The Los Angeles Times could roll out an artificial intelligence-powered "bias meter" as soon as January, in the latest shakeup as the paper's owner tries to reshape the outlet.
LA Times owner Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong announced the upcoming AI feature on Wednesday. [SNIP] "Whether it be news or opinion — more likely the opinion or the voices — you have a bias meter so somebody could understand as they read it that the source of the article has some level of bias," Soon-Shiong, a billionaire tech entrepreneur and doctor who bought the Times in 2018, said Wednesday.

Rep. Mexican security forces said on Dec. 4 that they had made the largest fentanyl seizure in the country’s history, impounding 1,100 kilograms (1.2 tons) of the synthetic opioid in the state of Sinaloa.
Mexico’s top security official, Omar García Harfuch, said in a statement that more than a ton of fentanyl was seized by officials in Sinaloa state. Several guns were also seized, and two men were arrested, he said.
“This is an investigation that has been going on for a long time, and yesterday, it gave these results,” Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said at a press conference on Dec. 4, referring to the fentanyl seizures.

Many TV outlets are obsessed with President Biden’s pardoning of his son. The pro-Democrat outlets defend Biden’s assertion that political motivations within the Justice Dept. are driving prosecution of his innocent son (sic). Also, there are sentimental defenses regarding a father’s connection or compassion for his own son — his flesh and blood — as being completely understandable. The more conservative media see this “pardon” as completely hypocritical and an outright lie, noting the frequency of the president’s assertions that he would not under any circumstances pardon his son, which assertions were backed up by repeated assertions by his mature and brilliant press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre,

I, for one, am delighted that alleged President Joe Biden pardoned his s******, perverted, drug-addled corrupto-kid. I might as well be because there’s not anything I can do about it. We all knew this was coming. We knew it from the beginning. We especially knew it when Joe Biden promised he wouldn’t do it. That made it a certainty. And now we get to watch the amazing contortions of the all-star leftist yogis twisting themselves into positions unfathomable by the human mind in order to justify it. It’s great to see them humiliating themselves.
It’s not great because it’s yet another blow to the rule of law.

New footage emerged Thursday showing the at-large suspect in the slaying of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson strolling out of a Manhattan subway station just 30 minutes before the fatal shooting.
The suspected gunman – accused of shooting the executive execution-style on a Midtown street – was seen leaving what appears to be the 57th Street station around 6:15 a.m., in the newly-obtained surveillance video taken from a cigar store on Sixth Avenue.
Thompson, 50, was repeatedly shot by a masked assassin who had been waiting outside the Hilton hotel along Sixth Avenue, where the CEO was hosting an investors’ conference, cops said.

Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., introduced legislation on Wednesday that would federally ban mutilating transgender procedures for children and punish so-called “physicians” who perform such procedures.
The legislation would block doctors from being able to prescribe or administer puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, as well as perform mutilating transgender surgeries like mastectomies.
The Safeguarding the Overall Protection of Minors (STOP) Act would allow the Department of Health and Human Services to place a minimum $100,000 fine on doctors who do not follow the law.

California’s fast food industry shed more than 6,000 jobs after Democratic lawmakers passed a bill mandating a $20 minimum wage for most fast food and counter service restaurants in the state, according to a new analysis of labor data.

As I previously reported, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson humiliated herself when she bizarrely tried to equate banning transgender procedures for minors with prohibiting interracial marriage. She began with a convoluted statement:

Trump’s choice to be his director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman, has been tarred as “likely a Russian asset” by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL). Recep Tayyip Erdogan doth bestride Turkey like a colossus. President since 2014 and before that, prime minister for eleven years, Erdogan has worked assiduously throughout this century to destroy Kemalist secularism and restore Turkey’s Islamic character. Erdogan has also made no secret of wanting to restore not just Islamic law, but the territories that the Ottoman Empire once ruled, including much of Eastern Europe and the Middle East. His present backing of jihadis in Syria appears to be part of that revanchist agenda. And along with all this, not surprisingly, goes a burning hatred of the U.S. and the West.

“I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision,” President Biden wrote in the last line of his statement explaining his unconditional pardon of his son, Hunter Biden. In doing so, he actually went full circle: The very first line of his statement emphasized their father-son relationship as well: “Today I signed a pardon for my son Hunter.” So it was Biden’s open and close.
His PR team deliberately positioned it this way, of course. They had to: Hunter Biden isn’t a sympathetic character.

One of the things the media have been silent about since Turkish-backed forces attacked Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is how these same forces have used the moment to ethnically cleanse Kurds in northern Syria, including (as always with Muslim warriors) the sexual enslavement of women.
Most Westerners first became aware of the long-running regional war against the Kurds in 1988, during the Iran-Iraq war. That was when news broke that after Iranian troops and allied Kurdish fighters captured an Iraqi military base near the Kurdish town of Halabja, Saddam Hussein ordered a poison gas attack on the town itself. The attack killed 3,000-5,000 civilians, injuring 10,000 more.

