My organization conducts a quarterly poll of registered voters in Minnesota, the results of which are published in our magazine. The polling is done by Meeting Street Insights. Our pollster was in the field last week, and the results will be published in the January issue of Thinking Minnesota. We asked questions that were intended to help explain why people voted the way they did in this year’s presidential election. I’m going to leak just one finding from our poll, which I thought was remarkable. We asked whether respondents approved or disapproved of a series of Trump initiatives, one of which was the

Amazing. I would not expect it would be difficult to get 96% to agree that trees are green or the sky is blue. But 96% think DOGE is a good thing. Fantastic. It will make it very difficult to oppose the coming massive cuts in the bureaucracies, and the massive erasure of whole swaths of regulations now known to have been illegally created. I suggest rolling EPA standards of emissions and fuel economy back to the levels in place in 2000 and locking them there permanently. The air was clean and all those cars had catalytic converters which tremendously clean up the exhaust gases leaving very, very little actual pollution. And stop with the whole CO2 is a pollutant nonsense. It is NOT a pollutant, it is a helpful gas necessary for green plants to survive and thrive. No green plants, no life on this planet. More CO2 is a benefit.

Nate Cohn: The Democratic Party is in Trouble 8 replies
Posted by Dreadnought 11/26/2024 12:31:26 AM Post Reply
Nate Cohn has a long newsletter today looking over the results of 2024 and putting it in context over the past 15 years or so of American politics. The bottom line is that Democrats appear to be in real trouble. Not so long ago it was taken as a given that changing demographics, fewer white people and more Hispanic and Asian people, would create a permanent majority for the Democrats. But what we've seen over the past 3 elections is that Donald Trump has broken up that consensus a little at a time to the point where the old consensus

FIRST ON FOX: Walmart is making a slate of changes to its diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies, becoming the latest in a growing list of major corporations to halt the so-called "woke" initiatives. Anti-woke activist and filmmaker Robby Starbuck, who has been leading a campaign exposing major corporations' woke policies, said on X on Monday that he warned Walmart executives last week that he would be doing a story on "wokeness" at the retail giant. "Instead," Starbuck shared, "we had productive conversations to find solutions." Starbuck outlined the changes Walmart agreed to make, including working to remove sexual and transgender products inappropriately marketed toward children and reviewing grants to Pride events
Study: DEI Training Created Perceptions

A study by the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) and Rutgers University Social Perception Lab found that exposure to DEI materials made people more likely to perceive prejudice where none existed. Simply put, they appear to do more harm than good by increasing hostility between groups. The studies reported herein assess a crucial question: Do ideas and rhetoric foundational to many DEI trainings foster pluralistic inclusiveness, or do they exacerbate intergroup and interpersonal conflicts? Do they increase empathy and understanding or increase hostility towards members of groups labeled as oppressors? The study looked at three different types of DEI training, on religion, race and caste.

In 2023 the state of Missouri passed a law banning gender-affirming care for minors. The law restricted the use of puberty blockers and gender-affirming surgeries. Transgender minors and some adults in Missouri will soon be banned from accessing puberty blockers, hormones and gender-affirming surgeries under a bill signed Wednesday by the state’s Republican governor. Beginning Aug. 28, Missouri health care providers won’t be able to prescribe those gender-affirming treatments for teens and children. Most adults will still have access to transgender health care under the law, but Medicaid won’t cover it. Gender-affirming surgeries for inmates and prisoners will be outlawed.

Most mortals are defined by one or two signature moments. Good or bad, win or lose, we get our 15 minutes of fame — and then we’re done. Take a bow; exit stage right. But Donald Trump has lived three or four lifetimes… in just the past decade! No hyperbole: When 2014 began, Trump was filming season seven of “The Apprentice,” ordering around Gilbert Gottfried, Ian Ziering, and one of the Jonas brothers. Now, I don’t want to be dismissive of those (ahem) celebrity superstars (Ziering is the star of the “Sharknado” franchise, for crying out loud), but Trump’s career trajectory has taken him to far loftier heights than reality TV.

In a bold declaration, President-elect Donald Trump announced plans to impose sweeping tariffs on America’s largest trading partners, Canada and Mexico, along with additional duties on Chinese imports. These measures are set to take effect on his first day in office, underscoring his commitment to reshaping U.S. trade policy. Trump detailed a 25 percent tariff on all imports from Canada and Mexico, citing the ongoing issues of illegal immigration and the trafficking of illicit drugs like fentanyl. On Truth Social, he declared, “On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff

VILNIUS - A DHL cargo plane crashed as it came in to land at Lithuania's Vilnius airport on Monday morning, killing one person in what Germany's foreign minister later said could be an accident or a hybrid attack in "volatile times". The three other people onboard were injured, and at least one of them was in critical condition. Flames and smoke engulfed the wrecked plane as fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze. Lithuanian officials said there was no indication of sabotage so far, though Germany is investigating several fires caused by incendiary devices hidden

Trump was accused of interfering in the 2020 election and was indicted in August 2023 on multiple charges, including conspiracy to defraud the U.S., conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights. On Monday, Smith petitioned U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan, who is presiding over the case, to dismiss the case in accordance with the DOJ’s policy to not prosecute sitting presidents.

As they continue to reel from President-elect Donald Trump‘s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, dejected Democrats have not mustered up the same resistance to Trump’s second term as eight years ago. Trump secured 312 Electoral College votes in his comeback win to the White House, besting his 306 votes in 2016, when he stunned the nation in an upset victory over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Trump also won the popular vote, swept all seven battleground states, and made inroads among minority voters, puncturing the coalition of voters Democrats have long relied on to win elections.

Do you remember the liberal meltdowns after Trump defeated Hillary Clinton for the presidency in 2016? There were huge “P-hat” demonstrations (riots), widespread outrage, and unhinged commentary from the corrupt media. Now, we still see that today, some eight years later, as Trump won yet again, but it’s not the same. There’s a feeling of defeat emanating from the left. Mostly, we see videos of mentally disturbed Democrats losing their stuff on social media and misty-eyed anchors at MSNBC and CNN still trying to tell us our Democracy is in peril (their ratings prove that few are listening anymore), but we haven’t seen any serious coordinated reaction.

With the early primary polls on her side, Democrat Party insiders say Kamala Harris is thinking seriously about trying again for the presidency in 2028. “Of course, she’s going to try and run again,” someone the Daily Mail describes as a “well-connected Democratic strategist,” told the outlet. The strategist added that Kamala’s ambition is only one thing driving this decision. “Despite some hesitation, Harris has generated a lot of sympathetic reactions from professional Democrats in Washington,” reports the Daily Mail. “They describe her campaign as ‘near flawless’ but say she struggled to separate herself from President Joe Biden’s record.”

Her name has still been in the news, mostly because her campaign is still trying to collect money even after raking in over one billion dollars during election season. Just to show you how great she would have been on the economy, she somehow ended up millions in debt. Mostly, however, she’s been pretty silent—and now we know why. Kennedy’s inability to communicate with the agency he may soon manage, confirmed by an administration official with knowledge of the episodes granted anonymity to describe internal deliberations, is just one consequence of the president-elect’s continued foot-dragging on signing the standard trio of ethics and transparency agreements with the federal government — something his team pledged to do shortly after the election.
