After months of legal battles, campaigns, and a full-court press against it by Gov. Ron DeSantis, the recreational marijuana amendment appears to have failed to pass. Recreational weed remains illegal in Florida.
But it got 55.9% of the vote, according to the unofficial returns as of 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. Why wasn't that good enough? Most states require a simple majority vote to pass ballot measures.
So did Florida, until a 2006 constitutional amendment passed, changing the threshold for voter approval to 60%. Ironically, it passed with only 57.78% of the vote, one of the last amendments that will ever do so in the state.

BILLINGS, Mont. — Republican Tim Sheehy bolstered the GOP’s newly acquired Senate majority with a victory over three-term Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Tester in a contest of national importance that featured a record-setting torrent of spending by the two sides.
WATCH: Election night panel on what we’ll learn about the country from the results
Sheehy, a former U.S. Navy SEAL, closely aligned his campaign with Donald Trump and leading conservatives while painting Tester as a corrupt Washington insider. The Republican also promised to address the southern border crisis and curb government regulation.

Former President Trump has won the presidency, securing a second term nearly four years after he left Washington under a cloud of ignominy and with an uncertain political future, according to a projection from Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ).
DDHQ made the call after declaring Trump the projected winner of Pennsylvania and Alaska, bringing him to exactly 270 electoral votes.
Trump defeated Vice President Harris in an election that saw a number of unexpected developments: a criminal trial involving Trump during the campaign, two assassination attempts against the former president and a change atop the Democratic ticket after President Biden dropped out of the race.

Antifa agitators are already rioting in Democrat-led crime cesspools, calling for chaos on Election Night no matter who wins the White House.
Black bloc militants in the city of Seattle mobilized early in the evening to launch an Election Night attack at the former site of the deadly Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ).
Seattle cops swiftly shut the anarchist occupation down and arrested several leftist activists, according to on-the-ground footage captured by The Post Millennial's Katie Daviscourt.
"There is a heavy police presence on the ground tonight," she said, noting that the Seattle Police Department is "not playing any games."

Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., said Friday that the Democrats will support the peaceful transfer of power in January, but only “If it’s a free and fair election.”
Raskin was on "Real Time with Bill Maher" on Friday, where he said, "When I say we will support a free and fair election, no we we're not going to allow them to steal it in the states, steal it with the Department of Justice or steal it with any other election official in the country. If it's a free and fair election, we will do what we've always done: Honor it."
Maher responded, "That is the Democrats' history: They honor it.

Barack Obama has entered from stage left to instruct American Jews to return to the Democratic fold in their usual numbers. The video below captures him in Milwaukee this weekend retailing the “very fine people” lie. The high-handed arrogance of this riff is incredible. (X) Obama of course seeks something like a fourth term with the election of Kamala Harris. Michael Lind writes about the project in “The Obama machine.” Subhead: “No matter who wins or loses next week, we can look forward to four more years of Chicago on the Potomac.” Lind’s column makes a valuable contribution to understanding the project.

I switched from a Mac to a PC. My Mac was seven years old, and I didn’t want to spend two grand on a computer. Most of my applications are subscriptions, so there wasn’t much of a money hit for apps.
Why am I telling you this? I am now buried in garbage ads and clickbait “articles.” Microsoft’s “Edge” browser, it seems, is intent on overloading me with hot takes from Ireland to India. Edge has an endless stream of reminders and a constant stream of headline popups from CNN and MSNBC. I saw one informing me that troops were on alert in the Northwest, ready for election riots.

The world's largest crocodile in captivity has died at a wildlife sanctuary in Australia.
Cassius was nearly 5.5m (18ft) long, weighed nearly one tonne and was thought to be at least 110 years old - although no one knew for sure.
The huge saltwater crocodile lived in the sanctuary on an island off the coast of Queensland since being caught in Australia's Northern Territory in the 1980s.
In 2011, he was awarded the Guinness World Record for the largest crocodile in captivity.
Marineland Melanesia Crocodile Habitat said in a post on social media that Cassius was "our beloved mate" and "a cherished member of our family".

A teenager accused of killing three young girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class for young children in the United Kingdom has been charged with possessing an al Qaeda training manual and ricin poison.
Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, 18, already faces three murder charges, 10 counts of attempted murder and one count of knife possession, authorities said Tuesday. The new charges were filed under the country's Terrorism Act, police said.
The poison and PDF study, "Military Studies in the Jihad Against the Tyrants: The al Qaeda Training Manual," were found during a search of Rudakubana's home, police said. Tests later confirmed the substance found was ricin. The risk of exposure

…from the Washington Post, that is. First he walked out on the Washington Post Live’s First Look podcast with the absurd Jonathan Capehart and Ruth Marcus this morning (video below). Then, according to the follow-up New York Post story, Hugh quit his gig as a Post columnist.
Hugh was Power Line’s first media friend, from the summer and fall of 2002 in our early days online. He is something of a Renaissance man, superior in every respect to his colleagues in the mainstream media. It understates matters considerably to say that he is an old-fashioned gentleman and scholar.
Today he reached his boiling point.

MISSOULA, Mont. — A Washington state man accused of leading a wildlife trafficking ring on a Native American reservation that killed thousands of eagles and hawks to sell on the black market was sentenced Thursday to nearly four years in prison.
The trafficking ring operated for years on the Flathead Indian Reservation in northwest Montana, exploiting high demand among tribal members for feathers and other bird parts that are used in powwows and sacred ceremonies.
The defendant and others killed at least 118 eagles, 107 hawks and as many as 3,600 birds overall, prosecutors said.
Juvenile golden eagles in particular were targeted because their black and white

The annual UN resolution disapproving of the Cuba embargo came up. And the entire world, or nearly all of it, took a firm stand in favor of mandatory trade with a brutal Communist tyranny.
The UN General Assembly voted 187 – 2 in favor of its pro-Communist resolution urging the “necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba,”
The 2 were America and Israel. (Moldova, for some reason, abstained.) Every other country, our allies in Europe, even seemingly Ukraine, voted against America.
It’s a truly disgraceful showing.
Making it likely even more disgraceful is that the Marshall Islands and Micronesia voted against America
