How Dumb Can Government Get?

Original Article

If you ever doubted life was absurd, you only need to look at the types of decisions bureaucracies make. We live in a world where food wrappers have warnings on them telling you not to eat, ladders are plastered with warnings so numerous that you can barely see the aluminum underneath, and packages of nuts have warnings that tell you that this bag of almonds contains nuts. In the spirit of this stupidity, I present to you this gem of a news story: Costco is being forced to recall packages of butter that do not warn purchasers that the butter contains milk. They even have given instructions

Comments:

If that butter bothers a 'duped' purchaser, they can buy more butter.

This is the ultimate irony😁. The head honcho at Costco is reputed to be a guy to the left of liberal, if you know what I mean. I simply have to wonder what HIS take on this level of lefty gov stupidity is. Is he shaking his head like we all are? Is he reexamining his reality in the light of this imbecility? Probly not.

While taking a law class in college years ago, the subject of labeling came up. The lawyer teaching the class stated that one of the reasons for all the labeling was due to a lawsuit brought by a man who picked up a push mower to trim his hedges and cut his arm off in doing so. He sued the manufacturer because he stated there was no warning that injury could happen by picking up the running mower and that there was no notice stating that one could not trim the hedges using the mower. Needless to say, the entire class laughed.

Can't Costco just print up a few thousand labels saying 'contains milk' and stick them on the butter package?

Los Angeles County voters have chosen to pass Measure A, which will raise sales taxes by a quarter of a percent to fund homeless services. The referendum, which seemed in doubt until recently, passed with 57% support. CalMatters.org reported (original emphasis): Measure A, which is leading in the ballots counted thus far, would end the county’s existing quarter-cent sales tax for homelessness that was scheduled to expire in 2027 and replace it with a half-cent tax that would begin immediately and continue in perpetuity. That new tax is expected to raise $1 billion a year, and since it has no sunset,

Democrats have quietly begun to distance themselves from more extremist elements of transgender ideology in the wake of Donald Trump’s return to the White House, fearing the issue will further alienate voters. Speaking with the New York Times, New York Rep. Tom Suozzi (D) said Democrat calls to push the party left will alienate the voters they desperately need to stay relevant. “The Democrats have to stop pandering to the far left,” he said. “I don’t want to discriminate against anybody, but I don’t think biological boys should be playing in girls’ sports. Democrats aren’t saying that, and they should be.”
