“A few days ago, I learned I joined the ranks of millions of Americans. I have cancer of the esophagus,” Connolly, 74, said in a statement on social media.

Democrat Ruben Gallego narrowly defeated Republican Kari Lake, according to Decision Desk HQ, and will fill the seat currently held by Independent Kyrsten Sinema. The race was tight. As of 10:35 p.m. on Saturday night, with 88% of precincts reporting, Gallego had 49.7% of the vote, compared to Lake's 48.2%.
