform his administration to their unconstitutional ways? Will there be any authority to stop big tech from choosing whose mail gets sent and whose gets delivered, like they "managed" the free exchange of opinions on social media? Live by the E.O., die by the E.O...

Hah, after my first retirement I spent time as a rural delivery driver for the P.O...at that time, you got paid by how many boxes were on your route, NOT by the hour...package deliveries were a pain because you had to drop them at the door, not the mailbox..'stuffers' were a pain as well...one in each box...junk mail...sorting your route by hand every morning...drive from the right side, a big pain, arm always cold or wet...and always the postmaster was afraid of an inspection...it was like they were minor gods or something...I lasted 6 months...no, I don't miss it...now adays, a major part of my bill payment is online..at least I know the checks won't get lost along the way...Christmas was bad, last couple years I've lost cards with gift cards in them...a real pain...

Ages ago, someone wanted to stop junk mailers from getting a discounted rate on postage. The Postal Union fought long and hard to keep it, because it would immediately make a large portion of their staff unnecessary. Big surprise - a union doesn't care about the long-term consequences.

At the very least stop them from providing services that are already provided by private companies. For example - There was already an overnight package delivery service when the post office got into that business.

There is no doubt that improprieties impacted the 2020 presidential election. Suppression of free speech by social media platforms, Zuckbucks, and above all the concealment of definitive evidence of Joe Biden’s corruption by the Dirty 51 and the press, very likely swung the election to Biden. But how about outright voter fraud? We will never know how extensive the fraud was, since the essence of a successful fraud is that it is not detected, or at least not proved. But a look at the gross numbers can provide a meaningful context for the question. Shortly after the election,