There’s not much Donald Trump could ever do as president that will generate more resistance and hatred than bleeding the fetid capital swamp. It’s arguable that there’s nothing he could ever do as president that would be better for the republic.
Trump’s decision to make administration appointments from figures who are outside of the establishment adds to the loathing that so many in the political-media establishment already directed toward him. Various grifters, vipers and unprincipled schemers from both parties have spent their adult lives seeking seats of power, comfort and endless tenure in the capital.

House Republicans pulled off what some members feared they couldn’t and defended their majority in the 2024 elections — but that slim control appears poised to winnow down to a two-seat majority at the start of next year, potentially hobbling the 47th president’s agenda.
The final House race was called Tuesday in California’s 13th District, where Democratic challenger Adam Gray ousted GOP Rep. John Duarte, and resulted in Democrats flipping a net of one seat this cycle with the GOP clinging to a 220-215 majority, down one from the 118th Congress.
However, at least three reps are set to depart in January.

Charlamagne tha God challenged Whoopi Goldberg over President Biden’s controversial pardon of his scandal-scarred son, Hunter, asking, “Why can’t you say when Democrats are wrong?” while appearing on “The View” Wednesday.
“The Breakfast Club” host sparred with Goldberg as the two liberal figures bickered over the 82-year-old president’s decision to let Hunter off the hook for any federal offenses over the past decade after previously claiming he would not intervene in his 54-year-old son’s criminal problems.
Charlamagne called the criticism against Biden “valid” because “Democrats stand on this moral high ground all the time” and “act so self-righteous.”

The Justice Department briefed the House Judiciary Committee about an investigation it opened into Special Counsel Jack Smith and his prosecutors over misconduct allegations, according to a letter obtained by The Washington Examiner.
Details about the misconduct were not immediately clear.
The DOJ’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) told Chairman Jim Jordan’s committee last month about a misconduct allegation that took place in June 2023.
The OPR did not take any action against Jack Smith’s office due to the ongoing lawfare investigations into Trump.

Tourists flocked to Rockefeller Center for the Christmas tree lighting Wednesday night, unfazed by an armed assassin on the loose after killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson around the corner hours earlier.
Thousands of visitors from all over the country and overseas stood in line for hours in hopes of getting a glimpse of the famous tree in Manhattan — just two blocks away from where the shocking murder was committed shortly before 7 a.m.
The tourists bundled up and sang along to performances by the Backstreet Boys and Kelly Clarkson as light flurries fell over the celebration before the tree lights were turned on at 10 p.m.

CNN National Correspondent Lucy Kafanov has a rainbow flag emoji in her Twitter handle and was wearing rainbow gloves on Wednesday, but CNN Newsroom still thought she was an appropriate choice to send to the Supreme Court to cover oral arguments in U.S. v. Skrmetti, the case that seeks to answer whether Tennessee’s ban on so-called “gender-affirming care” violates the Constitution. In addition to some horrifically one-sided reporting, Kafanov also sought to shame Tennessee and its supporters by rolling out 10-year-olds who identify as transgender to claim that they are in danger of being murdered.
To anyone unaware of Kafanov's activist stance, she quickly made it clear which side s

It didn’t look good for Pete Hegseth, facing a multi-pronged attack on his character, a la Brett Kavanaugh, regarding his defense secretary nomination. Hegseth is qualified for the job. He’s also not just a Fox News host—he’s a decorated combat veteran who has worked with such groups for years. Yet, tales of sexual misconduct and hard drinking are now filling the airwaves, most of which is unsubstantiated drivel. The sexual misconduct allegations were investigated, and no charges were drafted. (X) His nomination to run the Pentagon was controversial.

Detectives investigating the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson reportedly found shell casings with the words 'deny', 'defend' and 'depose' inscribed on them.
Police sources told ABC News that casings were found at the scene with the cryptic messages left on them.

The at-large suspect who gunned down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside a Midtown hotel may have left a message on the bullets he used to kill the executive Wednesday morning, according to police sources.
The NYPD is investigating the possible message — which appears to include the words “deny,” “depose” and “defend” — engraved on live rounds and shell casings left behind by the masked assassin after he shot Thompson, 50, several times at about 6:46 a.m. before fleeing, the sources said.
Cops had recovered three live 9-millimeter rounds and three discharged casings in front of the Hilton hotel on Sixth Avenue, where Thompson, of Minnesota, was set to host

First son Hunter Biden was spotted on camera for the first time since his father, President Biden, pardoned him, smiling for the cameras as he picked up a fast-food order in California.
Hunter was seen on Wednesday afternoon in Santa Barbara sporting a T-shirt, jeans and baseball cap while picking up food from an Arby's.
The media was heard asking Hunter in a short video outside the restaurant if he had any comment on the pardon. The first son did not respond, and instead was seen hopping into the back of an SUV while flanked by security.

A few years back, left wing billionaire George Soros went on a spending spree and got prosecutors elected all over America who then went to work doing the exact opposite of what prosecutors are supposed to do.
They were soft on crime, freed dangerous criminals without bail and refused to prosecute certain cases based on so-called social justice.
Once the public figured this out, these prosecutors started getting challenged for office or even voted out in recall elections. Since 2022, almost two dozen of them have been kicked out of office, but it’s no time to slow down. They all must go.
